Walt edition>Last Thread: >>2883952Summer season is now on!>What is this thread? Why are there two generals?/rcg/ was initially created as a way for the roller coaster enthusiasts on here to discuss all things roller coasters and theme parks. While roller coasters are the main focus of these threads (and the title of the general) there is also discussion on other theme parks, their rides, as well as the parks themselves and trip planning too. That's where /tpg/ comes in.>Can I talk about Disney/Universal parks in this thread?Absolutely! Disney/Universal discussion of all sorts including rides/resorts/dining/trip planning is OK.General Rules:1. Talk about Theme Parks and Rollercoasters.2. England's weather and not really being a "Euro" location, Spain's economy being a bit less secure and fewer locals likely to prop it up, the French. The prospect of either Universal or Disney being a short car journey from Dagenham was funny but they both saw in advance that the location was going to be greater-crested-newted. British theme parks can only ever be on the grounds of stately homes or quarries/clay pits.

I like universal studios because it's less popular than Disney and thus less people to deal with, especially brazilians and other thirdies

>>2887166To be honest, it drives me nuts that the parks won't do regular straws just because of lib politics. Joffreys is directly in the park and they do plastic but Disney and Universal can't. It drives me nuts how liberals do little things to screw up businesses. Anyway the blue was too sweet. The green was good. Very light. I liked it. It bothers me that curiosity forced me to spend $20. $10 for one drink is ridiculous. I've noticed that skipping lines with no shame has become more popular. If B&M is so good why are they not making big coasters for big parks?
>>2887359You can't have my data
>>2887308It's still Disney really really half ass slapping some shit together and assuming fans will love it any damn way. Same with the Avatar land in Animal Kingdom. It's just...a weird viney covered rock thing with a restaurant, and that was supposed to be their attempt at competing with the Wizarding World at Universal. Universal seems to be trying really hard to perfectly recreate scenes from the movies and make attractions match them as much as they can. While Disney just sort of make up something that is kinda sorta on theme a little, but not from any movie at all, and tries not to be either, then demands everyone love it just as much.
Why did the Smugglers Run refresh fail so badly?
>>2887372?? B&M made several coasters for Universal if that’s what you meant by “big parks”. I suspect they won’t be making many more coasters in the US with the closure of Clermont Steel (after terminating the contract)
>>2887372Because they’re not that good. They make a very narrow range of products. They could never have made a Stardust, Guardians or Hagrid’s.
Anybody been on The Racer at Kings Island in recent years? It used to be rough and nothing special but now it’s a smooth air time machine that’s right up there with Phoenix at Knobel’s IMO
>>2887415Because it's the exact same shit as before, only you now have Din's ship flying around in front of you, and a monitor with Grodu making weird annoying noises is constantly on at all times. The ride is more annoying now. Nothing got any better. It's Smuggler's Run, but also with Grogu-Vision playing throughout.
>>2887418B&M needs to evolve. Seaworld/United called their relationship with Vekoma (who makes the ride system for their new dark ride) a “partnership” and suggested more rides are coming. This probably means they’re divorcing B&M after a 33 year run. Six Flags is also going to keep working with them and I suspect the new dive at SFOT will be the last B&M in the chain. Vekoma’s more recent family inverts are better than B&M’s family inverts. I think they’re the top coaster maker at the moment. Smoothest rides, lighting and sound on the trains, great layouts, extremely reliable, and they’re not super expensive especially if you get a clone layout where you’re not paying for the R&D
>>2887429>This probably means they’re divorcing B&M after a 33 year run.How stupid are thoosiesBuying a ride isn't a marriage, parks buy them singularly most of the time. Rarely do they go in on multi-ride deals. They're not locked into a relationship with each other
>>2887421Yep. I thought it was great.>it’s a smooth air time machine that’s right up there with Phoenix at Knobel’s IMOLet's not get carried away.
>>2887429>B&M needs to evolve.I don't see why they can't get by just peddling their shit to China indefinitely.>This probably means they’re divorcing B&M after a 33 year run.Not surprising considering the trash B&M installed recently at both Busch Gardens and SWO. >Six Flags is also going to keep working with them and I suspect the new dive at SFOT will be the last B&M in the chain. If it's the last one in the chain then they're not going to keep working with them.>Vekoma’s more recent family inverts are better than B&M’s family inverts. True but far more impressive are their family launch coasters (Big Bear Mountain). Actually fun for parents instead of just tolerable.>I think they’re the top coaster maker at the moment. Smoothest rides, lighting and sound on the trains, great layouts, extremely reliable, and they’re not super expensive especially if you get a clone layout where you’re not paying for the R&DAll around yeah. They can't reach Intamin's heights but they can do everything else.
>>2887443He was being figurative you retard. Sea World and Busch have bought predominantly from B&M for years. SWO is majority B&M.
>>2887449So what? Parks buy what they think will get people in the front gate. That changes all the time. The US is saturated with B&Ms now, it's not surprising that you see demand for them tapering off since every park that wanted them already has at least one, usually more. Thoosies are so fucking clueless
>>2887415Because it's the least advertised of the recent changes, in support of a movie that's going to be the lowest grossing Live Action Star Wars movie
>>2887416I mean rides like >>2887418
>>2887451You must enjoy being a dick. Seaworld is their biggest customer and has bought every single model except the wing and the old stand up (but they have Pipeline). They don’t have a giga but a B&M giga has appeared in their surveys for the past couple years. They’ve used Premier, Mack, Intamin, and RMC too but B&M has been their go-to since Kumba. You could say they have more than enough B&Ms but that was also true a decade ago and they bought a lot more B&Ms
>>2887474>Seaworld is their biggest customerI would say Six Flags or maybe some operator in China is.What was your point?
>>2887476My point is you’re a fucking miserable asshole. Touch grass (you can do that on Kumba!)
>>2887451>Parks buy what they think will get people in the front gate.Obviously not or they wouldn’t buy B&Ms. There’s a very clear inverse correlation between B&M ownership and attendance and ticket price. Fewer B&Ms means higher attendance and ticket price (see Disney/Universal). More B&Ms means low attendance and ticket price (Six Flags).B&M purchases are mainly due to lobbying by the maintenance unions because they’re easier so service.
>>2887476It’s Six Flags by the raw number (51 I think before the sell-offs), but Sea World by number per park (3 on average).
>>2887481Oh and you can see this even in similar markets. The least attended park in SoCal is Magic Mountain, which has four B&Ms (the only park with more than one). The most attended is Disney with zero.Same in Florida, the least attended parks are Busch and Sea World with four and five B&Ms (again only parks with more than one), while the most are all the Disney and Universal parks (only B&M is Hulk).B&Ms were never money printers but it’s truer now more than ever.
>>2887484The least attended parks in Socal would be places like Legoland and Santa Monica Pier, also with no B&Ms.
>>2887487I was referring to major amusement parks, not children’s or small parks. Same reason I didn’t include Sesame Place here >>2887483, just the Sea World and Busch properties.
>>2887487>LegolandNeed to have a kid with you to get in.
>>2887477I accept your concession.
>>2887477Kumba sucks so bad it has limited hours despite running one train lel. It’ll be the next to get the Python/Scorpion treatment.
>>2887500>Replacing an old B&M looper with a new B&M gigaGood upgrade ngl
>>2887500There’s no future for Kumba. It’s definitely on its last legs.>>2887502If it still happens. B&M is supposedly using Stakotra for track from now on (Intamin’s steel manufacturer). A giga is going to be prohibitively more expensive than it already was. It will cost at least $50 million and the locals would have to sign off on it too. Falcon’s Fury exists so there is a good chance a giga would be good to go. I think the giga project is dead unless they get somebody else to make one.
>>2887514>There’s no future for Kumba. It’s definitely on its last legs.I've heard enthusiasts saying this for a few years. I don't see any reason why it has to go other than just not being a draw anymore, which may be the case.>A giga is going to be prohibitively more expensive than it already was.Not necessarily, the price of a roller coaster is elastic so an increase in the price of production doesn't equate to an increase in the price the park will pay. The manufacturer may have to eat some or all of the higher cost of inputs (if that's the case) in order to stay competitive in the market.>It will cost at least $50 millionMaybe, maybe not.>and the locals would have to sign off on it too.Locals only get an indirect say in it, they'd have to complain to their city council. Like you said, since they've already got a 300 foot tall attraction, it would be difficult for a planning board to say no to another one of comparable height.

>>2887502It would be if they don't half-ass it like they have everything else lately. I'm surprised no one has given them another chance on a true giga after Fury was such a success (Orion was obviously made with a shoestring budget).
>>2887514>There’s no future for Kumba. It’s definitely on its last legs.I think giving it a new coat of paint but doing nothing for the track is the evidence. BGT clearly does not care much for sentimentality.>>2887519>Not necessarily, the price of a roller coaster is elastic so an increase in the price of production doesn't equate to an increase in the price the park will pay. The manufacturer may have to eat some or all of the higher cost of inputs (if that's the case) in order to stay competitive in the market. That's where China comes in. They're used to low quality products. Relaxed tolerances = cheaper steel.
>>2887527Tallest dive. I think also tallest vertical loop.
>>2887537>What is the right move here?Seethe over it for weeks, then months, then years seems like the winning move
>>2887540>but doing nothing for the track is the evidence. What work does the track need?More importantly, do we KNOW the track needs work, or is that speculation?
>>2887526>three immelmanns and a loopSo this is the power of B&M innovation...
>>2887537I'm sorry that happened to you. I got to experience the drops on both Verbolten and Hagrid's without knowing what was coming and I'm thankful for that.
>>2887544It needs the cracks fixed, possibly a complete retracking like Hulk got. It rides like complete ass right now but it doesn't seem to be popular enough for them to care. It's also an obsolete model. There's no reason for B&M sitdowns to exist when floorless coasters exist, which is why they don't make sitdowns anymore. A new train would fix this but again, they don't care.
>>2887548>It needs the cracks fixed,Parks don't disclose stuff like this, so I consider that speculation.>It's also an obsolete model. The public either doesn't know or doesn't care about that, just enthusiasts.>A new train would fix thisThey'll have to rebuild the station, add the platens, tear out the old control system and put a new one in, plus buy the new trains to do a floorless conversion. Easily a couple to a few million dollars, but still cheaper than a new coaster.
>>2887551>Parks don't disclose stuff like this, so I consider that speculation.Tubular steel coaster tracks cracking from wear isn’t speculation, it’s a natural part running a coaster, the same way tires becoming unaligned is a part of driving a car. Fixing it is time consuming, so worth it for high demand rides, but I guess not for Kumba.>The public either doesn't know or doesn't care about that, just enthusiasts. They notice it’s less comfortable to ride than other similar rides like Kraken. They’re voting on this with their feet. Note the empty Kumba station despite only one train running.>They'll have to rebuild the station, add the platens, tear out the old control system and put a new one in, plus buy the new trains to do a floorless conversion. Easily a couple to a few million dollars, but still cheaper than a new coaster. But still maybe not worth it. Kraken is a walk-on about 70% of the time and it’s floorless, and that’s despite SWO’s shitty ops. It’s just not a draw.
>>2887545They design and build whatever a park wants.>>2887552I've been reading about the imminent demise of Kumba since around the pandemic, maybe before it. I don't see any evidence it's in worse physical or mechanical condition than a comparable ride, as far as I can tell that's just enthusiasts speculating. Floorless conversions haven't proven popular at other parks so I don't see that happening either. If it gets removed it will be because it's a 30+ year old ride that doesn't generate any front gate traffic, just like Scorpion and Python.
>all the Disney youtubers are taking trips to Dollywood now
How's SeaWorld these days? I've got a thing in Orlando late night on Friday the 19th and am considering a park for the daytime. It's probably more than 20 years since I've last been there, certainly long before I was anything near big enough for inverting coasters. The only thing I can remember riding was Atlantis.

