I once took a grab car from Mall of Asia in Manila to my Airbnb in Makati and it took almost 3 hours. I do have a special place on my heart for Manila but Id say Bangkok.

I would hardly call it latam, though there are some areas that should not be frequented at night due to the likelihood of there being drug addicts with nothing to lose.
But you’ll never go those places either way if you’re not dumb.

Makati, BGC, Alabang and probably Aseana are good too, though I won’t say Manila is superior in the slightest because Bangkok is just overall a more developed and interesting place where you don’t need to look as hard for quality accommodations for $50.
It’s unfortunately quite poor with visible misery in certain areas like street children coming up to ask you for money and shanty towns in many places.
I wouldn’t call it an irredeemable place to avoid because there are some cool things to do still.

Do Angkas/Joyride if you dare. I’ve had no issues personally, it saves alot of time and it’s kinda fun, but an N95 mask is a must with all those jeepneys having zero DPF.
