Flight prices are so fucked right now and I'm scared
Is this a blip or will it last all year
>>
It might be because I live in an irrelevant country, but flight prices are actually not that bad for me right now. It is a little higher than I would like, but it's not devastating.

I take it that it's affecting Americans and western Europeans more than anyone else?

Yes personally I'm American

>Implying they'll be back to normal in a year
Even if the Strait of Hormuz opened tomorrow insurance firms underwriting the shipping industry will have to continue pricing in the possibility of conflict for years to come. That means that shipping costs for jet fuel (and everything else t b h) will remain elevated.
Similarly the illusion of safety that Gulf countries relied on to attract foreign investment for their ports and refineries has been shattered, that means supply costs will remain high too.
Then you've got the impact on airports and airlines passing through Gulf airspace.

God I hope it doesn't get worse though. If Trump is actually stupid enough to invade then things won't be back to normal for decades. At least now we have a unified government to negotiate with, imagine a 20 year insurgency in the model of Iraq or Afghanistan with a dozen splinter groups all with the capability to lob missiles or drones at any passing ship.

Why is this board so plagued with low effort ADD posters? Focus, you jitterbug. Stop doomscrolling and start diving deep into Google Flights or Skyscanner, jotting down prices and itineraries and dates on a note app or even a piece of paper as you hunt for an overseas escape that won't break the bank.

My circumnavigation of the world from the US East Coast to the US West Coast on this current trip cost me $1167 in airfare. Raleigh, Paris, Mumbai, Kathmandu, Bangkok, Taipei, Los Angeles.

If you want to travel abroad affordably in current year, you must let the airline determine when you are flying and even where you are flying to.

To be fair there would be a ton of political pressure to get prices down