I also don't rely on speculation. The word "gullible" is written on the ceiling above you. You're not capable of speculation. >>2887759>B&M offers fewer element types than any large coaster manufacturer.Enthusiast speculation.>You're not capable of speculation.I'm fine with that. I prefer dealing with bona fides. Been thinking of paying for a Prestige Pass for Six Flags. Was curious what their Halloween thing Fright Fest looks like. The whole ramshackle loud chainsaw brr brr horror thing doesn't appeal to me. There is an elegance to setting the stage for spooky. I wonder if any park manages to do it well.

What rides at Epic Universe do you need to walk through the queue to get the full experience, and which ones would you be fine to use and express pass and not see the queue.

>>2889410Because Brazil is a dysfunctional third world hellhole that most of the world has no interest in visiting

>>2889418Mmm I want that Mario drink

The infrastructure isn't good and it's far to reach, so prospective Disney tourists would be better served visiting elsewhere.

Btw Lost Continent is not being replaced with Pokémon. I don’t care that one of you autists will say it’s one of the most popular brands based on income nigga those numbers are inflated every time they release a game in comes in different colours and you retards have to buy each one. It’s an IP loved by the perpetually online not the GP
>>2889499Which IP is it then? I'm not a pokemon fan by any means (the girls are hot tho) but it's what's been rumored for a while
>>2889500Has universal confirmed its to be a new land? If not it could easily extend Harry Potter
>pokemon movie box office $433mNice worldwide popular brand ya got there. For reference Minecraft got $960m with perfect marketing and word of mouth. Even THAT couldn’t break a billion. So why are people convinced universal are going down the route of video games?>but muh rumours Same rumours that said F&F was going to be a ghostbusters coaster?I will say a Pokémon area in Japan makes sense. It’s like making a Paddington area in Britain. Universal aren’t idiots, it has to appeal to families, adults included, like Harry Potter and Jurassic Park
>Pikachu derangement syndrome Sad. Cant wait to see the cope after the announcement.
>>2889550They’d have more positive feedback announcing a secret life of pets area
The problem with Universalfags and Disneyfags is they console war over which IPs replacing their originals are bigger sellers for corporate to profit While other parkchads get original rides and themes
>>2889559>While other parkchads get original rides and themesThe theme:
>>2889500>I'm not a pokemon fan by any means (the girls are hot tho)>Minecraft movie>word of mouth
>>2889559BTFO>>2889563
>>2889554>he doesnt know
>>2889568I would also point out that pokemon is so popular that it requires its own board on 4chan to prevent pokemon discussion from dominating /v/. Poke-denialists are not living in reality.
>>2889571>it’s so popular it has its own board on 4chanlmaoDo you think this was used in the pitch at universal hq?
>>2889571There's also an origami board. Does that mean there's an overwhelming interest in origami for the general public? Are the gambling-adjacent card-scalpers and primarily online aficionados (Pokémon Go was a decade ago...) the type to plan visits to Universal Orlando if there's a Pokémon land?
I find it funnier some are convinced it’s going to be Zelda themed. Why not just make a Duck Hunt themed area?
>>2889579I find it funny that you think this is acceptable bait.In all seriousness, I wonder how little Mythos would be adjusted/rethemed if it is Zelda.
>>2889563This isn’t 2005 anymore unc, even Six Flags parks are getting far more land theming and animatronics now
>>2889589Bargain bin DC theming barely counts
you're smoking crack if you dont think pokemon is a big enough IP for a theme park. like dark evil retard crack.
I love how Cedar Point coaster stations are just a gazebo
>>2889597Seaworld can do you one better
>>2889499You don't get to be the most profitable franchise on Earth from scalper autism alone.
>>2889606grim.>>2889607so football is popular. if Universal added an NFL-themed land, that automatically would be successful too? or is it far more likely the fandom is satisfied through other consumption that doesn't involve a trip to Florida?
>>2889572>>2889574/vp/ had to be created in response to one game being so popular it shut down discussion of every other game. The origami board is a legacy board that only exists because it's a website for weebs, and it moves at a snail's pace. You guys arent living in reality. Pokemon is iconic and has been for 30 years and is only gaining popularity despite not producing a decent game in over a decade. It's already being built as a land in Japan. It's not something that *might* happen, it is happening. I would advise you two to never attempt to day trade the stock market. Your intuition is awful.>>2889581I dont think Nintendo would be cool with one of their pillar IPs being an asset flip. It's gonna be a full tear down regardless of if its zelda or pokemon. >>2889610An NFL area would probably unironically work. I'm pretty sure there's a pittsburg steeler's coaster somewhere that is pretty popular. People like shit they're already a fan of.
>>2889606Thats not Seaworld, that’s San Antonio. It’s a park that caters exclusively to spics
>>2887766>Enthusiast speculation.Elements aren't private so there's no need for your "speculation" cope. You can look up every element B&M has ever put out right now and notice they have the smallest bag of all major manufacturers.
How come Airtime Thrills gets taken seriously when he's done few, if any, European parks? Everything he speaks about there is from watching youtube videos.
>>2887953I can't imagine spending as much time at WDW as he does as a single guy. I love it but even if I lived there it would be a few times per year kind of thing.
>>2889614>Are the gambling-adjacent card-scalpers and primarily online aficionados the type to plan visits to Universal Orlando if there's a Pokémon land?>or is it far more likely the fandom is satisfied through other consumption that doesn't involve a trip to Florida? These are the questions you seem incapable of adequately answering. And here's the thing: the answers might be "yes!". But the fact that there needs to be questioning means it's not some foregone conclusion like you're assuming. The Universal execs don't make massive multi-year, multi-million dollar decisions on the type of logic "well, it's popular with kids, autists, and gamblers, so it'll print money". Well, given Galaxy's Edge, Disney might...And you can fuck off with that smug "heheh don't day trade on the stock market" dig. You're following the trend. (I can't stress this preface enough, because I know you're going to conflate issues here) *With the stock market* If you're following the trend, you're too late. And you're clearly a midwit given your "NLF area would probably work" nonsense, so you're in no position to evaluate or assess others' intelligence.
>>2889571TFW you realize giving your huge Pokémon card collection from the 90s to your little nephew 10 years ago was a mistake…

>>2889624Thanks man. Feels good to own a house and not be a brócoli head who sucks dicks
>>2889621>He thinks the card scalpers are the entire fanbase and not indicative of the overwhelming popularity of the characters themselvesI can see from the rest of your post that you have serious weapons-grade autism, but it really is as simple as popular IP = big money. Look at FNAF and Stranger Things at HHN. Pokemon is the biggest of all time and it's proven in the data. It's gonna be biblical.>You're following the trend.30 years of sustained relevance isnt a trend you absolute mongloid.
>>2889635>if I strawman and be retarded hard enough, I win!>>2889621>(I can't stress this preface enough, because I know you're going to conflate issues here) *With the stock market* If you're following the trend...>>HURR 30 years of sustained relevance isnt a trendHaha, I knew you were going to do it, and yet it's still satisfying seeing you fall into it
>>2889635>Star Wars is the biggest of all time and it's proven in the data. It's gonna be biblical.
>>2889639Where's the strawman?I said your intuition is dogshit and all you've done is reinforce that argument. You seem to think that my warning about day trading was that you are *shorting* pokemon due to the current hype around cards, but it was really just about you overthinking. >>2889640Retarded argument. Disney fucked it up. They themed it to nu-wars which no one cares about and are now in the process of retconning. It would be like if the Pokemon area came out and all of the mons represented in the land were brand new OC fanfic mons and pikachu was nowhere to be seen.If Disney didnt completely ruin the Star Wars brand and built out realistic depictions of popular star wars locations, yes it would have been massive. They left billions on the table. You guys are trying so hard to play devil's advocate instead of just using your eyes and common sense.
>>2889644And even from the standpoint of "Make an original spaceport since its hard to decide which planet to build out even though Tatooine was the logical option of which planet could be THE Star Wars land", they forgot the part where a spaceport's attractions should actually take you to those familiar places. The Falcon opening with only one scenario taken from fucking Solo was a huge mistake and they really should have relocated Star Tours over there as well.
>>2889644>n-n-no, Star Wars doesn't count! Also, with that reddit spacing you might want to go back. Your midwittery and habit of missing entire premises and nuances is more their speed anyhow lol.
>>2889618Elements aren't defined pieces they click and drop in to a new design like Rollercoaster Tycoon. B&M will design and build whatever a park wants, but again all coaster manufacturers will do that.
>>2889646Yeah you're not wrong. Theme Parks shouldn't be where franchises take creative leaps into unexplored territory. Especially when dealing with existing IP, the feeling should be "you've seen it on film, now here it is in real life. Give us money". Worked for Harry Potter, but even Universal fucked it up with Wizards In Paris. >>2889647You're very committed to being a miserable retarded little fuck, huh. No, Galaxy's Edge does not count. They fumbled it so bad that it does not count as being a Star Wars land. Since we are arguing IP value, and you have the IQ of a sandwich, I'll break it down simple. The Star Wars IP was valued at 4 billion dollars because of Darth Vader, Luke, R2D2, Han Solo, and all of the other characters, vehicle, and locations that fans loved for 35 years before Disney bought it. Disney decided to make a """Star Wars"""" land that doesn't involve any of those things. They took all of the valuable recognizable characters that made George Lucas a billionaire and they threw them into the trash can because of girl power or whatever the fuck. Then they rolled out a very bland sci-fi space port planet area themed to a planet from a novel written by a faggot and loosely tied it into a sequel trilogy that the fans rejected, and you're acting like this is indistinguishable from an actual star wars land. Is that enough nuance for you, you fucking dipshit?
>>2889649
>>2889650I accept your concession. Please try to do better in the future.
>>2889651No.
>>2889649The novels were just marketing for the land, not the other way around. The way I see it, Imagineering doesn't really have an outlet to do original shit of their own anymore so designers feel compelled to leave their own mark on the IPs they have to work with, same reason why they weirdly overemphasized that bird in marketing Runaway Railway or made that stupid Co-Op backstory for Tiana. The fact that making up a bunch of new shit for Star Tours worked so many decades ago gave the team confidence that they could give that a go on a bigger scale and it probably would have worked if they had stuck with the classic time period from the start.
>>2889594I'm interested in the possibility of DC coming to Universal
>>2889654that might be a lot of capeshit for a single resort, anon. and I say that as someone who prefers DC as an IP over Marvel.
>>2889655They have Harry Potter in all three parks, I don't see why we can't have two areas through the resort based on different groups of Superheroes.
>>2889594God damn, Six Flags has a god damn goldmine with being able to use DC characters and they just get this mediocre crap, as a dc fan I;d have to travel to Dubai just to get a decent dc theme park experience
>>2889654We might get an Aquaman themed slide or lazy river at Volcano Bay. MAYBE.
>>2889657That looks pretty good
>>2889658I wish they'd add one more really cool ride to Volcano Bay. The aqua coaster is really fun but that's the only thing there that's a can't skip. I'd just like one more.
>>2889653The difference is it was George Lucas himself "making up new shit" for Star Tours. It was directly from the source and it didn't feel jarringly different as a result. Galaxy's Edge is like Disney skinned Star Wars alive and is standing wearing the bleeding carcass over its body like a suit inviting fans to hug him saying "ItS mE, sTaR WaRs" and people are rightly freaked out by it. You're completely on the money about modern imagineering. It's a bunch of soulless theater kids and woke acolytes that are too narcissistic to put the product before themselves. Just looking at old pictures of the men who designed DisneyLand and comparing it to any video put out by Disney Imagineering betrays the heart of the issue. >>2889654>>2889655At some point a 4th Orlando park becomes the obvious move. Universal is doing that indoor park in india (lol), so if I had to guess that's going to be copied in Orlando. They bought up all that land right before Epic opened for a reason. It gives them a place for Horror Unleashed to go and would allow for DC and Stranger Things to be added without demolishing huge areas in their outdoor parks. >>2889660Is there even an expansion pad at VB?
>>2889656but Harry Potter isn't capeshit. and a Scottish wizarding village + castle, hidden magical London enclave, and 1920s Paris (minus the apparent time travel for The Battle at the Ministry) are different enough settings.unless they go balls out with Gotham City or Atlantis/Themyscira, a generic urban pretense for the Justice League or something won't be distinct enough from Marvel Superhero Island.
>>28896614th Universal park?I'd rather they add more shit to Epic so there's more to do and the crowds are spread out. Disney having 4 parks is underwhelming as an occasional visitor when Animal Kingdom is a half-day and Epcot can be too unless you're in the mood to eat and drink a lot.
>>2888868>Very possible we see Shanghai Park #2 announced, potentially TuesdayLmao
>>2889662I think a more immersive DC universe would be the move. More Harry Potter style. Marvel Superhero Island is cool but it doesn't feel like you're actually in the Marvel Universe. Ironically the Marvel area for the most part feels like higher quality six flags theming. (The Hulk ride is just a regular roller coaster that's painted green)
>>2889667The thing is though is that Islands of Adventure's entire theme is literature, so emphasizing the marvel 90's comic period made alot of sense for the time.
>>2889668Yeah I like the area, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it, and I like all that comic artwork. But if they did DC, they could do it in the modern Universal style, and I don't think it would feel like more of the same.
>>2889667They atleast tried to innovate on the hulk ride by experimenting with VR even if they dropped ithttps://orlandoinformer.com/blog/bloguniversal-orlando-testing-hulk-virtual-reality/
>>2889664They're already adding shit to Epic. Harry Potter and Dark Universe have active expansion permits. Universal has made it very clear they want to develop their own version of the Disney Bubble (incentivizing entire week stays where you are never off property). A 4th gate with Volcano Bay as the off day would allow them to do this and is the obvious next move. Even if the indoor park ended up being a half day park, it still makes sense. It being indoor is massively beneficial for florida. >>2889668>Islands of Adventure's entire theme is literature...I kinda see what you're saying but I've never heard it presented that way. It was originally Universal Cartoon World, so it's probably more comics-based than "literature" Jurassic Park breaks that, but Jurassic Park was supposed to be where MIB is located. I dont think they are married to that idea as evidenced by Kong. Either way, Marvel Super Hero Island is kinda shit outside of the rides, ngl. It's very much a product of its time and should have been the Batman area they originally designed.
>>2889671Michael Crichton books remember?
>>2889672Eeeeeehhhhhh I think that's a stretch. Technically Disney is literature based then also since all the movies are based on public domain books.
>>2889671>They're already adding shit to Epic. Harry Potter and Dark Universe have active expansion permits. Universal has made it very clear they want to develop their own version of the Disney BubbleWhen will these fuckers remove the Fear Factor stadium (fuck HHN) and turn it into a seated Daily Prophet or quidditch area or something? Same with the old BMX spot between Toon Lagoon and Marvel? /ourguy/ Andrew Platt said it recently: the parks need crowd absorption spots where you can just regroup, hydrate, and chill.
Does this look good?
>>2889675wow, what a brilliant suggestion
>>2889675I know we're getting Pokemon but I really love Toon Lagoon and SS Squirtle sounds way less soulful than the rides there now. There's a lot of potential but I hope it doesn't go there. Also King Kong is my mom's favorite ride so she'd be sad.
>>2889675
>>2889675Could be worse.Camera game on a raft ride sure would be a choice.

