Can someone tell me about this state. I might have to live here for a year or so.What’s it like outside Nashville and Memphis in the smaller towns? Is it just old people and overweight people? Is it boring or things to do?
>>2874669If you think it's bad why are you going there? I don't get people like you
>>2874671Relative of mine lives there and I’d get to temporarily stay there rent free
>>2874669Memphis is one of the the worst places to live in the US. Nashville is a muh up and coming city pretending to be 2011 Brooklyn. Everything else is olds and fats.
Memphis is one of the 2 worst US cities I've ever been to. Maybe St Louis was worse? The weather was definitely worse in Memphis. I never felt safe for even one minute. I do like the hiking east of Nashville. There are lots of great waterfalls and parks. Chattanooga has great white water rafting. Gatlinburg is a nightmarish hellscape tourist trap. The mountains are pretty, but it rains way too much.
On a tous quelque chose en nous, de Tennessee
Memphis has blues, bbq, Graceland and one of the highest violent crime rates in the nation. Nashville is like whitebread Vegas but there’s a lot of real country music behind the pop country schlock if that’s your thing. The further east you go the more scenic it gets. Chattanooga has Civil War battlefields and is underrated as a midsize city. Knoxville is the big university town but not much else happening. I’m from the south so I’m ok with rednecks and small towns. Don’t act like a tard and people will accept you.
>>2874673I live in the Eastern side. And meth and mountains. And every big store (such as Ikea) being almost exactly 5 hours away making it JUST annoying enough for you not to want to bother. Oh and political issues I wont get into, but know if youre not a white Protestant, while the people will be generally friendly, the actual on paper laws will be less so. Racism n whatnot is more casual here, but less hostile I find, compared to living in Boston as a teen.
Memphis' local govt was culturally enriched around 1991 and went from the cleanest city in America to being too corrupt and too low-IQ to function. Most of the populace that can afford to has fled to surrounding counties and suburbs (or relocated entirely). You kinda need to know what areas are safe, but thanks to Section 8 housing and other policies, the list of those areas is getting quite thin. The National Guard surge is a band-aid on a gaping wound. East Tennessee hasn't been destroyed by Zog/Neo-Zimbabweans yet. So I'm reluctant to gas it up too much. Lots of hiking opportunities there and Nuclear power plants.Nashville has always been a hub for the country music scene, I guess the Midwest and Rustbelt types started fleeing there after their economies and cities were destroyed.I mean mind most of America to be kinda boring, so IDK what TN more or less exciting for you. Maybe if you named some interests or anything else.
>>2874691tennessee is annoyingly christian, but the part west of chatt/knoxville and east of nashville is quite pretty in parts
>>2874733>tennessee is annoyingly christianFor someone not used to it, all the churches, giant crosses, billboards and weird handmade “Get Right With God!” type signs can be jarring. No one’s going to forcible convert you at gunpoint but you’ll get a lot of southern fried Ned Flanders annoying behavior. Take up someone’s invite to church and meet a nice girl!
>>2874697I kinda enjoy dangerous American cities in a sick way, its like choosing the hardest difficulty level. If you go to a dangerous country then you always have to be on edge.
>>2874691>but know if youre not a white Protestant,>>2874733>tennessee is annoyingly christianThen stick to coastal cities, bugmen
Retards and rednecks on the east side. Crime and faggots on the west side
>>2874669Memphis is a complete shithole that should be avoided at all costs. Nashville is boring unless you're really into country music. Knoxville is ok if you're college age and go to the strip on the weekend during the university school year. Chattanooga is actually quite nice if you avoid the "culturally enriched" areas.>What’s it like outside Nashville and Memphis in the smaller towns? Is it just old people and overweight people?Yeah pretty much, those that aren't overweight are methheads. We've got a lot of nature, particularly east of Nashville. If you're into hiking or backpacking some spots I'd recommend besides the Smokies are Savage Gulf and Frozen Head State Park.
>>2875055Any places to go shoot innawoods?
