>What is this thread? Why are there two generals?
/rcg/ was initially created as a way for the roller coaster enthusiasts on here to discuss all things roller coasters and theme parks. While roller coasters are the main focus of these threads (and the title of the general) there is also discussion on other theme parks, their rides, as well as the parks themselves and trip planning too. That's where /tpg/ comes in.
>Can I talk about Disney/Universal parks in this thread?
Absolutely! Disney/Universal discussion of all sorts including rides/resorts/dining/trip planning is OK.

General Rules:
1. Talk about Theme Parks and/or Rollercoasters.
2. There is no second rule.

Lion King boat ride apparently uses a propulsion system instead of currents to move the boats. My guess would be LIMs of some kind as localised water jets powerful enough to move the boats would result in a current anyway (Universal patented a rudder style system that controls speed in a current). The test track had some suspicious stuff in it that could be LIMs

Aside from fixing log jams with should mean that it can slow/stop the boats for story scenes and time them so they get to a scene at the start of a loop. Wonder if it could also mean you get multiple boats in a scene to make them longer without killing capacity.

If it’s once in a lifetime definitely get it. No need to ride “everything” though. They only has 5 exceptional rides that you can’t find elsewhere - Steel Vengeance, Siren’s Curse, Millennium Force, Top Thrill 2 and Maverick. The rest consist of not very interesting family coasters, boiler plate B&Ms, and two full size arrows (Magnum sucks but some people love it, plus it’s historically significant as the first hyper). The train also has some nice scenes going from north to the south. I’d focus on these unless you’re collecting credits or something.

It really doesn’t. Everyone who “takes” the bait is a ritualposter. The ritualposters’ bait is what actually works, since it’s irresistible to tell them why the original poster is not required to find updates for any non-Disney/Universal park.

How TF did I automatically know you were talking about coasterstudios. They’ve been around forever. He also likes to watch his wife fuck other dudes while he puts together model rollercoasters. I know this bc I’ve worked at a dip n dots stand for many years

Almost none of the original post is bait. It’s genuinely useful information. I wasn’t here but I imagine that originally, it didn’t end with “did I miss anything?” (this is the bait) He added that to play along with the ritualposters.

It is with great displeasure I report to you that the chicken tendies at the Cabana Bay hotel, that were great two years ago and two years before that, are now completely different, and among the worst tendies I've ever had. They were soft and seemed like something you'd make in an oven and never buy again. The fries are also worse now, but still good because it's hard to mess up fries. They messed up the tendies though.
>>

They said there would also be physical sets, but I'll give you that the picture alone doesnt show that off very well.

anyone else riden Hyperia at Thorpe Park recently? the 2 year old coaster is pretty much unrideable on most rows. That Mack rattle is beyond an inconvenience now. Best first drop in the world not joking, the rest of the ride is short and feels like being in a washing machine

What happens to these women after 35 when they “start” to get too old to be at theme parks all day without kids?
>>
>>2904479
I think you meant to write 25 there.
If they're rich, they marry someone in their social circle who will give them 2.5 kids and multiple full-time nannies at a 1:1 ratio, thus allowing them to bring the children to the theme park, actually enjoy the theme park with their own children, and continue their one true love of getting likes and upvotes on social media.

Katie’s wholesomeness is real, not a shtick. She is a true homeschooled evangelical Christian girl.
>>
>>2904495
I don't wanna get into purity spirals on a roller coaster thread but my homeschooling parents would be incredibly ashamed if any of their daughters turned out like Katie. Social media is a sin, to say nothing of wearing short shorts. Actual homeschooled evangelical girls end up either as stay-at-home daughters or young wives/mothers. There is no place for an influencer in the traditional scheme, least of all a social media influencer.

True, but they built stardust as a replacement for Dueling Dragons. If they didn’t get rid of DD there would be no stardust. Then going up the lift hill as you watched the other train next to you and then all the close call moments. I’m not a big universal fan but that was one helluva ride. Stargay doesn’t even come close

So Paris has started a program up "updating and modernising but keeping the spirit of the classic". First completed one will be the Rivers of the Far West.

From what I understand major DLP news has to be announced in France first so it's possible the Star Wars miniland announcement could still happen. Wonder what other rides they'll re-do.

