This thread is getting buried at an incredible rate.
>>2894767very nice during winter, snow monkey park was fun and the trail leading up to it has great scenery. a lot of gaijin visit for skiing though not sure about this time of year
>solo traveler>book Airbnb>it has ten beds, half of them doublesis this place meant for orgies or something, I was drunk and didn't really look at the pics at least there's a switch
I want to go to Japan, but the only things I want to do are go to theme parks and go see a couple pro wrestling shows. Might be my first solo trip when I've saved enough money.
Is it really a waste to go to Japan for 3 weeks and stay in tokyo only? Expect leaving for one day to see Mount Fuji?I'm going mostly to explore Akihabara
>>2894873>is 3 weeks tokyo a wasteNaa nigga, tear it up and plan 1-3 days so you can see fuji when the clouds clear
>>2894873Tokyo is pretty big. I think you could probably accomplish whatever you need to in 2 weeks. But maybe having a 3rd for Fuji stuff is smart. If you decide to branch out for some reason; Yokohama, Nagano, or Shizuoka and other places aren't far to go to by train.
>>2894880>>2894883Thanks for the reply. How would you spend 3 weeks in Japan while making sure to enjoying Akihabar to the fullest?
>>2894889Depends, what makes you most interested in Akihabara?
>>2894890Anime & Manga stuff, old electronics (Also electronic in general) and local culture
>>2894891As someone interested in Akihabara it is great for all that, you could also check out Denden Town in Osaka though. For anime/manga merch (Figures and such) there was so much more obscure figures at better prices than you'd find in Akihabara.
>>2894893I mean he could travel to Osaka, but I'm not thinking he will miss out on much by sticking to Tokyo. Saying this as the resident Osaka guy on here.
>>2894889>making sure to enjoying Akihabar to the fullest?Akihabara sucks now, there isn't much enjoyment to get from it. Don't read that as full doompilling, it's just that niche merch simply barely exists in Aki anymore because most of it is either relocated to a shops online storefront or gets sold through Mercari/Yahoo Auction whenever the seller would get more than they would selling to a second hand store. All the billboards are plastered with Chinese gacha ads and all the large stores are full of shonenshit figures marked up for tourists. Even if I go look for something that's more halfway niche (read: less western appeal) like Idolm@ster merch, the fucking shelf is 80% gakum@s because that's the newest shitty gacha they put out and there's next to nothing of the original 765 cast.Nakano was far better in that regard but you can tell that Nakano as an otaku spot is dying with how many closed storefronts there are.Like sure go ahead and visit aki, but you won't need more than at most two days, probably just one, to feel like you've gotten a grip of what it's like now.
>>2894895This, plus it's got 3 foreigners for every one Japanese person. Whatever soul that town had died at least 10 years ago.
My gf wants to go to Azabujuban to see the sailor moon manholes (she is a huge fan of the series). Anything to do around there or is it a pretty normal/uninteresting neighborhood?
>>2894901>manholes>manholes, JAPANSo is her pussy just that good or are you just ugly and unable to get more than the dumbest boring retardwoman in your area when you hooked up with her
>>2894903All women are boring and I agree, it's pretty stupid but it's kind of cute so idc. The neighborhood doesn't require a huge detour from the regular stuff we're doing either.
>>2894895Im glad i dont understand what you are saying
Any fun/underrated day trips from Tokyo other than Mt Fuji and Kamakura? I might have to cut Mt. Fuji cause visibility may be an issue so I'm wondering what other day trips I can do.
>>2894906You didnt tell us if her pussi is good or not though.Hows the Summer heat?? Should I fly over in August and head north??
>>2894916I'm still in my home country. My flight isn't until August so I can let you know then.
>>2894911Apart from the common, googlable recommendations...>Mitakesan (Mount Mitake)Nice hike and scenery >YokosukaSee the Mikasa, famous pre-dreadnaught battleship of history. Overrated:>kawaguchikoUnless you like chinese tourist hell, I'd skip.Honestly of all the day trips I've done from Tokyo, I don't think I'd do any again besides maybe Kamakura and Mitake. Other things relatively nearby are better for a couple days at least like anything near Fuji or further north from Tokyo. But technically, anywhere in Japan is a possible day trip if you consider domestic flights. You can fly to Fukuoka in less than two hours.
