Post some of your favorite motels you stayed at. Nothing better than a cheap and unique motel to rest your weary head. This one was in the middle of nowhere in Idaho. It was like -5F outside (-20C) but so warm and toasty inside (see pic in thread)God I love motels. Mom and pop motels are cheaper than chains and are made with love. The guy who owns this place was so cool and so nice.
Man I am getting sense memory of how toasty and warm it was in there. I slept like a baby. I had a long day out in the cold. Even blasting heat in the car didn't make me feel the cozy I needed. But that motel did.
There's so many people who live in places like those. It's so depressing.
>>2878381>>2878382>>2878383>>2878385Non american here, Hollywood has conditioned me to think motels are where sleazy characters go to commit crime. This place looks remarkably better than the typical movie motel, the entrances especially look comparatively fancy.
>>2878381The only times I stay in motels is when I'm on a road trip in America, and I stay at the cheapest ones. They're all terrible. Some I honestly feared for my life
>>2878391There's a lot of really shitty motels lol but there's also a lot of gems. I've stayed in so many from ones that are essentially crack dens and prostitute hovels to ones that are so comfy and cozy they put a 5 star hotel to shameWhen I was last in Albuquerque I had to... pic relatedhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYxgSlDKuzcman the SOVL of the grit and grime of ABQ is crazy
>>2878392Avoid chains and you'll be surprised what a difference it makes. Chains are so shitty. Motels that are a passion project are always amazing (and often cheaper)
>>2878381>god i love motelsThey're disgusting. Located at some random roadside location, nothing within walking distance. Mattress soaked with the sweat of numerous mating baboons. A sour reek of stale food and B.O. pervading the room, perhaps masked with the pungent smell of room freshener.>>2878382Those stupid antiquated window A/C units that make a loud racket...but at least you can't hear the traffic noise when it is running. >>2878385>woah, it had heating! That wouldn't be such a big plus if you flew off to tropical Asia during the winter like any sane and rational person does, where a cold snap is 25 C with sunshine.>>2878394>comfy and cozyWould rather sleep on my van mattress somewhere back in the hills far away from people, stoned on good weed and gloating about the fact that I paid all of $3 in gasoline to get to my campsite, while you motelcucks are shelling out $75+ to stay with a bunch of lowlife mutts.
The 29 Palms Inn in California is the best motel I've ever seen. It's not really a motel. It's actually like 10 mini cabins. They built it next to a natural Desert Spring. You can see all kinds of wildlife. We saw a pack of Coyotes. The rooms are all individually decorated and nice. It has a really good restaurant on the property and a super nice pool. But, it's California and the prices have gone insane. It's $200+ per night these days.

I stayed at a shitty Indian owned motel that was exactly at the POV of this infamous meme photograph. It’s Breezewood, PA, aka “Gas Vegas” where the Pennsylvania Turnpike meets an interstate and it’s not as awful as the angle and photo lens make it seem. It’s just like any other interstate exit with gas stations and the surrounding area is all mountains and forests.

>>2878810Breezewood has some fun things to do in that area. Seven Springs is about an hour away. That's a really great little ski resort.
>>2878920There's an overlook somewhere on the terrace mountain trail near Raystown Lake (which is in your picture-set), but I can't figure out where exactly it is, and I'm too intimidated to contact the Army that runs it. I think there's also an overlook at the Seven Springs Ski Resort that's accessible to hikers too but I can't figure out where that is or if it's worth it. I think most people in Breezewood would be better served by keep on keeping on towards Ohiopyle and the Laurel Highlands. I've always wondered why they've never tried to do more tourism development right in and around Breezewood itself.
Carolina beach is great they got a bunch right on the beach
