I am former UKSF and went into early retirement at 37 after several wear and tear injuries to my knees, shoulder, back and neck from 17 years total in the forces. I had saved my entire career and bought a house so things are not so bad. However i never went to school and was in foster care and juvenile as a kid so no education thus no real career prospects post service. Ive had offers for private sector but it always involved some form of physical capacity readiness being required. I got a job offer 5 days ago, from the Mexican Government, through a private contractor which is basically acting as a joint sector paramilitary and essentially acts as a training force for mex army and private outfit armsec work and a taskforce for smash and grab in juarez and Tijuana. The job requires no field work and is simply to organize and structure and train new members of said task force, standardizing the mex army and contractor enlisted in basic tactics and operational procedure. Offer is I start 6 months away as of tomorrow, pay is £116k a year, with paid quarters, food and supplementary spending money and a car. I have to be at C1 level in spanish and there is a test. How would you learn if you can't travel to mexico beforehand? I am contractually obligated to a security firm right now and it does not end until 4 months away so I have to be in Northern Ireland for it, its only an advisory position but I am contractually obligated to be on site twice a week.I have nothing to do all day apart from two days a week I go on site for 4 hours each day. I am willing to do whatever it takes to learn spanish. The contract is for 2 years at 116k a year, plus 100k upon the completion of my contract, plus residency in Mexico and a government subsidized option on a mortgage for a house in mexico city. Basically life changing stuff. Also plays well for American work along the border in the future think corporate security. Any travelers got good language tips, I have bad ADHD
>>2901871There are other Spanish speaking countries than Mexico. Local colleges should have Spanish classes. Auditing is cheap. There are a host of gamified and non gamified apps. You can pirate Rosetta Stone or whatever the cool kids use nowadays.

I have bought various workbooks off amazon and I have put together an anki deck for vocab and grammar and a stand alone deck for numbers as thats gonna be important for regular daily memorization. The uni thing is a bad hard as all the options in belfast you can't either join midway or they are demanding a minimum of GCSE or equivelents which i do not have. So look to be a no go. I will likely have to do this on my own. I have a wife who is at a low conversational level in spanish who is also helping me every day with an hour or two of conversation and explanations. Any other home learning things you would reccomend I buy?
