Is it worth it to take a job as a ramp agent in a major (capital) city just for the sake of traveling (free flights)?
>>
>>2874392
No. Flights are a meme. Just stay longer bro. Stay a year and the round trip $600 flight costs you like $1.50 a day. Stay 6 days and it costs you $100 a day.
>>
>>2874394
thing is i literally have zero dollars in my bank account lol i have nothing, i just live with my parents, thats why i can float by
>>
>>2874406
Get a job nigga
>>
>>2874392
A job is better than no job. Ramp agents get a decent workout, so if you're a fat fuck, you'll look great in a year so long as you eat somewhat decently. Beats the shit out of working as a convenience store clerk or being a low paid desk jockey.
>>
ayy lmao

The aviation industry baits people with "free flights" but doesn't mention that you need to completely reshape your travel habits to take advantage of them.

Want to go to a popular vacation spot during holiday season? Flights are sold out and any remaining seats will be snatched by employees who joined half a century before you.
Weather's shit and you want to escape for a couple days? The world's your oyster.

The best thing about flight benefits are the fact that they're fully flexible and the price difference by distance is negligible. You get much more bang for your buck by flying intercontinental, even for just an extended weekend.
You just have to go with the flow and remember that you can either choose where you want to go or when you want to go.

Rampies have shit working conditions but even with just 2-3 years of seniority you can build yourself a nice on-off schedule to max out your benefits.
The entry-level jobs in the industry (gate agent, ramp agent, flight attendant) have a high turnover, so it's easy to make a career out of it if you don't find anything more attractive.

>you can build yourself a nice on-off schedule to max out your benefits
thats what i heard, that you basically decide all your shifts as you, which is nice flexibility
>>2874463
im skinny as fuck/average height so im kinda concerned ill gas out, i heard some ramp agent airlines sit around alot, i guess it depends wat time of year or something
>>2874498
>snatched by employees who joined half a century before you
so its senioroty based on who gets free flights first? or if they end choosing something you already chose, you end up getting bumped?
>gate agent
that seems like the easiest of the three, would like that
>>

I mean obviously the economy is fake and gay, and jobs are going to the various ethnic cartels from around the world. But, a flight = a couple hundred bucks? Why wouldn't you take a job that pays a little more and just buy a ticket to where you wanna go, when you wanna go? It's basic math. Unless you like working outdoors (meaning in the Summer heat, the rain, the cold and snow of Winter), and jet exhaust smells good. And oh yeah working with people with room temperature IQs.
>>
>>2874501
>jet exhaust smells
fuck, i think you just ended the appeal for me lmao i dont think i could do that
>>
>>2874500
Seniority determines in what order you can pick your base, holidays, shifts and your position on the standby list.
It's how they keep their frontline workers from switching to competing airlines?
"Sure, you can easily transfer your 737 certs but you'd have to start all over again at the bottom of the heap. Still want to switch for that pay bump?"

>gate agent
Just remember that you'll be dealing with the public which can be worse than the shittiest of weather or heaviest of bags.
>>
>>2874501
It's not about the cash price but rather the unmatched flexibility.
You can decide to go to the other side of the world while passing the gate.
You do need to have contingency plans in case things go wrong though.
>>
>>2874501

>flight = couple hundred bucks

Umm no sweaty. Where you been? The war has made flights skyrocket and it’ll probably only get worse
>>
>>2874514
Still have to pay for food and lodging.
>>2874521
Um yes sweaty, flights are hovering around 200. Less if you want to fly Spirit.
>>
>>2874512
>which can be worse than the shittiest of weather or heaviest of bags.
dont gate agents just scan your ticket lol?
>>
>>2874542
Look up "spirit passenger" on yt and tell me that these wagies don't have combat experience.
>>
>>2874425
not OP but how
i could work at lowes or something but that seems retarded
>>
>>2874551
ight, but i am right though, technically all they have to do is scan a ticket and keep a stiff upper lip
