China BTFO American, European, and Japanese theme parks edition

>Last Thread: >>2879702

Summer season is now on!

>What is this thread? Why are there two generals?
/rcg/ was initially created as a way for the roller coaster enthusiasts on here to discuss all things roller coasters and theme parks. While roller coasters are the main focus of these threads (and the title of the general) there is also discussion on other theme parks, their rides, as well as the parks themselves and trip planning too. That's where /tpg/ comes in.
>Can I talk about Disney/Universal parks in this thread?
Absolutely! Disney/Universal discussion of all sorts including rides/resorts/dining/trip planning is OK.

General Rules:
1. Talk about Theme Parks and Rollercoasters.
2. There is no second rule.

Disney shrubbery status? Any Disney restroom remodeling going on? What about Disney gift shops - any of them getting new paint or flooring? Disney restaurants: anyone have the details on new signage anywhere? I sure do hate how the Walt Disney Corporation runs the parks, but I would never ever ever ever ever stop giving them money

I stopped giving them money for a few years. Went back reluctantly but I enjoyed it. It’s ridiculously expensive but it’s a pretty unique plans entertaining place. The micro obsession with changing bathrooms and trash cans is a bit weird but Cedar Point recently had a ribbon cutting ceremony for a remodeled bathroom so it’s not just them.

Just stumbled upon Millennium Force's original promo video after all these years, holy shit talk about kino. Has there ever been a better marketing campaign for a coaster? Even the slogan was perfect

I love shitty 90s CGI and techno and the obsession with the new millennium from this era. I was 7 at the time so core memories for me. Where was this promo even used?

I’ll remember reading a review of it from 2000. I’ll post it later. It’s funny how tame many people think it is today but it was obviously the best coaster in the world by a country mile at the time.
>>
>>2884097
>Has there ever been a better marketing campaign for a coaster?
I can't remember a major marketing campaign for a coaster since then. TTD, Maverick, and SV didn't get the same treatment.

>>2884107
>Where was this promo even used?
No idea. I remember watching it on their website in probably 144p. Too long to run as a commercial

Please do, it's interesting to read reviews of rides and parks from 20+ years ago

It still is imo and I don't even like Cedar Point

The literal best? Why? Even if traditional gigas are your thing, Fury crushes it in every way other than having a trim. That’s pretty much all I can give MF right now - long with no braking. But even that is because it doesn’t do much of anything it needs to slow down for.

It is only a matter of time before THC products begin being sold in parks. My guess is Six Flags starts the trend. 1/3rd of the people entering the parks are doing some form of gummy or vape product at this point and CEOs hate untapped forms of revenue.
>>
>>2883985
Spent 11 hours at EPCOT this week and the average guest has NO IDEA how much horticulture has changed since late April. The west side planters near Imagination were quietly reworked again — they removed at least 3 mature scheffleras and replaced the ground cover with lower-maintenance bromeliads that clash horribly with the original 1982 sightline philosophy. It’s over.

Also noticed fresh mulch patterns around the UK pavilion lagoon path and they’re clearly transitioning away from the denser Victorian-style layering they had pre-COVID. The new spacing between shrubs is wider, probably for easier overnight maintenance vehicle access. You can literally SEE backstage operational compromises bleeding into guest areas now.

Meanwhile Magic Kingdom added new ornamental grasses near the Tomorrowland bridge and they already look sunburned because whoever approved the irrigation timing does not understand Central Florida heat retention. The old purple fountain grass setup looked objectively better at night under the area lighting.

People think Disney decline is about rides. No. It starts with shrubbery decisions made by accountants.
>>
>>2884176
>You can literally SEE backstage operational compromises bleeding into guest areas now.
Grim. They're literally not even hiding it anymore.

Thanks for the report, anon. After I renew my AP and get some exclusive merch with it, I swear this company won't get another dollar from me (except for eating and shopping at Disney Springs).

America's numerous social problems have produced heavy demand for mind-numbing drugs. Our government wont do anything to fix income inequality, atomization, healthcare access and yadda yadda but will absolutely crack the fuck down on a plant that makes you feel better about it.

Anyways, back to theme parks. I think THC products are inevitable, especially as rates of alcohol use continue to plummet. It will start with the regional parks who will see financial success with becoming weed friendly. Then Universal will dip their toes into it. In your lifetime you will see a Donald Duck themed THC seltzer sold at EPCOT.

I also think some sort of Polymarket or Fan Duel type system will be implemented in theme parks somehow. Like a bar themed around it at City Walk or Disney Springs. Companies do not have moral objections to making money beyond a certain threshold.