Don't be a sad little bitch in my theme park general. >>2889675This guy designs parks like Narnia. An entire dark ride and queue in the square footage of a gift shop. Bringing back the Island Hopper Ferry absolutely fucks though. >Replacing Goon with Pokemon Nah. Comcast is not gonna pay to design two entirely separate Pokémon areas. Whatever they are building in japan will merely be duplicated in Orlando either in Springfield or LC. When Pokémon pops the fuck off and opens with 8 hour lines to get in (the day this general will kneel to me), they might at that point look to do an expansion in Goon around 2031.
All the manchildren itt talking about Pokemon and Star Wars... you should hang that stuff up in your teens
>>2889719Oh look we have a senior citizen posting here. Damn grandpa you're so fucking mature and wise. Everyone in this 4chan general for Disney rides admires how sophisticated and refined your taste in themed entertainment is. Tell me about the good old days, pop pop?
>>2889720Anon instead of getting mad maybe take it to heart.
>>2889721I'm not mad. Magic Kingdom but if it was actually good>Adventureland:>Iron Gwazi>Pantherian>Kingda Ka>Tomb Raider: The Ride (Canada's Wonderland version)>Frontierland:>Steel Vengeance>Maverick>Outlaw Run>Gold Striker>Tiana's Bayou Adventure except there's a Tiana animatronic on every log giving riders a lapdance>Fantasyland:>AlpenFury>Leviathan>Legend>Siren's Curse>Tomorrowland:>ArieForce One>Stardust Racers>Time Traveler>OrionThis would be the best park ever and would destroy Magic Kingdom.
>>2889675Outside of the water ride, Toon Lagoon really is just a collection of small restaurants. Almost anything could replace it these days.
>>2889756I think Universal needs more water rides. It's so fucking hot. I want a ride that gets me wet in every park.
>>2889290Went to this because in the area for WC. Big fan of wooden coasters, was pleased/impressed by the Gold Striker. RailBlazer was also an interesting concept/base coaster (first time on a faster single track coaster) but not nearly as kino as Gold Striker. Went on a Wednesday so park was pretty empty, the longest line was for the white water rapids ride (sit on a tube and get splashed). If anyone else is in the area and likes wooden coasters, would recommend a half-day detour.

>>2889823lethal how? gators? other waterparks/resorts in Florida have/had lazy rivers...>Typhoon Lagoon: Castaway Creek>Blizzard Beach: Cross Country Creek>Wet 'n Wild: Lazy River>Volcano Bay: Kopiko Wai Winding River>Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resort: Stormalong Bay>Cabana Bay: Lazy River CourtyardAnd that's not even counting the generic hotels that probably have them too.
>>2889855Those all have more shade (usually in the form of palm trees adjacent to the river).Having been a lifeguard, we were always taught that the lazy river is the most dangerous part of any waterpark you could work at.People used to an ordinary pool can suck at swimming when there's a small, comstant current, they struggle to get out at the various exit points, and (especially when dehydrated) forget that they can stand in the 3-4 foot deep river.
>>2889868so it's lethal because...[checks notes] it lacks more shade in the concept art?
>>2889648Except they don't do that. They only produce an extremely limited number of elements. You thinking they're willing or capable of doing more is just baseless speculation.
>>2888727I'm too /fit/ to ever be fat enough to sit in the back seat, which is apparently the best one since you get plenty of whip. I got the middle seat which was meh.
>>2888966Open can mean either a line so short no wait is posted or they just haven't posted a wait. Considering the regular line is 15 minutes, it's probably no wait for single rider.
>>2889011>>2888965Mario Kart and Mine Cart are in my top 4 for the park. I might like Mine Cart more than Stardust actually, but I only rode it twice compared to like 12 times for Stardust.

>>2889976How do we directly hurt universal then?
>>2889976Is there a map released?
>>2889973Fucking LOL. The same team that did Dreamworks land was clearly in charge of this. This is the result of childless people designing areas for children. It's like they think "Oh well kids are dumb so we can do the bare minimum". It's a real tragedy to deny the children of texas an awesome park to grow up with. I cant see any long term memories being formed on such generic rides. >>2889957They have been assblasted over pokemon for the past year or so. Yeah.... this is your big theming Universalfags?I think I am sticking with Six Flags which has good rides at a good price and also shade
>>2889989Are there any US theme parks with loads of shade? Towering canopies, 50%+ shade coverage, etc.?t. first time visitor to US, willing to detour since it's not everyday I come here
Even the gift shops are soulless. Was the budget $10? Why even bother?
>>2889991Could they not have just made a carbon copy of the one at universals Orlando?
I do think the Puss in Boots area is quite cozyBut this feels like the singular area in the whole park they put at least some effort into not just looking like generic buildings with murals painted on it and cardboard figures planted out front
>>2889993>zero (0) meaningful shadeI look at this photo and imagine my blood boiling beneath my skin underneath the Texan sun. God save the children.
>they didnt even bother to license the Smash Mouth cover of I'm a Believer >>2889992Apparently anything beyond themed wallpaper was pushing the budget to its limit. The room tour of the hotel is even funnier. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vD-yRP5vMMENorwegian prison conditions. No separate area for the kids. Hope you didn't plan on fucking your wife during your vacation to Texas. >at least the view is goo-ACK>>2889993Probably because the Texas sun is puss and boots themed without adding anything. >>2890000Chuck E Cheese mogs Universal Kids. I'll honestly be surprised if it's still operating in 3 years. No one is flying out to do this once they see the videos.
>>2890003My neighborhood kids theme park + zoo (admission price: 18 dollarydoos) has more soul than this.
>>2889990Some of the original Six Flags parks had a lot of shade because they left a lot of old growth trees in the parks along with planting new growth that would pay off in the years ahead. After the Premier buyout the days of good landscaping seemed to go out the window, a tree is just another item with an annual cost attached to it.I'm glad this is starting to finally get pushback. When I went to Cedar Point in August the cattle pens around Raptor were bad and quite a few of their other lines just put you out in the sun with no cover. It's poverty planning. I know these corporate suits and architects aren't the type to love sitting in the sun all day, why do they think everyone else does?
>>2889998>No separate area for the kids. That's how most hotel rooms are. If you want a private bedroom you need to rent a suite
Why make a huge announcement and hype it up and then not give it an actual budget? Why even buy the property in the first place if you're gonna kneecap it instead of using it as a foot in the door to expand into Texas? I'm not saying it had to be Epic Universe level of detail, but it could have been Minions Blast at the least. In fact, Minions Blast was the perfect attraction to put there. How are they even going to frame the shots in the commercials to make it not look like total soulless shit? Just an extreme closeup of kid's faces with nothing else visible in the background?
>>2890009It's a park facing room that is meant to mimic the Grand Helios. Why the fuck is it not a suite?
>>2890011Because it's just a normal room
I think people forget the target age is kids age 3-7 and they don’t give a shit about theming quality just that the see SpongeBob What I think will really bomb is the hotel, this is such a regional tier park so I cannot imagine anyone wanting to spend a night here instead of just driving home. Also no one is flying out for this lol
>>2890014>What I think will really bomb is the hotelSpeaking of that I wonder how those Great Wolf Lodge places stay in business. Staying a night at the place costs a fortune compared to just getting a room nearby and paying for water park admission. I don't know how they're in business desu
>>2890010NIMBYs mandated no dark rides or anything else that might appeal to anyone outside the local market.
why do people pretend to like grizzly?
>>2890014I feel like kids are smart enough to appreciate a well themed area and it's pretty insulting that absolutely nothing about the park is designed to capture their imagination or give them aspirational fantasy. It's like they dont trust children to engage mentally with anything beyond surface level "I know what that character is" and that's a pretty staggering indictment of the future of the country. There's no sense of adventure or wonder it's like flat ride IP slop. >>2890023I thought Texas was like Florida and allowed corporations a large degree of freedom? Wouldn't a dark ride keep the noise to a limit? Why are boomers so fucking retarded? Covid didn't kill enough of them.
>>2889905Wait a minute...That whole thing is plastic! It's just that cup on top that's edible
>>2890023>>2890032It's because locals ergo local politicians are unsure of the park's impact and want to withhold some level of control until the net positives become apparent as well as what problems may have arose after opening. Not that it's likely but hypothetically say it becomes synonymous with fights and disruptive teens and places a strain on the city's police force as well as tarnishing the city's image overall. Obviously politicians will be using all their chips to place pressure upon the park to improve itself, only after that will any ordinance be changed. On the other hand if all goes smoothly, then a level of trust between the park and the city has been built and local rules can be relaxed or rescinded. This happens throughout the country, it's how authorities manage new growth especially when an industry they're unfamiliar with sets up shop. A certain level of trust gets built (or tarnished), effecting outcomes either way.
>>2890045That's dumb. When the guys who helped make Orlando into the tourism powerhouse it is show up at your front door with a bag of cash, you dont restrict their ability to bring wealth to the region and set up shop. Poverty boomer mindset. I cannot wait to see how the UK Nimbys fuck it all up. Florida will forever be the gigachad theme park state cause we let our parks rock out with their cocks out.