It’s what they tell themselves because it’s more palatable than the truth, which is “Dueling Dragons and Kumba were outdated garbage and that’s why their parks replaced them with something new.”
>>
>>2904836
That sounds hopeful. They can be hit-or-miss, their updates to Phantom Manor were honestly pretty good all around, and they were based for bringing back the Vincent Price dialogue. But then Avengers Campus is trash, although that could be blamed on the concept entirely, not necessarily their execution. I haven't been back since the name change to Disney Adventure World so I haven't seen the new intro area and Adventure Way/Frozen, but from what I can tell they look pretty good. As long as they nail Space Mountain, we're in good hands. I believe Michel Den Dulk is a pretty good imagineer, so let's see what he cooks up.

I live near the central Florida area so
I’ve been exposed to many great coasters that are rated as the best (Velocicoaster, Areofocre One, Iron Gwazi, Stardust Racers). I want to take a coaster trip to the north and asking is it even worth it with the exposure I’m use to or will I be disappointed? What is prob the best trip to take with only a weeks plan trip? (Flying there and back with about 5 days in between).
>>
>>2905153
1. Fly to Chicago and hit up 6 flags Great America and Cedar Point
2. Fly to Newport News and hit up Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Kings Dominion
>>
>>2905153
The non-negotiable is obviously Cedar Point. At least two days there. While you’re in Ohio you might as well throw in Kings Island, which offers several good wooden coasters that CP (and Florida) just can’t match.

You might have another day left, so you have a few options. Holiday World has arguably the best collection of woodies in the world, including what is often considered the greatest one. It’s a charming park, but it only has four adult coasters. I would go to Kennywood though, which has the unique Phantom’s Revenge and Steel Curtain, plus some very old but very good woodies.

I don’t think you’d be disappointed with this trip, but keep in mind you already live in the best region in the world for coasters.

>Works started at Epic Universe on new attraction in Darkmoor
fantastic news!
If its the rumoured Black Lagoon ride Id say 2 years before it opens minimum but at least it'll be another high capacity ride and less intense than Frankenstein

this said - EU needs more attractions to cope with capacity now, not 2 years away. HP new ride hasnt even started. Nintendo land is constantly overrun even on quiet days. This is why were not getting the park added to annual pass anytime soon - maybe Celestial Park only to boost footfall for the restaurants
>>
>>2905299
A high capacity slow omni-mover for Celestial park would be a huge boost. A ride that anyone can do, an escape to the air conditioning and it'll soak up crowds. A secret life of pets was good and the Ceslestial park theming gives them a wide range of things they could do. They could even make an attempt for a park mascot.

On an extremely loosely related note, the full plans for the lake at Universal UK have been made public and the layout matches the concept art almost exactly. Probably means the Minions land is nailed on and most of the lands in the concept art will happen in one form or the other (the BTTF coaster featured heavily in the planning permission so that seems nailed on too)
>>
>>2905323
Project Universal did an overlay.

Seems the Jurassic Park or Wicked coaster is nailed on too. Still interested in that one. The layout is weird so I'm still betting on it being some sort of unusual car. I suspect a riding coaster, would be cool if it was that speeder bike suspended riding coaster (broom stick coaster if they do go with wicked?)

The complaining about Animal kingdom's expansion not including new animal exhibits is stupid. Besides, Disney uses "think of the animalz" as the excuse for every shitty thing about that park.
I can't really think of anything regarding live animals that AK does better than a typical zoo. There is a ton of zoo park competition in Florida alone and Disney's version doesn't excel in anything other than good rides and theming, aka typical theme park stuff.
Ironically, I believe that The Seas pavilion at Epcot is more of a world class animal exhibit than anything at AK. If I had to choose between keeping The Seas versus keeping every animal exhibit at Animal kingdom I'd 100% choose The Seas. And Seas is not in the best shape these days.
Maybe it's partly my aquarium bias speaking but I genuinely wouldn't care if live animals kept slowly getting phased out of AK and over time it was just animal themed.
I understand that this is an adult's opinion and little kids will always love to see hippos and shit but there are better and cheaper parks in Florida for that.

The big exhibits (the Safari and the two trails in Asia/Africa) are extremely good, the trails especially are much better than the Bronx Zoo equivalents.
The minor exhibits in Oasis and Discovery Island are fine but are typical of "good zoo". Which is what anything in TA would have ended up as due to space and backstage access.

But the Safari is the heart of that park in the same way Great Movie Ride was the heart of DHS and if they get rid of it the park will suffer the same

Just came back from my first visit to Cedar Point (4 days), here are my random stream of thoughts. (Six flags over texas is my home park btw)

Park doesn't feel as big as it is, they did a great job at spacing out the attractions so there is always a "must do thing" around every corner.

