Do you plug up before travelling?Whether its the airplane, train, coach - its a new revelation for me. I always just wore headphones for the whole travel day and sometimes its tedious.Whether its blocking out the ambient noise, or there is a cranky baby, or 3rd worlder talking on their phone, or some drunk chavs and chavettes It made last journey so much more comfy.Foam plugs are ok. The christmastree ones ive had one good pair one seemingly useless pairNewly tried wax plugs, feel gross in your hand, but worked extremely well. could still hear when attendant has to talk to you, but can ignore everything else
>>2877300I plug up alrightNot my ears thoTehee

No. Hearing is an essential part of my situational awareness while in public. Otherwise you'll be like one of those normalfaggots who gets attacked and freezes up, caught completely off guard because you weren't paying attention. BTW this only happened once to me, and it was when I was wearing earphones and ignored this sketchy ass dude who walked up to me saying something. He then slapped me across the face with the T-shirt he held in his hand.If I need earplugs to sleep, that means something is wrong with the living situation. Yeah, sometimes you have to make do with the shitty budget hotel you ended up at, but my travel goal is always to sleep in a room so quiet that earplugs are pointless.

I plug up in planes and hostel beds, I wouldn't in public in a foreign country, see>>2878154
>>2878150this honestly has changed my travel life, plus the active translation
i think of all the times ive gotten a hotel room and its the 2nd floor and its some town where dozens of people ride dirtbikes thru town (palma de mallorca). or u rent a travelodge in london - just outside your window there is overnight construction on the underground and the maintenance door is buzzing outisde the window all night. Or a random hotel in madrid, during the day time they were doing renovations on the same floor in a neighboring room.
>>2877300I cannot sleep with shit stuck in my ears. I just sleep if I am tired. If it is noisy then whatever I just roll on my side and get down to what needs be done.
It doesn't block out all sound and vibrations Also the smell, bad air, lack of fucking room to move around, unless you have private transport it's hell
>>2878154>>2878234gain situational awareness? look before crossing the street/check surroundings for people? build a threatening physique and demeanor?idk i know ur both probably autistic but i have never seen this be a problem.
>>2878515I'm not going to walk down the street darting my head around like a chicken. Situational awareness is primarily an issue of dealing with traffic in Asian countries, not of robbers or other lowlifes. I can judge the size of a vehicle by the noise it makes coming up behind me, and react accordingly. Wearing headphones in public is peak NPC behavior. Such people are always zoned out and completely oblivious to those around them. Whereas in America especially I'm never relaxed in a diverse environment. Anything can happen at any moment, and I must be ready to respond in a split second.
I wear my Bose noise cancelling headphones on the airplane. Can't hear shit going on outside so I'm hesitant to buy the more discrete Airpod Pros in case those don't work as well. I wouldn't wear my Bose headphones while walking around on the street since I wanna be fully aware in case of cars, bicyclists, ladrones, etc.
>>2878512>It doesn't block out all sound and vibrationssure, but why listen to all the riffraff when you can reduce it
>>2877300earplugs are great, even for neurotypicals, in the modern world I don't think a lot of people realise how taxing everyday environments can be on your nervous system.Surefire EP series are probably the best for travelling imo, they're super comfy and low-profile.picrel are the ones I've got (ep4)
>>2878515I have a decent physique, I don't think anyone would try and fight me. You know its also nice to have the sounds of the countries/places you visit? it definitely adds to the experience
>>2878635AirPod Pros aren’t as good as Bose QC but they’re pretty good and much smaller. Sometimes I’ll swap between them on a 10+ hour flight.
>>2878237what's even the point of active translation? if a local already knows you are a foreigner why would they keep talking in their native language? unless they're all aware of the live translation feature?
>>2878150>Applefag>ANCEnjoy your tinnitus, you get what you deserve>>2878787Also this, never mind if they do keep speaking to me in whatever language... How is the wearer supposed to respond?
Must have for sleeping in a hostel. Without it your quality of sleep is at the mercy of some retard doing stupid shit at 5am.
>>2878841a certain portion of the population does not recognize when someone else is impaired - be it language barrier or otherwise
>>2878118>xir please step aside for a randomly selected screening
>>2877300I use ones to help with the pressure of take off and landing, or in general if my ears are sore.I tried wax before but couldn't work them out and they seem impossible to clean
>>2877300I generally want to hear any announcements of problems while flying, so no.I always make sure to wear 100% non-plastic clothing. No polyester, no "stretch jeans". Just 100% cotton bluejeans and usually a silk shirt (because that's what I wear 99% of the time anyway). These clothes won't incinerate me and stick to my skin if there's a fire.