>>2890086It's cool how they got the trough set up to swirl down a loop like that. But they added zero theming so it just looks like you're riding down a parking garage ramp
>>2890086>What theme should we implement for our minions area? >It's a beloved children's franchise, so brutalist authoritarian dictatorship concrete of course
>>2890052I dont give a fuck how wealthy the area is, a theme park, especially a universal park relies on out of state visitors. They would have been better off putting it outside of Houston or Austin and making it a travel destination. No one is traveling to this. Why even have a hotel there? >>2890088The swirl is actually extremely common for that type of ride, but usually seen in European regional parks. >>2890073Cause it was made during the Spielberg era at universal where the creatives in charge weren't childless homosexuals devoid of a soul. They understood kids cause they had kids.

>>2889852Our boy has turned into a full blown autistic thoosie. His transformation is almost complete!
>>2890017Indoor water parks are rarely packed. Outdoor water parks are rarely not packed (unless it’s a shitty day and then the park usually closes anyways). GWL have a resort feel, on-site dining, and the Magicquest money grab that kids enjoy. Plus they don’t really cost a fortune most of the time. I’ve seen these types of hotels charge $700 a night at peak which is outrageous but most of the year it’s $300 or less and that’s for a family suite. Even less on weekdays. People who make the argument that it’s outrageous will point to the $700 price but that’s usually on a holiday or a peak season Saturday. Price comparison deception, make the exception sound like the rule. People on the internet do that all the time for clicks which is how you see them make an argument that BGT or SWO cost more than the MK because they pick the highest gate price (which few ever pay), sometimes with quick queue added, and then compare it to the lowest MK daily price. Same deceptive price argument is made to make Disney World look cheaper than Universal.

How did heavily themed play areas for children become a lost technology?
Starting to realize that "Universal Adults" are becoming more of a thing in the theme park community
>>2890189There just isn't an excuse for it. You can do gentle low key rides that won't overload infants that don't feel so lazy and done without lack of care.People compare it to regional parks kid zones but those still put the effort in, even if the money isn't there. They tend to cram in gentle flat rides, playground, simple stage shows etc. whilst also being half the price.
this is the worst take ive seen on the shitty shrek ride kek. shame cos i like the guy
>>2890199This ride could have been an 8/10 if they put that donkey puppet there and had him speak to kids at a certain portion of the ride
>>2890112>I dont give a fuck how wealthy the area isIrrelevantThe people who live there care about their own community's future and being an affluent suburban city they get an enormous degree of power to shape what happens in their community. Apparently the park found the city's conditions agreeable, and it was likely that other cities were pitching themselves to Universal early on.>They would have been better off putting it outside of Houston or AustinIt's outside of Dallas, the 4th largest metro area in the US

I just found out about Europa Park's fine dining experience that is also a trackless dark ride.
>>2890245Some autist was in charge
>>2890245>Shit pardner, another one of the lil tikes fell into the concrete pit of drowning >>2890247Any anon from this general would have done a better job designing this park. This feels outsourced
The more I look at Universal Kids the more I see a base for a good kids park. The ride systems are there (though they need a waterpark if they are in fucking Texas), the food looks spot on, some theming is there (namely Puss as people are saying, some restaurants like Goofy Goobers look neat) but so much of it looks just badThey need to color the place, add some shade, get rid of all that concrete
>>2890250What are you smoking where you see this as a good basis? It's going to damage the Universal brand. Universal of the 90s would have knocked it out of the park on the exact same budget, cause all of those people were true creatives, artists, and visionaries. Those people are all now retired, dead, or DEI replaced with an indian guy that works for half the paycheck. It's evident that whoever designed this park does not have children. It's so easy to entertain kids. Just give them big crazy stuff to crawl around on, the ability to do grown up stuff like drive a car, and toys and games and they're content. Even with the no dark rides stipulation, they could have done way more. It's worse than six flags and six flags has a shoe string budget. Comcast makes billions of dollars. I'm offended on behalf of the children of texas that Universal thinks they are dumb enough to be entertained by this shit.
>>2890261Yeah I agree. This Curious George area looks so much better.
>>2890189>Starting to realize that "Universal Adults" are becoming more of a thing in the theme park communityWe prefer the term "UniversalChads".
>>2889957I don't think anyone is assblasted. I think there's a disagreement with the speed and scope of the likely Pokemon adoption, or at least how much fellating of the IP you should be doing.
>>2890268Of course, we all know brand loyalty is perhaps the most chadlike trait one can have. 100 Goyim points have been awarded to you
>>2889929I'm going to be super autistic about this.If every ride has to be outdoor then they could have atleast kept it in mind when theming the park.Shrek still works (since he lives in a swamp), Jurassic world still works, Minions I guess still works. But spongebob conceptually doesn't work since you can't replicate the underwater vibes (no indoor seaworld tier aquarium?) and it doesn't thematically make any sense with the characters being on the surface (the krusty krab is on the surface world now? All the characters are human sized if not bigger?)
>>2890276>brand loyaltyUniversal's more fun than regional parks, and a less annoying/expensive experience than Disney. If and when this changes, we'll stop going. Simple as.
>>2890121>4.5 hour drive from Miami to Tampa BayNice, thanks. Looking forward to it.
>>2889167This is a pretty boring log flume with an absolutely bonkers over the top batshit finale that makes it worth it.But Jesus I can't imagine waiting more than 20 minutes for this, it was a walk on when I went, though it was a colder day.
>>2888469Do not waste money on an express pass at Epic Universe unless you're going on an absolutely jam packed day. Just single rider Donkey Kong and Ministry. Ministry's queue is very cool but I couldn't stomach spending 2 hours in it.There's not that many rides and a decent number are people eaters so Express Pass really isn't worth it.
>>2890325I actually just don't like getting that wet, although that ride is worth doing at least once. Too bad they won't build something that soaks you like that, JP, or Popeye's in an actual water park where it would be fun.
>>2890325I can't deny the "boring until the finale" accusations really but I do just find the whole thing super charming. I've never seen the show (maybe I should its probably pretty fun) but theres something about the 60-70s cartoon aesthetic that just gets me. I do wish they fixed the exploding shack at the drop. Unless they did during the recent refurb and I haven't seen?
>>2890189This guy probably lives within a couple hours of a regional park that blows this out of the water. Any of the big Cedar Flags parks, Sesame Place&Busch&SeaWorld, Legoland in NY, etc. But oops they don’t have Universal or Disney IPs attached so that’s a hard no…
>>2890308Why can’t zoomers drive? A 4.5 hour drive is nothing. That’s less than an 8 hour shift at work. There are people who live in Atlanta that have annual passes at Disney World and drive the 6.5 hour drive almost monthly.
>>2890250It is much more expensive to improve something after being built than to build it from scratch, doubly so for a park that isn't seasonal. They intend to keep it like this for as long as they can. It's just such a terribly thought out park. I just compare it to other small kids parks that probably spent a lot less and they just look like kids would have much more fun in them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fuofW6vCSysThe only thing that makes sense is that after ordering all the rides and doing the groundwork, they discovered that they'd counted the number of zeros in the budget wrong and had to do everything they possibly could to minimise spending.
>>2890326>Just single rider Donkey KongExpectation management: sometimes the single-ride wait ends up matching the 90-min wait for the normal queue
>>2890355They’re usually drugged in half the time and also they can’t go 4.5 hours without constantly staring at brainrot on their phone
>>2890356Why clearcut and chop down all the trees? They should have left some large mature shade trees to help with the heat and also the theming/ scenery
Another baffling aspect of Universal Kids is the choice of IPs. Do current day 5 year olds even know who Spongebob, Puss, and Shrek are? Those aren't properties that have ever been aimed at children aged 3-8, and they're also over 20 years old with zero current day media focused at that age range. You could argue it's more aimed at the millennial parents of young children similar to how Toon Lagoon was aimed at the Baby Boomer parents of the, then child-age, millennials. The Spongebob restaurant has zero relevance to a 5 year old. They don't know or care what a goofy goober is. They havent seen the movie. It's not what they want to watch. It's only relevant to people like this fucking weirdo. The only two franchises at the park that have actual children's media tied to them are Gabby and Jurassic World. Jurassic World is only popular because children like dinosaurs, but they decided that the Jurassic World area should have no dinosaurs in it, just a callback to Mr DNA that only the parents would recognize. It's just baffling from top to bottom that no one in any boardroom at universal spoke up when this was pitched. It's a disasterclass in executives making creative decisions.
>>2890368Spongebob still runs new episodes and reruns nonstop and with how that show's writing room has been overtaken by millennial fanboys that insist on making Nosferatu a recurring character, there's probably been a fair share of MEMBER GOOFY GOOBERS episodes too. They put the baby ankylosaur Bumpy from the Camp Cretaceous Netflix show at the end of the coaster, but that's not enough dinosaurs for the dinosaur park area.
>>2890368It looked good in the concept art. Concept art also made it look like they had at least one dark ride. I wasn’t expecting Epic Universe quality but it’s really shocking how bad it is. I would not have expected Universal to make a park that’s so low quality that it makes Six Flags Over Texas look like Epic Universe in comparison. And SFOT has two dark rides and better family attractions
>>2890373It's really the difference between Epic Universe as this that makes it so shocking. I wonder if they have a C-team who works on the kids areas specifically.
>>2890374It’s lower in quality than even the shitty newer kids area at USO. They used to make fantastic kids areas. My kids loved the old one at USO. But yeah it’s probably the same team. The budget was rumored to be half a billion (including the hotel) but the Texas government said it was $150 million. That’s the budget of a cheap dark ride at one of their normal parks. Or a fraction of the budget of the bigger rides
>>2890374Meanwhile, this is a ride designed for infants at Disneysea. It has it's flaws (why does it end without seeing more fairies?) but it proves that infant rides don't need to be cardboard cutouts and concrete roadshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1679-NkQYhM
>>2890368>SpongebobThis series never has died, Spongebob just had a film and has two series ongoing, kids almost definitely see this>PussJust had a film that made half a billion at the box office and is probably in rotation in kids homes>ShrekOnly one that is questionable, but there is a Shrek 5 coming out and is probably in preparation for that. Also Spongebob is the only IP they pay for here, everything else they own. That also reduces budget
I gotta admit I think some of you are getting too emotional over a children's water park
>>2890408>Puss>Just had a film that made half a billion at the box office and is probably in rotation in kids homesJust had a film? 2022 was four years ago. There have been two Mario movies since the last Puss movie. It was probably on rotation in kids homes back in 2023. But the character was already long in the tooth even then.
>>2890418Moana was ten years ago and Frozen's last film was 7 years ago yet kids are still obsessed with them
>>2890413Even as a kiddie park, the concept of one of the big two entering the regional parks space was expected to be a huge "bar being raised" event. Like I'm pretty sure the reason we had those big chain mergers was because everybody got scared shitless by the idea of this maybe leading to even more Universal parks around the country. But both the kiddie park and the Vegas scare attraction are such nothingburgers that they wasted a ton of time and money.
>>2890428Moana had a sequel two years ago and Frozen is a timeless franchise with Aryan princesses. Puss is not, he spent half the last movie being a house cat. The only relevant IPs are Jurassic World and Minions. And I don’t think kids give a fuck about SpongeBob, only their millennial parents.
>>2890122It is, Frisco experienced a population explosion from Indians in recent years. That might be why Universal chose Frisco because on paper it sounded like a growing population but in reality it was all a bunch of cheap Indian scammers who probably won’t even go to their park.
>>2890459Sad. Thankfully the tide is turning super rapidly so things will clear out again soon. I’d be shocked if they’re not all back home (or in Canada, lol), before the end of the decade
>>2890413Anon, I just wanted the park to be cool cause kids deserve cool stuff. It's absolute ass to be a kid right now. Imagine being raised by overweight tattoed millennial mother and father who call your family dog a floofer. I'd straight up kill myself. Their life sucks and now one of the few things that used to not suck about being a kid has been made generic and awful. The only reason I am a huge theme park autist is because of the experiences I had at the parks as a child. If I did not experience Jaws at that age and have my face rocked off, I would not be here posting with you guys. It's important.>>2890408Honestly I had no idea they were still making SpongeBob. That's crazy.