As a Six Flags native, I have a bone to pick with Cedar Creek mine ride. SFOT has the world's first Arrow mine train coaster and Mine Ride at CP was their second one. so why is this one WORSE that the six flags mine train? at SFOT you go through a forest, underground, the chain lifts are themed to mineshaft elevators, you roll through a saloon, you go over and under the steam train tracks, and you drop into a tunnel that goes underwater. The CP Mine Ride is taller and smoother than the SFOT one but it does NOTHING ELSE. IT IS IN A GRASS FIELD LOL.
>be Mine Ride
>have no mines in the ride

Blue streak isn't that rough, if you think it is you should try out Judge Roy Scream lol
Raptor is one of the inverted B&M coasters made, feels the same as Silver Bullet at knotts, almost thought they were clones.
GateKeeper is only cool if you get front row, otherwise it just ok.
WindSeeker is the best ride in the boardwalk. Probably rode it 5 times just for the views.

(this is a reddit space)

Figured Valraven would be a joke since I have Tormenta at home but I did like the floater airtime moments, the slow barrel roll was cool. Tormenta doesn't do that, it's just positive Gs over and over again. I was surprised to see the differences in the ride vehicle even though both are 8 wide. Tormenta's load platform only has a drop-out floor in the front row and Valraven has foot rests in the back rows for some reason? what?

Siren's curse felt like a universal ride that got stuck here somehow. the tilt gimmick is neat but you acclimate to it quickly on re-rides. I was surprised that the seats had high-quality speakers in them.
Corkscrew is not compatible for tall people, I am 3 inches shorter now.

Iron dragon was way faster than I thought it would be.
Rougarou, more like rougharou haha, this is where the B&M rattle memes come from.

I didn't know Millennium Force had no mid-course brake runs. that thing is just sheer speed non-stop, it shares A LOT with the first half of Tormenta. Imagine if Millennium force went straight down and upside down, you have now ridden the first half of Tormenta, you're welcome.

SkyHawk is my favorite flat ride of the park. I had no idea it made those haunting steam engine sounds, I loved standing next to it.
Maverick is so painful that I don't get the hype. why are the ride seats punching my rectum, is this a ride for gay people?
Magnum XL is way less painful than I thought it was going to be, how are people getting bodily pain when walking off of this thing? huh?
Gemini gets my Marge Simpson Potato Award "I just think they're neat." It does nothing exceptionally well, but I just like it a lot for no reason in particular. I think about this ride the most when I came back home, maybe it's the shit-talking across trains.
Steel Vengeance is the most painful ride in the park. RIP my thighs when I get off what the fuck was that. Boy RMC has come a long way since New Texas Giant, NTG has more comfortable seats though.

Top Thrill 2 is the best ride in the park even though it is a gimmick ride, the sustained sense of speed is indescribable, it is like you are swimming in water.

My main complaint for the park is the lack of animatronic-laden dark rides. Knott's has Calico Mine Ride and Timber Mountain Log ride, why nothing like this at Cedar Point? I liked the spookers on CP's train but that's not enough. I want more. (how often do they need to refill the blanks on those guns? that effect was cool)

oh, and to the racist trolls here, I vastly prefer the brown amigos in SFOT over the tattooed white freaks at CP good lord Ohio is a magnet for retarded tattoo ideas.

Thank you for reading my blog post. 4chan, your personal blog.

>SFOT has the world's first Arrow mine train coaster and Mine Ride at CP was their second one.
Dahlonega at SFOG was their second, CCMR came after that. Haven't been on the one in TX but it's a bucket list ride for me. I think it's cool that it's mostly the same including using those old skid brakes. DMT's skid brakes were removed eons ago during a rebuild. I like the saloon scene finale and how it goes over then under the railroad. Like the Dahlonega Mine Train, SFOT's opened with 5 trains although I believe they only ran 4 max at once (and that would be with a large dock crew to get trains out on time), one train was kept as a spare. Now I imagine that like DMT, it can run 3 trains max (which is still fine even for busy days). Anyway, it looks like a hidden gem coaster.

But frankly Cedar Point's mine ride isn't very good. Probably the worst of the original Arrow mine trains I've been on, although it does look pretty and fits in with the frontier theme. Plus you need rides that kids and older people are fine with getting on, it and Iron Dragon fit a need at CP really well imo.