>>2894919>august japanWhats your plans??Im trying to map out some exotic onsens and nature spots in the alps and Hokkaido. Seems like renting a car or riding a bicycle and camping would be the ideal. I just need to plan and balls up, inspire me guys,, or ill go to EU for summer and save JP for winter
>>2894873I've done 5 trips to Japan, one of which was nearly 3 weeks purely in Tokyo and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It wasn't my first trip though and I'd recommend at least checking out one other different area for your first time
>>2894923How about you just avoid Japan altogether
>>2894923It's my first time so I am doing the most generic things you'd do along the golden road, minus Osaka. I won't have anything to inspire you anon. I guess something "unique" I have planned is the Kibune-Kurama hike just north of Kyoto. It's a pretty accessible route between two small villages. You go through some lush woods that lead to a temple about halfway. One of the villages also has a nice onsen.
>>2894922I'll probably do Kamakura then. Thanks anon.
>>2894927>avoid JapanOkay I will do that....PSYCHE!!! >>2894929Nice man, enjoy it. I will look into the details etc
>>2894916Even though it's hot, it's only around 30°C. For someone who's experienced temperatures over 40°C in Europe, this is nothing.
>>2894901Looks pretty normal to me. I see it's not far from Roppongi, which is a gaijin containment zone and Meguro which was kind of a cool place to live when I lived in Tokyo several years ago.
>>2894911Leave your large luggage with Kuroneko or Sagawa and go on a light-packing overnight trip to Northern Kanto, the Boso Peninsula, or Izu. You can also have your luggage delivered to your hotel on a specific date.
>>2894903I've got dozens of Osaka manhole photos. They're awesome. Post a pic of a manhole from your cuntry or stfu.
>>2894901There is a restaurant district featuring a variety of cuisines
>literal cumsocks
>>2894929>Kibune-Kuramayup, it's a nice walk
Jesus tickets to get to Japan are like 50% higher than they were last year. I still bought the tickets but this is gay. I really prefer ANA if possible but they priced me out. Had to go with lame Singapore Airlines.
>>2894982isn't Singapore Airlines rated even higher than ANA?Anyway I even flew with goddamn Air China and it was perfectly fine, only the website kinda sucked, I don't get why people care about using a specific airline so much
https://discord.gg/ebNJNnXpCAttempt to make a comfy /jpg/ trv server for meeting up or missing JapanPic related, making an offering to local kamisama
>>2894983Japanese airlines are mostly Japanese people. Other airlines to Japan are largely white people and inferior Asian races.
>>2894991good point, I didn't consider the other passengers (luckily I've never had an issue in that regard for now)
>>2894873>>2894873If its your first time you shouldn't run out of things to do and see, that being said; is this a once in a lifetime thing and you're never planning on visiting again? 3 weeks is a bit much in one spot, you dont need that much time for akihabara. Id suggest maybe spending a week somewhere else; osaka/kyoto area, maybe hokkaido. Also id suggest against staying in aki. I did it on my first trip, i wouldn't say i regret it, i had a great fucking time, but i wouldn't do it again. Trains dont run 24/7 and akihabara is pretty dead at night. If you're planning on checking out akihabara every day, stay in ueno; walking distance from akihabara, skyliner straight to the airport, ameyoko has tons of late night dining and entertainmentLike if i was you; id do a week in tokyo, recover from jetlag and get your bearings, a week somewhere else (you could even do 2-3 places for 2-3days each) using domestic flights and bullet trains, then a final week in tokyo to do all your heavy duty weeb shopping
>>2894983>I don't get why people care about using a specific airline so muchSome are just better in overall quality. Also the airports they fly from matter. As does the airline alliance.
>>2894983Miles n shiet probablyI always take the same jal flight to narita from my airport because it's... direct and first thing in the morningIve tried in the past to do miles shit with alaska airlines (bc they have some alliance or whatever with jal) when i did domestic us flights but honestly i always felt like it was a hassle and i stopped because fuck flying at awkward times or having layovers when theres a direct flight i can catch after work or first thing in the morning etc...
>>2895015JAL > ANA, at least flying from America. ANA partners with United so you could end up on one of their shitty planes. JAL teams up with American Airlines which is better IMO.