Why are Universalfags like this?
>>2890499I thought you were being sarcastic. A 5-hour drive really does sound like torture to many zoomers and non-Americans. But, for example, you wake up at 6am, leave no later than 7am, and you arrive by noon.
>>2890484>>2890490First time I went to SDC was 7 years ago when we got a free stay in Branson. I had no interest in Branson and never heard of SDC and tried to watch YouTube videos on it and there was seriously like only 3 or 4 in HD, all a few years old at the time, and some older SD videos. I thought Branson was cool and SDC was great and I’ve been back there a few times since.. but now YouTube is full of influencers and thoosie videos about SDC. I think it’s better than Dollywood but the cave is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Outlaw Run might be better than chain lift Lightning Rod (nobody ever talks about LR anymore)
>>2890687>(nobody ever talks about LR anymore)I wonder what was so fucked about it they had to abandon the launch. Imo the wooden structure of the launch track was the source of the problems. Once I had to commute 2 hours each way for work; changed jobs out of desperation after 6 months. /blogSince this is /trv/ I will note that certain countries (India, Indonesia, Philippines) have actually limited gasoline consumption due to the Hormuz issue. >>2890686>A 5-hour drive really does sound like torture to many zoomers and non-Americans.I'm a bong and a 5 hour drive on our motorways is a fuckin nightmare. Am I right in thinking if your taking a 5 hour drive from one state to another for like 70% of it your just going to be on a near empty straight flat road? That's how I imagine alot of US road trips go and is the only way I could imagine it not being awful
>>2890805Once you get out of cities, traffic is usually free-running unless it's around a holiday and everyone's going somewhere. Cities are always a problem. If it's not rush hour congestion then there's a wreck or there's construction. Hopefully you've timed it right and it's not rush hour.
>>2890726Not really no They have one insane highlight coaster and one considered very good coaster (some think better than the 600 ft one) but two coasters does not an all time theme park make. It is missing alot of the smaller elements that make them click togetherRelying on the reputation of two rides makes it no different than Six Flags New England
>>2890805Another bong here.Regular US roads around towns are weird. Very easy to drive but insane amounts of stopping and starting because of the US' fear of roundabouts. So much waiting at red lights. Americans are also very slow to move off at red lights so it took a long time to get used to pulling out into intersections whilst the cars around you are stationary. Turn right on red is also amazing (closest the US has to give way lines, something they hate even more than roundabouts).Busy US freeways around cities are bad to drive. Very busy, you have to deal with lorries that have no speed limiters and the design of their road means that every slip road results in the right most lane ending so if you don't change lanes frequently you end up forced off of the freeway. The roads between LA and Anaheim are a special kind of hell. Extremely busy, very narrow lanes but still somehow high speed most of the time. Changing lanes and joining always kinda feel like you need to offer up a prayer before hand (although to US drivers credit, they are far less dickish about letting people pull out than here). On the flip side, the wooded hilly road joining highway 1 was probably the most fun I've ever had driving.Interstates between the population centres are none of this. Extremely long, straight roads through the middle of nowhere where you completely turn your brain off. The drive to Las Vegas from California was ~5 hours but it was a complete breeze.

Allegedly a kid got out the boat at Splash mountain in land on Sunday and went down the slope but it's only been confirmed as an "incident" so far.Wonder if you just hit the bottom without wheels on the track or if the curve is enough for you to safely get to the bottom. Most log flumes have all sorts of cross supports and random beams in between the tracks so feels like even if you didn't splat, you'd stand a high chance of hitting one of those with your legs and snapping them/forcing them through your pelvis.
>>2891067Looking at pictures of that ride it looks like there's a series of cascades for the show water to fall down. Looks like that would hurt pretty bad. On log flumes a popular spot for pumps is beneath the hill and underwater suction hazards can exist. Looks like there's some kind of pump expelling water at the base of the drop on the right. And of course there's the risk of the next boat running you over - log flumes use photo eyes to detect occupancy and a person could easily be in the runout and not trip one... then it would be a matter of an employee seeing you in time to hit e-stop.Check out this retard going across the runout of Jurassic Park to get a hat or something. Instant kill if the boat came down on him. Yeah, it's much bigger and faster than the ride at Disneyland but those fiberglass "logs" would crush you to death pretty handily as well.Nothing probably happened though
>>2891075oops here's the linkhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAqX3a385Qs
>>2891076So many levels of moronic. Immediate red button e-stop to kill the pumps and drain it. Aside from the stupid levels of danger for $15 hat, there's probably 100 or so people on the ride who'll now have a miserable time.Always wonder what the reaction time is for this, I know Disney fill their dark rides with pressure sensors and other security stuff to halt the ride if someone goes for a walkabout, relying on a low paid kid in the ops booth to spot him in the 20 or so seconds before another boat comes down is a big ask.
>>2887002Why are there so many? Disney isn't like, this but Epic Universe is. And you have to pay full ticket to get in. My only thought is that it is employee scammers bringing their whole illegal family to the park.
>>2886860Epic Universe is full on China in its surveillance. Even using full face tech if you want to open a literal locker. If I knew that I wouldn't have saved up so much money and gone. I value privacy. I know they do it because of all the foreign thieves liberals poured in.
>>2891086>all the foreign thieves liberals poured in.Possibly not, given that I've experienced numerous instances of Brazilians being absolutely obnoxious rulebreakers who've encountered no repercussions for their hue-ery.Secondly, it's probably for "convenience" and "progress", like every other company out there, so you don't get stuck in situations like the constantly malfunctioning lockers at Velocicoaster.>>2891085>employee scammers bringing their whole illegal family to the parkNice larp lol. The sad reality is there are (too) many third world visitors, Brazilians in particular, who have enough money to afford park admission, but lack the class you'd expect from someone possessing that amount of discretionary money. As to why they disproportionately visit Universal or Disney, I can't say. But the former is notably less crowded and expensive than the latter, which might factor into their decision.

Looking at a European theme park trip, and I kind of want to squeeze Plopsaland Deutschland in, but they really just have the one main ride people talk about, Expedition GeForce, which does look amazing, but still just one ride. The park is opening a Mack extreme spinner, and then it'll be a must visit, but not until 2028. I don't know if it's worth making time for in 2027.
The opening of Tormenta has been delayed, there is no new opening date.
>>2891134Ultimately you've got to look at a park and think "what do I actually want to ride here?". If you're doing lots of parks, one that you know doesn't have much will seem even worse compared to the best parks on your trip.
>>2891148Gay. I want to do a Texas trip but there's no point if I'll have to return later.

>>2891086>>2891107All Universal parks are doing that now. It's face recognition to get in if you have an annual pass and your position in the park is consistently tracked. It's actually how they keep the petty theft down, or the stupid shit like someone walking around inside a dark ride and fucking things up for everyone else.
>>2891107Things would be very different in Florida if they ever opened a park in Brazil.
>>2891175There's no way to opt out of it? ie, if you just buy a one-time pass and don't use the lockers?I mean I guess it's private property so they can make the rules, but this is an argument for visiting Disney parks I hadn't considered previously.
>>2891177disneyland uses face recognition too btw :)
>>2891176No it wouldn't. See:>>2889444Besides the fact that a Universal or Disney in Brazil would be an unmitigated disaster of a park, the "rich" Brazilians would still come here. Despite being viewed as solidly third world and vaguely brown by European standards, the wealthy Brazilians see themselves as far superior to their darker and poorer countrymen. They would certainly not want to rub shoulders in a local park, and take it as a matter of pride to take costly vacations in the US.

Major stretches can be two lanes which might be a problem if there is truck congestion. For the most part it’s easy but cities can be stressful and unexpected lane closures are a thing.>>2890807Yeah you gotta time it to avoid rush hour in cities but in some cities it’s not so bad. Like all the times I’ve been to Carowinds I couldn’t avoid rush hour in the AM or PM near Charlotte but it wasn’t that bad. Crush's coaster getting a 9 month refurb. That's longer than it takes pretty much any other park to build a spinning wild mouse.Guessing they're going to try to fix the insane downtime and work on speeding up the loading.
>>2891406It's the least they could do. I actually think it's a pretty fun coaster, but god damn it is not worth the wait it gets.

>>2891265....there are 4 ways to spell it and all are both wildly different and correct at the same time. Anyone who did not grow up with that shit has a pretty high chance of getting it wrong.

>>2891485Three likely scenarios>climbing out at the top, wasn't quick enough, foot caught on the boat.>stood up immediately lost his balance and went to steady himself on the side.>climbed out as it was going up the hill, ran to the boat to try and get back in, failed
>>2891478Has anyone noticed that if you rope drop the entire park is almost 100% White (and maybe a few Asians), and that as th day goes on it gets progressively browner? After about 3-4PM, that’s when the real niggers show up, lol
AF1 sisters…
>>2891490Yes. Its a madhouse all day though. The parks have never had many blacks. They don't like Disney because they remember back in the day when no exaggeration Disney was racist. Disney likes some browns because they're party islander types.. Epic Universe was almost completely brown except it was American culture. It was so weird.
>>2891491How did he arrive at that conclusion from a deed being modified?
>>2891492When they act up in the park, that's where modern Disney sources their skeletons.
Last time I went to Dollywood I saw one of the Coaster Studios supporting cast, who goes on trips with those guys and shows up in their videos sometimes. He was working at the park as a mechanic or something on Lightning Rod.
>>2891491I hope not, it really is a fucking amazing ride. But, it's a pretty rinky dink park besides that and it was fucking empty when I went. Great for marathoning the ride, but it didn't look like they were making much money there.