It's definitely been outclassed as far as gigas go, but it's still a great ride, easy top 15 for me (although granted I don't have a lot of credits to my name as of yet). Don't think I've ever ridden a coaster that maintains its speed throughout its layout as well as MF does, you haul ass throughout the entirety of the journey.

I also don't get why people say there's no airtime, I always get decent floater on the two camelbacks headed on and off the island, no matter where I sit
>>
>>2884241
> Don't think I've ever ridden a coaster that maintains its speed throughout its layout as well as MF does, you haul ass throughout the entirety of the journey.
Have great respect for MF, and it’s one of the best in the world IMO, but wait until you ride Iron Gwazi
>>
>>2884241
I have it 28 out of almost 300. I had it #3 until recently when I rode it again and realized it was overrating it (it was my 105th or so credit, so lots of rides since then). I’d still put it #1 for maintaining speed. Love the lack of brakes. I can’t agree on the airtime. It’s okay but hypers/gigas from that era clearly hadn’t figured out the optimum camelback dimensions yet. The newer B&Ms will have you out of your seat the entire hill.
>>2884252
Difference is Gwazi is only 47 seconds. Millennium is 110 IIRC. The only rides I know of that can compete with that are Voyage and Steel Vengeance and only when running trimless.

Pantherian is a failcoaster. They're going to remove that piece of shit when they pay off the loans. Ambitious but turned out to be a big L for KD
>>
>>2884255
>It’s okay but hypers/gigas from that era clearly hadn’t figured out the optimum camelback dimensions yet.
They were figuring out what a giga coaster should be. Making Magnum but 100 feet taller wasn't going to cut it. The designers had to make MF different, but there wasn't anything to pattern it on.

Seems like an amazing idea for companies that want people buying more shit or more food.
But awful for companies that really need people following the rules and staying out of No Go zones.

Really high people will not mind standing in some shitty line for an hour and a half but they also will not think twice about wandering into some shitty or dangerous area, and will not follow instructions like make sure a seat belt is fastened. Or make sure nothing is on your head before a coaster takes off.

>>2884193

>>2884315
The problem is there is no agreed upon definition of Disney Adult and what it is. It is as expansive or select, as negative or positive as the person wants it
It has be said to be anything from "kicks kid out of the way injuring them to meet Bluey first" to "makes their entire life about Disney and will not shut up about it and spend tens of thousands of dollars" to "really into Disney but never discusses it publicly" to "been to the theme park before not being a kid" to "really into 1/2 of their IPs but nothing else" to "watched any of their content" to "having any interest that is not wage slaving for billionaires".

Yes. The Theme Park wars have reignited with Epic Universe. Every single park has projects in development and projects beyond that havent been announced yet.

Universal has the Fast and Furious coaster, Supercharged replacement, Simpsons replacement, Lost Continent replacement and Paris expansion to counter. Should be an interesting decade. We might even see a new park announced.

>>2884487
Drinking THC is not the same thing as smoking it. Smoking is bad for your lungs regardless of what you light on fire. Drinking or eating THC bypasses that. I wouldn't say it's "healthy" but it's not nearly as bad for you as alcohol is, but alcohol is normalized in American culture so people assume THC is worse for you.
>>
>>2884489
>Smoking is bad for your lungs regardless of what you light on fire.
This.
Idiots don't realize that particulate matter generally is the main driver of lung cancer in smokers. Some specific inhaled chemicals don't help, but the main killer is just tiny, solid, particles.

Pretty much everything but Epcot.

Magic Kingdom has the Cars Land and Villains Land projects
Animal Kingdom has South America land and Rafiki's planet watch
Hollywood Studios has Monsters Inc land and Animation Courtyard
There is also the rides being overhauled like Muppets, Soarin, Big Thunder Mountain, Carousel of Progress,

The main reason is that Disney could not get building permits approved by the state during the time DeSantis was having his little tirade against them so this is all the building projects and repairs of 2019-2024 all crammed together.

No one really gives a shit about the Living with the Land boat ride or the Figment ride. They just like the dragon mascot as a plushie. I'm kind of surprised Figment is still there and not replaced by Inside Out characters by now.

A nicer dark ride that takes you to more interesting places than a fake plastic hydroponics greenhouse would be a better idea for Land. Maybe something that covers the stages of plant life, different world climate zones and the plants that grow there or farming in history. Anything but floating through a fake bell peppers and tomatoes farm.

I do miss the old science museum stuff. Science museums are fun, too bad Disney does not care to have their own higher quality version of one in their parks. But kids playing on giant plastic body parts and playing with sound does not keep them moving and buying things. so it has to go.

Figment's legitimately one of the top selling characters in Florida.

>Believing that the parks must get worse because you're afraid the company won't make enough money
Do Disney adults really?