>>2894983Sinkie Air is topshelfEven their LCC offshoot is the best on Earth
>>2894983>I don't get why people care about using a specific airline so muchUnder 3 hours sure. After that I really start to give a shit and that's most of my flights
>>2894987Discord is fake, lame and a fucking Mossad honeypot, use something open source or fuck off.https://www.reddit.com/r/discordapp/comments/1u86kjl/why_on_gods_green_earth_is_my_pc_routing_through/
>>2895022Yeah idk about specifics, theres a regular direct route between my major metro airport, its what i took the first time i go to japan, and what ive taken on every subsequent tripFunny really how that works out, always narita, never been to haneda, if i wanted to go to haneda id need a connecting flight; i mainly fly aa delta united for domestic, but frankly idk if id even be ok with the added hassle of flying domestic and having to retrieve and recheck bags or whatever to fly into haneda even if it was much cheaper due to miles or whatever
>>2895024maybe I'm easy to please but as long as I've got decent leg room and ok meals I don't care much about anything else even on 10+ hours long flight (admittedly I've always been lucky and never needed to interact with customer support)That said my next long flight will be with EVA Air, which is allegedly pretty good
>>2895027Flying in Japan is the superior way to get to the distant corners of the country and Haneda is generally where you go to fly to them. There's no reason to even check bags. A small carryon should be sufficient since you can do laundry.
>>2895046Eh, naritas been good enough as a domestic hub for me with domestic flights within japan; i was always able to find flights to my desired locations (or back to narita) at reasonable times (minimizing waiting around, check out, train to the airport, fly, train to the hotel, check in) because while i know theres coin lockers everywhere i really like to get my stuff to hotel asap rather than standing around with itYeah for all domestics i do backpack only, leave my big roller bag in tokyo (since im always arriving and departing the country via narita)I was talking about check in for the international; and the only way for me to get to haneda would require a connecting flight with a domestic carrier, and with how consistently LATE american air travel is then you always want a much longer layover for the sake of safety and not missing your flight
Anons I'm planning a 3 week long Asia trip. I'm definitely going to Japan but can't decide on other countries to go to. Should I do Korea, China, or Taiwan? Or are there any other good recommendations.
>>2895050Honestly, it depends on what you want out of the trip. South Korea unless your a KPOP, K-Drama, or really appreciate some other aspect of the culture is not a great vacation destination IMO.I had a lot of fun living there, it has a decent nightlife with lots of drinking soju and eating Korean BBQ pork belly. But there's probably more temples and cultural sites in China and Japan to see. I'd say go to China, specifically Hong Kong if you want to leave Japan.
>>2895050Have you considered best korea?
How do I get autistic Japanese GF while visiting?
>>2895072Nigger are you literally 19? We are WAY past this even being a valid question. Jap girls are reskinned white girls atp. Why even bother? You could have a miserable marriage at home in a culture you understand with more money and the rights of an actual citizen, or you could be in a miserable marriage in a country where you aren't that great at the language, you don't understand the subtle ways that your wife is expressing her hate for you and the cops can detain you indefinitely because you're a white piggu. Just go to japan bang soapland girls and eat ramen. Or maybe just be gay.
>>2895074I was just memeing. I'm literally socially retarded (never even hugged a girl) and the last time I visited I saw lots of very cute looking girls. Idk what they are in person, but I imagine they wouldn't want to talk with me either way.
>>2895074this is a dekinai app nigger crying because he cant farm gaijin hunters anymore
>>2895072vrchat then meet irl on your trip
>>2895084>VRChatAll the japs hide in dekinai-filtering worlds that pretty much border on geolocked unless you brute force it with a screen reader or are beyond n1 level fluent depending on how butthurt the map maker was when making the questions Unless you know some secret source. The events and such that are easier to join (such as DJ events) are very anti-dating/intimacy from what friends have told me anyway there's like some strong lines in the sand between how different subsections of the JP vrc community act.
>>2895090The worldwide vr community is probably 80% men and 18% trans anyway
>>2895093And that's a good thing, fuck w*men
>>2895093Asian VR has a lot more women but they're also more normoid coded (like swapping LINE contacts with their real name attached) as per my friend's testimonial That or they will make you sit through a 2.5 hour lecture on all the dragon quest monsters because she's autistic and you foolishly thought that you could get some action if you tanked it