>>2891542Yeah cause it's in Atlanta. If it was in Nashville or somewhere without another park (six fags) it would be much more successful.
>>2891542>>2891551I don't think Six Flags is their competition for most people. I think it really boils down to being located in an undesirable side of the metro area. Few people are going to drive in from Gwinnett, Cobb, or north Fulton because you have to get all the way through Atlanta to get down there, and even once you've done that, the place is far off the interstate. My guess is they were banking on families from Newnan, Peachtree City, and communities along I-75 to drive attendance. That's a shame because in every video I've seen of the place, the employees are nice and it looks well run but I never see many people there. Maybe weekends are where the business is.But I've never visited Fun Spot for the above reason - the only time I drive from the north side of town to the south side is when I'm using the airport. Otherwise traffic is too unpredictable and insane to bother. Even Six Flags isn't easy to get to from the east/northeast sides of the metro area and with the I-20/I-285 interchange near SFOG undergoing a major multi-year rebuild, that park isn't easy to get to either - whether it's worth going to in the first place is also questionable.

>>2891565>>2891606I want to go to this park so bad. Looks to me like it has the same vibe as Dollywood, just with a ton of high quality dark rides.
>>2891564It's only thirty minutes from Six Flags and most people would be willing to drive a little extra to go to a much bigger and more developed park (though you have to deal with an insane amount of blacks). Also, they should have put it in Marietta close to the Braves stadium. There's much more white people there and the Braves draw a ton of tourists/fans from all over the south.
>>2891642>and most people would be willing to drive a little extra to go to a much bigger and more developed parkNot everyone has the same budget or time. You can park at Fun Spot for free, pay per ride, leave, and you won't spend much money. You can be in and out of there in an hour if you just wanted to ride Arie Force a few times. A real park is a larger expense and usually an all-day affair. You can go to places like Fun Spot on a whim, usually a visit to Six Flags requires more planning and spending comparatively more money (for a family, not single autists). They're the same industry but different market segments. If Fun Spot wasn't on the south side I would go there a couple of times a year because it's cheap and easy to do. In their current location I'll never have a reason to be down there. SFOG... haven't been in a long time. The last time I did go it was okay. It's been 20 years since their last big installation. I guarantee you whatever they get next won't be longer than 4,500 feet, won't break 300 feet, and will be well under a minute of ride time. Probably another dive.

>>2891649What kind of ride would Wicked have? I don't think it would just be looking at screens while you're supposed to be riding a broomstick because there's already a ride like that. I could see a trackless dark ride though where you go through different scenes and hear the different songs from the movie. Disney got rid of their Wicked Witch animatronic that was the most advanced one on earth when it debuted, maybe Universal could make another super advanced one. I don't like Wicked very much but I actually do like some of the songs and I can see it being a good ride if they do this.
>>2891666I know, I should have clarified they should have just built something new (even if super cheap) in a place that people will actually go
>>2891667Lost Contenent is pretty big for Universal. They were able to put Nintendo world at Epic with the same amount of space. New land will likely have 2 rides and a show. Especially if they get rid of Mythos. Shit is sad because a Zelda land or Pokémon land would have been amazing with the amount of space they had. Universal if just way more likely to go eith the current money maker they 100% own with legacy support from the Wizard of Oz. It just makes so much sense and it pisses me off.