>>2875571Not legally. Most WMA and some state parks have ranges though, usually a small fee of $5 or so. If you do find somewhere please pick up after yourself and leave no trace. Some landowners will tolerate foot traffic but as soon as people start trashing the place it gets gated and posted signs go up, I've seen it happen several times.
>>2875571Do you think this is the West? The South has little public land.
>>2874669Memphis air smells like pure poison. It was the first time I had ever seen a place closer to India than America
>>2874672faggot
I'm literally here right now. Big South Fork is great. >>2875757>beautiful state filled with nature>I know, I will go to the former cotton plantation area instead
>>2876449>Big South ForkHave the wildfires affected you? I figured they would've closed the area to hikers.
>>2876497well, its raining now, but I actually haven't noticed any haze here at all, the smokies were MUCH more polluted and hazy when I was there last monthI think just yahoo falls is closed and I saw that last year (very nice, metal steps are somewhat terrifying if wet I think you can go around them)also big south fork is a relatively large area, and there's various tracts of state park, state forest, and national forest connecting to it and extending over an even larger area
Lovely state. Eastern Mountains are beautiful. TN has some of the best fishing in the country. Nashville is fun but Memphis is full of blacks and should be cordoned off
>>2874669Knoxville is pretty comfy, and the smokys were great when I went solo hiking, albeit pretty popular with tourists. No income tax is great but the sales tax is unreal. Nashville obviously has way more city shit to do but less nature. Can confirm there are a bunch of retarded christ cucks everywhere. Like, the kind that don't believe in dinosaurs or other galaxies kind of retarded.
>>2874669I spent a week in Unicoi in a business trip and I felt it was comfy and nice
>>2876535>the smokies were MUCH more polluted and hazyHaze isn't pollution>>2876888>a bunch of retarded christ cucks everywhereOh no white Christians! Better stay in Memphis or Knoxville where it's safe lol
>>2874669Mostly just small tows without a whole lot to see and do other than typical small town shit like seeing the local battlefield or historic house. East Tennessee is pretty great, especially in the mountains. Some of the most scenic spots in the region are there. Chattanooga does not have a whole lot outside of hiking and fishing. The further west you go, the more shit and dilapidated everything becomes until you reach the Mississippi, where everything is ghetto and there are deepwater river nigs hiding out everywhere. They will steal anything out of your car down to the unused old McDonalds napkins.
>>2874678I used to live in downtown St Louis, few blocks from the arch and Busch stadium. Memphis is worse by miles.
>>2877010>Mostly just small tows without a whole lot to see and do other than typical small town shit like seeing the local battlefield or historic house.unless you like nature and hiking...>Chattanooga does not have a whole lot outside of hiking and fishing.actually in my exp the food is pretty good and there's some interesting places to try but its kinda snooty/expensive/hipster at least as far as the south goes, but its definitely a cultural oasis, and honestly not THAT far from Atlanta so maybe there's some influx/influence from there.>The further west you go, the more shit and dilapidated everything becomesactually it gets nicer as you head west from chatt/knox cuz there's lots of nice hills and hiking but eventually it starts to flatten out and get boring but most people stay in the smokies containment zone and don't explore the hiking that's west of knox and chatt. >>2877011It would be fun to visit Memphis and wear 19th century antebellum plantation outfits like a big ball gown for a lady and top and tails for a man and bring a black guy and walk him around on all 4s and ask strangers if they want to buy him
>>2874669I have never been to Tennessee where it wasn't pouring rain out of the several times I've driven through it or layovered in nashville.
>>2874673>>2874691Is there a lot of trees and forests there? Is land cheap? I just wanna live in a camper innawoods
>>2877749West Tennessee has a few forests, but it's mostly farmland. Central TN has more wooded areas for sure. East TN you start to get more mountainous Appalachian vibes with black bears and such. Some people get real spooked out about Appalachia. There are random sighting of cougars throughout the state, and coyotes and Red Wolves in West TN. Something to be aware of as well. In terms of price, the closer you get to Nashville, the higher it will be. I would probably look at the region around Camden TN.
>>2877552its been dry as fuck in almost the entire American SE and there's been on and off drought for the last 3-4 years
