In Singapore now for the first time in a while. Most of the bars I liked seem to have closed, and most of the former nightlife areas are empty. Hotel bars are full of 50-year old Brits and Australians.Where the fuck do people go out here now? Where can I go an drink in a nice environment?
How the fuck do you not find bars in Singapore? let me guess you're staying in little india or near mosque street where they cracked down hard on bars on those places because an indian drunken riot(look it up). Most Singapore has clubs, some pubs, and upper-class style drinking you're not going to find cheap old pub or chinese bar selling cheap beers. Most singaporians don't drink that late due to the insane cost of alcohol, the ones that do go to a club or party. The locals who do drink pregame heavily at home prior to going out. If you think you can swing by the same vibe you get in Bangkok, Philippines, Vietnam, Bali, etc. you went to the wrong place lol. Singapore is a business and resort focused country, not an average /trv/ I got 50 quid for the weekend! LADS NOIGHT OUT!!!1 50 dollars will get you like 4 maybe 5 drinks. Maybe try around Sentosa or the tech district(use Kanpai 2.0 as a land mark)
>>2876373There are bars, they're just shit. There were many more casual bars with a better balance of locals/tourists when I was here before. Club Street used to be bustling and the vibe was fantastic. Clarke Quay was always overpriced but still fun. Boat Quay was the cheaper equivalent but now it's all turned into tourist trap restaurants. The fancy rooftop / hotel bars also had younger people in them and now they seem to be catering specifically to the retiree population of England. There were more clubs around.I am just confused because 1) I honestly struggle to believe that the 1-2 million of young people who live in this city just don't go out at all, 2) surely at least the younger tourists must also be going out somewhere.
>>2876382>Where can I go an drink in a nice environment?Singapore has many bars where you can get a nice and pricey drink, honestly open google map, search bar and most bar around you are gonna be great if you are somewhat in the citybut the truth is: 1/ most young people you're talking about are in groups already 2/ the singaporean night life is not good 3/ most young people in fact do NOT go out, and if they do they do with close friend to get drunk probably in a park or at someone's house if their parent are not around. alcohol is very expensive in singaporei grew up there and left when i was 19 years old, i went back a few years later when i started to solo travel and because i still have family there, singapore is easily one of the worst destination if you are solo that wants to party compared to the rest of asia. it's too fuckng expensive. probably you can meet ppl and have a nice time, but you have to work hard for it. take a cheap plane to thailand and party there
>>2876382>There are bars, they're just shit. There were many more casual bars with a better balance of locals/tourists when I was here before.Yes there are bars, yes there are casual ones, I listed one in my post the tech/bank sector has some good ones. Kanpai 2.0 is exactly why I listed it.Alcohol is expensive as shit dude, a bottle of smirnoff was ~78 USD last time I was there for a 1liter. Every time I go there, I go once a year for 2 weeks work shit, and run into someone exactly like you. >Club Street used to be bustling and the vibe was fantastic. Was the last time you were here before covid? lol get with the time grampsWages have stagnated hard unless you are scamming the markets, people don't give a FUCK about drinking before going out for 1-2 beers and going back home/family known place that will give them a deal.>1) I honestly struggle to believe that the 1-2 million of young people who live in this city just don't go out at all,"why don't these kids wanna drink at hooters! it's fine here in singapore!">2) surely at least the younger tourists must also be going out somewhere.the tourists going to singapore are often businessmen taking their family along with them, holy fuck how old are you? The ones that do go out go for specific events and drinking occasions. My guy, the serious drinker crowd of singapore will just take a bus or drive to Johor for the night where their money goes 5x as far and spending a night drinking+hotel is equal to that of one bar tab in singapore.
>>2876395>be 29>go to an event after my work is finished for the time around singapore>have 4-5 pints>meet up with some local friends I made from work>shocked I had so much ask me if I am richI never will understand why people go to singapore for the vibe shit they think they can get elsewhere. Singapore has to import everything, it's also somewhat non alcoholic by the religions that occupy a fair bit of it and the price of it. Most everyone I know who do drink, drink at home, then maybe go out for 1-2 maybe 3 beers at a place drinking actual tiger bullshit.I like singapore a lot because you can see the country in a week, but man it's not a place to party or nightlife in without a specific reason.
>>2876400singapore is a place you go to make money or raise a family. even if booze was cheap it's just not in the mindset to party. and even if it was you don't want to party with most young singaporean unless you are friends with them already, rich or poor
>>2876403I'd argue the events that are held there make it nice, but going in respect to how most go to countries on this board go to other countries; it's way off the mark. Most young singapore people I know would rather just stay home and play video games, the ones I know that do drink go to Johor to stock up for cheap.