>>2891703He might kill himself. Or maybe he'll just marathon Twisted Cyclone instead.
>>2891649>>2891667Wicked has already taken over the main street area of Universal. It's more of a collection of museums for costume crap than a theme park attraction of any kind. They have loads of merch too.
>>2891645Fun Spot Orlando makes more sense due to being right there in the middle of a tourist part of town, a couple miles from Universal, and is surrounded in restaurants, arcades, and gift shops. The other one is south of town a couple miles from Disney and attached to a 50s diner themed tourist spot of restaurants and gift shops. The Atlanta one is too far out of town and far off the beaten path. If it was in midtown around world of Coke or something then it might be as successful.
>>2891564I actually lived in Atlanta for two years and never knew that place was there at all until after I moved away.
>>2891703That's 139 hours of ride time alone, not loading, unloading, etc.
>>2891721Is Old Town really still a tourist spot? It’s full of locals, the drinks are the cheapest around, they have official and unofficial car shows with the latter being Latinos showing off their tricked out cars. It’s a bit sketch too.It might fit at Orlando but these recent reports said the Orlando location was struggling too and only the Kissimmee/Old Town location was successful. It’s layout limits where you can put it. Any potential buyer will likely need to have RMC modify it to a different footprint.
If WDW is really locking down resorts from non-guest visitors I think I may cancel my AP. Resort hopping is extremely overrated by disney adults as there is fuck all to do at most of them but I still want to walk around them.I seriously doubt that non-guests are that much of a crowd factor to do all this. All the entitled rich Grand Floridian fags are probably just seething about their lobby and think that this lockdown will solve it.
>>2891724I kind of question the whole of Irlo Bronson being a tourist spot these days. Maybe it was really cool and amazing with lots of nice hotels and restaurants 30-40 years ago. But it's kind of a shithole full of third rate cheap motels, fastfood, and random Mexican places all down the street. It gets pretty ghetto around Medieval Times.
>>2891729Actual paying guests that are spending multiple thousands to stay there with their kids are not wanting to have to put up with the weird Disney Adults roaming around and creeping everyone out, crowding the restaurants, and fucking around the pool areas. If there was ever a spot that is NOT for the weird locals, it's the fucking resorts that people are paying anywhere from $300-900 a night to stay. The Disney adults can stay at their fucking homes.
>>2891733>roaming around and creeping everyone out, crowding the restaurants, and fucking around the pool areas.things that dont happen also, hello retard, people paying to eat at the restaurants are exempt from the lockdown.
>>2891724Not since they surrounded it with flea markets. It was a pretty cool place back in the 90s and early 00s. But they opened up a flea market across the street, and another one next door. Then the whole section of road turned into a third world hellhole that no one wants to go near. It's just Mexicans and barefoot fentanyl addicts roaming up and down the street.
>>2891729>>2891733What are they going to look at anyway? It's a hotel, with maybe a gift shop and a restaurant. You get more of that in the parks and Disney Springs. Why go to a hotel you are not staying in?The people actually paying to stay there barely stick around any longer than they have to, and mostly just use them as places to sleep. Most people never bother with the pool unless it's their last day and their flight is not until that night and it's not enough time to bother with a park.
>>2891736Wilderness Lodge is stunning to the point it mogs a lot of in-park theming. Really any of the lakeside Magic Kingdom resorts are extremely scenic. I park at the ticket center and make the walk around through polynesian/grand floridian rather than take the ferry.
>>2891737If you like it so much, then stay there for a night. If you're not going to do that, then fuck off. It's for the people who pay to stay there.
>>2891738hi chapek
>>2891734>>2891737Yes, and people pay an awful lot of money to keep their kids away and safe from people like you.
>It's about MY rights to stare at people's kids and take pictures of them while they eating for my Disney blog!!!! >They have no right to keep me from creeping everyone out!!!!
>>2891729This has been their policy for years. Sometimes a security guard would let you park but they’re not supposed to unless you’re a guest or have a dining reservation. Now they’re just cutting off the Disney Springs bus loophole and limiting the DS water taxis to only guests of the DS water taxi resorts. They’re not (yet) policing any other entry point like a bus from a park to a resort. I don’t see how it’s viable without creating tremendous bottlenecks at, for example, the resort monorail at the MK which is also unofficially used for capacity (and that new ferry is not a capacity replacement) for the nightmare TTC opening and close humiliation ritual. They would need so much additional staff to police this at every bus loop and every hotel entrance and exit. I don’t see it happening but I really hate that the internet is drawing so much attention to it. Don’t give them any ideas. As for the retards paying $1k a night to stay there, fuck ‘em. They willingly pay that knowing places like the Poly are slammed with non-guests. I don’t really think offsite guests are much of a factor, more like locals and APs. Also if you have a dining reservation they’ll allow you in. They’re not going to make the Poly for Poly guests only, Ohana would go out of business. But careful what the complainers wish for because that’s likely how it would be just like you won’t be able to take a water taxi to Port Orleans just because you’re spending $1k a night at Poly
>>2891712They already habe dreamworks land at universal. All signs point and it's breaking me.
>>2891720That will be easy to retheme to whatever once Wocked Land opens. They had a Monster Cafe at Universal for years and closed it when Epic was announced.
>>2891731>>2891735It’s been pretty sketch since the 90s but the rough part of 192 is mostly past Old Town like where that orange world is on down and Old Town is on the fringe of. There is also quite a bit of undeveloped (and probably undevelopable) Disney property right next to Old Town. I think Old Town is worth a few hours if you can combine with Fun Spot and don’t mind the smell of weed or watching Latinos peacock with LEDs all over their cars blasting music with Spanish words
>>2891743I completely understand not letting non-guests park at hotels. If that wasn't the policy then the Disney springs bus lockdown would be pointless. It's just that if we're using official Disney transportation like buses I don't see why they have to police who is coming and going. As for the logistics you're probably right, it's too much for Disney to bother trying. But you just know they would if they could.
Epic Universe will have nightly fireworks starting July 7th
>>2891729I thought the whole point was preventing people from parking at hotels/Disney Springs for free and then hopping over to the parks.
>>2891743Trying to escape MK at night is a fucking nightmare. There is just no good way to get out back to the parking lot and you are forced to have to cram into the monorail or ferry. The monorail being way worse since there will always be some asshole with a double sized mud tire ultra stroller that cannot possibly fit in the space provided shoving in any damn way.
Arieforce One should relocate to Magic KingdomIt is time to make Magic Kingdom a good park
>>2891751It is. But it is stupid to block Passholders since they park free anyway and they're not the problem. APs shouldn't be parking up at hotels willy nilly but for example are they going to make Boardwalk resort inaccessible to people coming from Epcot?
>>2891749They probably would but they’re too cheap at staffing. When WDW opened though they encouraged visiting the poly and contemporary to eat. So resort hopping was encouraged from the start. But WDW got too popular and the internet and video “influencers” ruined the resorts by spoiling them. Those same influencers will no doubt highlight alternate ways to circumvent restrictions and ruin them too. But once you’re in, you’re in. They’re not going to police that, it’s not viable. The monorail will be long gone before they start checking if you’re a guest before entering the monorail. And all those check points would be awful for the guest experience. I remember as a kid they had a security guard booth on the contemporary to MK walking party and the guard made sure you were staying at the resort. I hated that. Also you were only supposed to use the bus by showing a pass and later a room card but the bus drivers never cared and then the buses were officially open to the public by the end of the 90s anyways.
>>2891757I meant walking pathway not party. And we were staying at the resort I just hated having to prove it to the guard.
>>2891752It’s the worst. I get the original idea but it aged horribly has the resort became popular and expanded. Resort monorail is used as capacity, I cannot see them restricting it for this reason alone
>>2891667Osaka had the right approach with their cheap temporary kiddie Oz land: Give Wicked a stage show, but make the surrounding area into a general Oz land.
>>2891733If Disney Springs had a real Adventurers Club replacement instead of the vaguely Indiana Jones themed bar, you wouldn't have as many people swamping the Poly for Trader Sam's.
>>2891723He’s over 26,000 now.>>2891713He better.>>2891715I just spoke to him. Seemed kind of sad but says he’s fine, enjoyed the rides while they were there. We both agreed Twisted Cyclone is not as good.
>>2891649Oh you saw that video too?I cannot see that land becoming Wicked. That is way too large an acreage for that niche a property only a specific demographic of preteen girls are into. Wicked probably can hold a 2 acre ride but not a full land.I would say Zelda makes the most sense but what holds back on that is Nintendo wants Japan to get Nintendo lands first and there is no announcement for Zelda, while this land is already being demoed for something. So it probably is Pokemon. Even if they need more land later there are areas to expand
I've heard people suggesting maybe they could sell Aireforce One to another park, and some people have thrown out Holiday World. I think it would be a really good fit there if that could be possible.
>>2891776There is not enough Wicked material to make a full section anyway. It's 2 movies and a theater musical. And it's still kind of new, I doubt any franchise that does not have a whole lot to work with would get a whole theme park section.
>>2891777It's possible but I think they'll try to find a buyer for Fun Spot first, because just selling everything is the easiest route. AF1 is a large ride so finding another park that is interested, has the space for it, and is willing to incur the relocation costs will be a tall order. It might not be much cheaper to just buy a new coaster vs. relocating that one.
When I was a kid I was deathly afraid of roller coasters. Now I love roller coasters, but I can't do the fucking teacups.
>>2891833I stopped being able to do spinny rides when I was a teen. It was like a switch flipped, I could get on all that stuff as a kid but once I was 17 I noticed an immediately difference. Even now the swings make me dizzy. I don't think I'm missing much though, all of those rides start to look the same after a while. I'm just thankful that coasters don't bother me at all.
>>2891788Yes anon, a family fun park on the black side of Atlanta that couldn't even draw crowds with the greatest roller coaster in the world is definitely the best use of that property. I'm sure offers are just pouring in from theme park management groups and not data centers.
>>2891842It's not a park, it's an entertainment complex. Of course Six Flags and Herschend aren't interested. It has been in business since the early 90s, so there's no reason to think it's outside of the scope of possibilities that another owner couldn't buy it and try to turn it around. Unfortunately AF1 is in a precarious spot because, truly, it was a bad investment. FS put everything they had into it, and it just didn't bring in the crowds. If the complex does get new owners, it's still possible AF1 could be disassembled or scrapped.
>>2891846That’s true. Every business that was a good idea in the early 90s is still viable today.
>>2891848True. Theme parks are still here and they originated even before that. Lots of businesses from the 90s and before are still around.
>>2891851Every single one of them are still here. None of them have ever closed due to changes in the world.
>>2891854That's untrue. Numerous businesses (even theme parks) have failed and closed.
>>2891846It’s such a bad investment that until this week I did not recognize it as an investment at all. I figured the owner was just loaded and decided he wanted an elite coaster, so he bought one. It never occurred to me the goal was for it to make money because obviously that wasn’t going to happen, particularly with it destroying the minigolf course.
>>2891875>It’s such a bad investment that until this week I did not recognize it as an investment at all. That's crazy
>>2891842........every side of Atlanta is the black side of Atlanta
>>2891784>There is not enough Wicked material to make a full section anyway. It's 2 movies and a theater musical. And it's still kind of new, I doubt any franchise that does not have a whole lot to work with would get a whole theme park section. They can use the public domain Wizard of Oz to bolster it. Universal fulling owning wicked completely down to the stage play. Emerald city section and Witch school section would likely be enough if they got the same people who made Nintendo land working on it. Also the fact the Wizard of Oz is beloved and known by multiple generations it just makes sense to make it Wicked.
>>2891681> Shit is sad because a Zelda land or Pokémon land would have been amazingI hate you with every fiber of my being you fucking Disney Adult. We lost the Lost Continent so faggots like you can pretend to be pokemans
>>2891697Is it worth driving up from Florida to visit before it closes?
>>2891750> fireworks starting July 7thLMAO. What an absolute self own
>>2891936I didn't want them to destroy Lost Continent. Just if they are going to do it, replace it with something cool. It doesnt have to be Pokemon or Nintnedo. Something actually exciting with cool rides. Just the thought of losing Lost Continent for Wicked hurts. If it were up to me I would have refurbished it. I still miss the Sinbad show and the guy who made buckles. Hope the buckle guys are doing alright.
>>2891953It's time to try defying gravity
>>2891964I know just the place
What the fuck?
>>2891883The north is white
>>2891937Most definitely. If this thing closes it’ll be a legend talked about for decades. An elite coaster you could ride for hours without missing a single dispatch. Pair it with a visit to Six Flags.
>>2892023And if you like puppets, go to the puppet museum.
Conventional wisdom says that September would be the best time to go for lower crowds, but I don't know what's going on with the hotels in Phantasialand. I'm not trying to go this September, I'm just trying to plan for a trip maybe a year from now. This is confusing to me. Anybody know what the deal is? Hotel Matamba is exactly the same, and Charles Lindbergh has no availability at all.
>>2892033those are muppets
>>2892039Yes, there's an entire dedicated Jim Henson Wing of the museum.
>>2891966I'd just shoot myself in the ballroom area where Nixon was
>>2891934Nobody likes that and it has been tried a lot over the last 90 years. What everyone likes is the MGM owned properties related to the 1938 movie.
>>2891681Looking at the insane amounts of problems just the Pokemon cards section of a Target creates every single day, a fucking Pokemon Land would be a huge goddamn nightmare for everyone. Pokefags are one of the top most zero awareness mutants in all of fandom that see no issue with hitting and stealing shit from little kids, and trying to make a franchise made for small children all about them and them alone. No one needs the fucking horror of a place that attracts all of them from across the globe into one spot.
>>2892073The Van Gogh Museum clusterfuck taught all subsequent Pokemon museum events to put on strict merch limits and in the Field's case, pull out of that free reciprocal museum admission group in order to manage the chaos. The combined forces of Pokemon scalpers and Park Merch scalpers might actually make Universal actually crack down on the hoarding.
>>2891741>It's about MY rights to stare at people's kids and take pictures of them while they eating for my Disney blog!!!! No one does this
>>2892072Thats because it wasn't done by the Universal creative team and the fact its more Wicked based instead of just standing on the shoulders of an old movie. They are also making more Wicked shitso ots a franchise Universal sees value in. Probably enough to make it an island at IoA.
>>2891975https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-Tlz0lgGvsWhy? Why was this needed?
>>2891934>>2892072Oz is a weird one as a franchise. It's an all-American fiction universe, but nobody reads through it all. I never even had the first book presented to me when I was a kid in any form.
>>2892156I actually like the second book more than the first one
I don't give a shit about the Wizard of OzI don't give a shit about WickedI don't give a shit about Lost Continent
I really want to ride Falcon's Flight, but I really don't want to go to a Muslim country. I hope they don't find my old posts where I've said that Muhammad is being raped by pigs in hell.
>>2892190Muslims only police muslims, you're gonna be fine. It's only the terrorist muslims that try to get everyone else to follow their sandnigger ways; the shekel-grubbing Muslims (which the Saudis are) are happy to sell you alcohol and whores so long as you have cash handy.
>>2892191Kek, I love that they have sections of the beach just for tourists where women are allowed to wear bikinis, while their own women wear garbage bags everywhere.
>>2892193idk how anyone can pretend they have high and mighty sharia law values (or whatever they call their laws) when they paid one billion dollarinos for Christiano Ronaldo to kick a ball in the desert while living in sin with his girlfriend and 5 kids from four different (also unmarried) women.
>>2892155Somebody's fucking job is to think of ways to make the good rides worse.
>Oh Disney is so bad these days>But I won't stop talking about Disney>But I won't stop seeing Disney movies>But I won't stop going to Disney parks>But I won't stop buying Disney merch>Why doesn't someone do something???You have only yourselves to blame
>>2892156The books are mediocre, mostly kept popular from the momentum of the whole>First American mythologything it had back in 1910. They are a weird bag of eternal retcons and half ass ideas. Most attempts to accurately adapt them fail. The MGM 1939 movie however was so fucking huge, it set the standard for kids movies. And the only adaptations that do moderately well are the ones that mostly imitate that like Oz Great and Powerful and Wicked. No one remembers Return to Oz.
>>2892155...why does he just sort of jolt up and turn into a skeleton? A better and more movie accurate effect would have been the moon comes out of the clouds behind him and he fades into a skeleton.
Swing launches are a stupid element
>>2892225Yeah but until LSMs get a lot more powerful that's what we're stuck with
Project Horizon at Alton Towers is unofficially scrapped/replaced with SW9. Wonder if it was low visitor numbers or being greater crested newted. Was allegedly going to be themed around a Black Hole. Was going to be an indoor Intamin family multi-launch straddle coaster with heavy theming and it ending with you travelling through the black hole. Was going to have a story along the lines of Hex with secret experiments on a magical artifact in an underground lab based on local legends. Was going to be part of a new themed land involving the Dungeons and the Towers themselves. Probably would have also included the David Walliams land when the licence for that ran out (although there's still 0 chance in hell that's getting renewed).
>>2892190I don’t trust the quality control and safety there. It blows my mind when I watch YouTubers go to China and shit and ride rollercoasters there. Like, who in the right mind would ride a rollercoaster in a third world country. They don’t have the same standards and regulations there that we do, if they have them at all. I’ve seen the live leaks, lol
Theme parks are officially dying offProve him wrong.
>>2892261>Wild Waves>Fun Spot>significant
>>2892270>Seattle market's main theme park>Park with a consensus top 10 worldwide coaster>Not significant
>>2892276Never heard of it
>>2892277Just bc you’re gay doesn’t mean everyone else is, anon
>>2892279I think it's just not a significant park
>>2892277Yeah if you are not too familiar with regionals and only heard of Disney, Universal, and Six Flags (As a singular park) you might not be aware
>>2892283Just never heard of it. Probably really small
>>2892261>1% vacation destination>>implying the 1% go to Disney regularly, even VIP experiences
>>2892291If you can afford to go to a US Disney park you are part of the 1% worldwide (annual income of approximately $34,000 USD)
>>2892295I think this calculation is skewed by the fact that there are only US parks in Florida and California. Meaning: the individual 1-day tickets aren't the issue, rather the travel and accommodations are cost-prohibitive. Because I've definitely seen locals on both coasts who are low-income but still managed to afford it. (And that's not even getting into all the other dumb shit that poorer people buy).
>>2892220That's exactly what Disneyland Paris does. Simpler effect but much more 'solid' feeling
ive just spent 2 days in europa park ama
>>2892337Shrubbery status?
>>2892338idk what you mean, it was hot af and voltron was amazing I rode it 7 times total also back left and back right multiple timesonly problem was the heat was really distracting it was like having a hair dryer blow in your face it kinda distracted from the experience but other than that it was perfect
It was a master piece in every possible way, except the fucking bounce track was turned off for some reason on both days
>>2892339Europe is miserable at the moment. Mid 30s everywhere. My roof heats up during the day so even when it gets colder in the evening, it's pumping heat back into my bedroom.>>2892340HOW COULD YOU NOT TELL US SOONER ABOUT THIS TREE?!?
>>2888189Europa Park is not underwhelming it is one of the best theme parks in the world if not the bestIt is basically Efteling on steroids. Make sure you spend at least 2 days because you are gonna need itPhantasia Land I don't know I haven't been there before but it's gonna be my next one>>2892341I was just providing evidence that I was there (of course I could have stolen that picture from someone else and you guys will never find out).Yeah it's scorching hot
>>2892261It’s like the Fall of Rome. Everyone projects their own personally beliefs onto why it happen. In reality FSA is just in a shitty location and looks ghetto.
>>2892261I assure you that the industry is not dying because a family fun center that no one ever went to closed.
>>2892256I don't trust Chinese theme parks either, or India, but I think those Saudis are pretty serious about tourism and I think they want to make sure all the paying customers are safe and having a good experience.
>>2892344>>2892346I haven't been there but I heard American theme parks aren't really theme parks but more like attraction parks. It's basically just roller coasters in a big parking lot. Take example of European THEME parks like Efteling and Europa Park. There you actually feel like your stepping foot into a different world where time does not exist just because of how good everything is done. Just everything the decoration, atmosphere, ride dispatch times, fuck I even saw an employee walk around picking up fucking leaves with one of those trash grabbers I shit you not, fucking leaves from a tree, that's how tidy the level of quality is there.
>>2892337Based. I hope to go next year. How were the dark rides?
>>2892348>It's basically just roller coasters in a big parking lot. There's some truth to this, but it's never been more true than with Fun Spot Atlanta.
>>2892341> Mid 30s everywhere. How TF is it that cold in the middle of summer? It must be some sort of record. That’s crazy. We haven’t had 30 degrees for months and I live in Chicago
>>2892346>>2892344There's a big problem that not everyone is able to solve in that big rides alone are struggling to attract enough visitors to pay for themselves. You need the big themed experience with the cool merchandise and novelty food you can't get anywhere else that gets stuck on social media.
>>2892349Except for the temperature inside they were fucking amazing. I loved the Euro Can Can (Moulin Rouge) French coaster a lot, the theme music was just great. Also loved Euro Mirr, it's going away next year so i'm glad I experienced it once. But it was a rough ride. Arthur was exceptional and innovative. Pirates of Batavia as also very nice. I skipped the Italian ghost ride though forgot about it it was also at the beginning of the park so I kinda forgot about it
>>2892353Well that's cool. My mom can't do most coasters but I'm planning a trip to Europe and she enjoys dark rides.
>>2892356Why not? Just put her on Voltron she wont regret it
>>2892352Exactly. You need the full package. Yes a nice record breaking roller coaster is amazing, but if it's just planted in a big parking lot why the fuck would you go there. You need an experience that's fun for young guests as well as old guests. You need high level of quality, good food, entertainment, theming and then you need a good coaster. Here in Europe theme parks are doing greatHonestly Europa Park had so many great food, the restaurants were better than most restaurants you find in any regular town or city. And also many kinds of beer from the tap from real glass, everything was just amazing i'm so sad i'm gone :(
>>2892359I wish every park in America had a couple of great dark rides. Besides Disney and Universal, they're not a focus for smaller parks. Six Flags Over Georgia has an amazing dark ride called Monster Mansion, and it stands out because the other parks in the chain don't have anything like it. I love coasters, but every park should have a couple dark rides.
>>2892360Yes theme parks are about that magical feeling. That journey. Losing track of time and knowing where you are but just stay in the moment. That's what makes a good theme park.I would honestly have a mediocre ride with amazing theming than an amazing roller coaster with mediocre themingWaiting in line for Voltron 7 times wasn't so bad (waited 15 minutes but sometimes also 40 minutes), because even the fucking queue was amazing.
>>2892362I've seen videos of the queue online. It looks awesome. That's one thing Universal does well, put so much detail into the queues that even if you have to wait a long time, it doesn't feel so bad.
>>2892364The operations and dispatch times are no fucking joke at Europa park. The line is literally constantly moving. Multiple trains. They even have conveyor belt stations for Arthur and Voltron. They fill up empty seats fast with the single rider line. Some rides you dont even get to choose your seat it's just a constantly moving queue. If you dont hurry up the staff will yell at you in German which is also amazing I experienced it once when I thought they said I had to wait at row 5 but he meant 4.
>>2892359>but if it's just planted in a big parking lot why the fuck would you go thereI can think of one actual parking lot coaster in the US. As usual thoosies are being histrionic and disingenuous
>>2892367I mean basically anything in Cedar Point and I saw some other Sixflags shit online where the coasters are amazing but the area is just a big fucking parking lot Yeah the universal ones are great they do have some great ones I also saw but most of it seems pretty stale the theming or atmosphereI mean i've never set foot in America though so everything I know is coming from youtube and shit so hopefully i'n wrong but when I compare something lik Efteling, Phantasialand or Europa Park to the average USA theme park it's a lot different. USA has bigger coasters but the package is just meh
>>2892261Yeah, it's another one of those fun luxury things people cannot afford when their grocery bill is twice what it was a year ago.
>>2892368>but the area is just a big fucking parking lotYou can just say flat land, i.e. something that's extremely normal to build on
>>2892368Sometimes those pure coaster parks can still have a nice atmosphere. Not theming so much, but being surrounded by all the rides is kind of its own theme in a way. But atmosphere really does mean a lot. Between Carowinds or Six Flags Over Georgia, I'd rather spend a day at Six Flags usually, even though Carowinds best coasters are better than Six Flags' best coasters, because that park has more trees and just looks prettier.
>>2892370What i mean is it is missing that magic>>2892371I agree, Cedar Point with it's coaster line up probably wont need much theming. But some other parks i've seen look fucking grim, I think one with a red superman coaster for example
>>2892373Kek, there's multiple parks in America with red Superman coasters. One of them closed last year, I bet that's the one you're thinking of. Six Flags America.
>>2892348>It's basically just roller coasters in a big parking lot. That is exactly what Fun Spot is. In fact America actually does have traveling carnivals that are exactly that. A series of rides that move around from state to state and setting up in an old Mall parking lot for about a month or so then move on. Fun Spot actually looks exactly like those, but never leaves after a few weeks. It sticks around. All the rides look exactly like the traveling carnival rides. And most of them really are just a big empty lot with a few rides...and that's it. There is no theming, there is barely any decoration. Most 6 Flags fall into that same area. Hardly any decoration at all. Just a bunch of rides in a big open field.>>2892352Yeah if it is just rides then you get bored real fast. It's 40ish minutes standing around in line then 40-80 seconds of moving fast then it's over. A park needs more than that. It needs things to see and do outside of standing in line for a 40 second thrill ride.People like the parades and firework shows the big parks have. They like going to a place modeled after a scene from a movie. >>2892360For some reason everyone has been making fun of Disney for having rides that consist of riding a boat through a cartoon for decades. Everyone else acted like a dark ride was a childish embarrassment. so most parks never bother with them.
>>2892373>>2892375this one I meanokay all the coasters by itself are the theming, but other than that it looks like absolute shit
>>2892377Yeah that's pretty ugly
>>2892378Yeah the coasters are impressive, but I would be too distracted by the fucking empty parking lots and lines. There is no magic or theming. The 2 minutes you spend on the ride are nice, the other 58 minutes every hour are dogshit
>>2892370Unfortunately there are no shortages of coasters built on literaly car parks
>>2892369Yep. People are tightening up because they have to.Pic rel is from BGT. Parking is $42.00 btw, plus $5 if you want to ride the skybuckets (but they're free if you have a season pass!)
>>2892380Yeah I will never understand this shit. At least fucking put it on grass or some shit with some bushes, rocks and trees.Imagine not having a fucking budget for literal fucking flat grassCould have at least themed it like a lost or destroyed post apocalyptic city or some shitAmerican theme parks are retarded
>>2892359I never understood the whole food argument. Seems like a chick/ gay thing. Why would I want to fill up on junk food and ice cream right before I go do multiple rides on rollercoasters with 7+ inversions. Makes no fucking sense.
>>2892362>that magical feeling>>2892373>that magic>>2892379>no magicI'm glad I can just go to Six Flags and have a good time instead of being a faggot simpering about muh magic
>>2892381Everytime I go to Busch Gardens I just get the meal deal for $40 and can eat every 90 minutes if I want to and one MD is more than enough food for me my wife and our kids. You’d be retarded not to. Also hit the BBQ place early before it gets too crowded
>>2892384Your stomach is weak af. Also the whole point of good food is that it's not junk food. Sure you can get fries and hamburger, but they actually really have great fucking food there at Europa Park. Straight up restaurant quality. It's nice that just everything is nice. >>2892385Theme parks and roller coasters are about magic whether you like it or not. Sure the thrill itself is nice. But if it's just a thrill ride you might as well fucking go sky diving or some shit. You want to be immersed and have a great fucking overall experience, it's more than just the coasters, it's the whole day
>>2892386You can really taste the arm hair in the coleslaw
>>2892381Also drinks are free if you bring a souvenir cup. I don’t think I’ve paid for a drink at BG or SW in like 5 years
>>2892387>magicmuh magic muh magic muh magic>But if it's just a thrill ride you might as well fucking go sky diving or some shit. Why would I go skydiving if I want to get on thrill rides?
>>2892388Checked for extra protein
>>2892391okay anon we get it, you dont give a fuck about anything other than the ride itself Most people care about the theme part when it comes to theme parks
When you've got to do daily updates on a building site that literally has nothing on it and there's nothing but ground prep work happening
>>2892395I know which parks have good and bad theming, if they have bad theming I just adjust my expectations and still have a good time. I don't care about the Disney marketing term called "magic."
>>2892397Meanwhile Vekoma is building potentially the best dark ride ever at Seaworld and you barely hear a peep
>>2892399>the Disney marketing term called "magic."Fine, i'll use the word atmosphere from now on. Is that okay with you or does this also trigger your autism?
>>2892400Sea World have kinda earnt the lack of hype over their dark rides. They fucked up a flying theatre, one of the hardest things to actually fuck up
>>2892400Why only 3 people instead of 4? Very inconvenient for groups
>>2892403Vekoma doesn’t fuck up, but yeah you’re right about their flying theatre. It’s a shame too bc they spent a TON of money sending actual film crews to the North Pole to film it in person. Supposedly they fixed it and relaunched it though but I haven’t been there to check it out yet
>>2892405You don’t bring your wife’s boyfriend with you the the parks?

>>2892428Based
>>2892437It’s hard to take it cereal when you have highly themed dive coasters like the legendary Sheikra. You’d think everything after it would get better, not worse
>>2892441What's more themed about it?
>>2892443Pretty much just the scenery. Tormenta is in a poor people park though so it’s not a fair comparison. Efteling has a nicely themed dive as well but it’s not for poor people.
>>2892445>Pretty much just the scenery. How do you know?
>>2892447I’ve been there. There’s also a surface level animal theme but Tormenta has that too.

>>2892452I’ve watched the official POV. It’s very ugly.https://youtu.be/gPpAJFWvqdM?is=SKi8HwpusPRi1rZr
>>2892455So you don't actually know what Tormenta's scenery will be like
>>2892457So I do you mean. Unless you think your speculation is better than the people actually making it.
>>2892459That's a computer rendering that was likely produced months ago. We don't know what the completed landscaping will look like as that is one of the last tasks that gets completed before opening. Until then, every comparison you've made is just speculation.
>>2892470This is a tough one. Six Flags Over Texas says you’ll be staring at a giant parking lot most of the time while on Tormenta. An anonymous poster on a Chinese cartoon forum says that Six Flags Over Texas is wrong. Hm… it’s close but I’m going to have to go with what the park says rather than your baseless speculation. Sorry anon.