>WindSeeker is the best ride in the boardwalk.
Hardly anyone ever talks about these Mondial rides. Apparently it was problem after problem with them while Six Flags went with the Funtime version and they never had the teething issues. Never been on either though

>>2905485
>Gemini
>It does nothing exceptionally well, but I just like it a lot for no reason in particular.
I like this one too for no particular reason. The ride is fun, some people say it's too rough but they're wrong, it's fine. I like the slow turnarounds where you can high-five each other. I think it looks good. And it's a bit of an oddball since Arrow just used its existing ride track and train system and made it bigger but kept the wood structure. I hope Gemini sticks around even though it's probably a short timer. Again, good one for kids working their way up to the top tier coasters.
>>
>>2905484
>Siren's curse felt like a universal ride that got stuck here somehow.
I still don't think it should have gone to CP. If they didn't have Valravn, sure, it would be fine. But it seems like the park could have had that space for something better in the future and another park could have had a desperately needed stand-out ride. I think it was just a panic move to get SOMETHING in the park ASAFP in case TT2 was a total failure.

>>2905485
>Rougarou
This one needs to go. They tried the floorless conversion to lengthen its lifespan. It didn't work and it's a completely forgettable ride. They should remove it before Gemini or CCMR. Instead it'll be there for another decade just being the "Oh yeah... that ride" ride

>My main complaint for the park is the lack of animatronic-laden dark rides.
Well they did have Disaster Transport a long time ago, although even in its prime it was hokey and it was still just an indoor roller coaster rather than a pure dark ride. Imo they could use a nicely themed log flume (like the one at Knott's) or some other kind of themed water ride, especially after Snake River Falls' removal.

>>
>>2905558
No, I really think they want to turn it into a black park. Disney used to be legit ridiculously racist so now they're going in the Netflix direction to make up for it.
>>
>>2905558
Disney wanted the parks to be a happy, safe place for families. Not homosexual adults. The reason its fun for adults is because he wanted *parents* to enjoy their time there too. He wanted teens too. Thats why he barred alcohol. He wanted to show families they could have imaginative, clean fun.

Basically it was like walking into 1950s Americana. Wholesome and clean.

I personally think he opened the doors to it being called faggotland instead of Disneyland. Hiring a Jewish man to do wholesome family Americana Frontier was a mistake. >>
>>2905573
I agree about the French. The snobbyness has cost them more than once. And for what? Paris is overrun by losers from loser nations. Not entirely sure they've got enough space for a big water ride though. It STILL feels like they're just throwing around concept art without any concrete plans.

The rollercoaster model for example has dead end tracks and a huge overbanked top hat that Disney would never put in a family coaster. If the coaster was possible we'd have a no limits recreation by now (the BTTF coaster got one within a couple of days).

Rainforest Cafe is great. I love those tacky overthemed restaurants. It's just a shame most of the Florida ones died in the recession (RIP Racerock) and the survivors gradually got overclassed by "premium" fast food places and didn't make enough of an effort to make them novel. Plus they latched onto the gastropub trend and shrunk portion sized down by doing shit like putting 10 fries in a tiny basket. Hard Rock cafe is coasting on its nostalgia and locations hard.

Sadly zoomers and browns don’t like themed restaurants so they’re going the way of the dodo. Just go to downtown Chicago and you’ll see the rotting husks of a rainforest cafe and a Hard Rock Cafe that have both set empty now for years. The hard rock has black supremacist feminist murals on it now and the rainforest is home to a number of infamous crackheads. Across the street, the world’s ugliest McDonald’s is going strong. At any one point you will see dozens of homeless niggers walking around it like zombies, and a line of poojeet door dashers waiting outside for their orders

Chinamen are obsessed with telling everyone that US malls and Rainforest Cafe are failing. I have no idea why.
>>
>>2904468
Actually don't trust men who are unmarried over 25. They've either slept around or are very into themselves and expect Scarlett Johannesburg as a wife ...and when they swindle one into marrying them, they're still not happy. Plus the older you are the less likely to have energy for children. I wish white men in particular would prioritize finding a white wife and making white babies. The only culture that makes things better for humanity, less brutal, less suffering is white.

Curious if you think it's hereditable? I'm somewhere on the spectrum but my 3yo daughter seems to have more of it than me. Theme parks are overstimulating and the one time we convinced her to go to a neighborhood kiddy park, she insisted on going on the same ride the whole time we were there.
>>
>>2905702
That's perfectly ordinary 2-5 yo behavior.
Took my 2yo boy to a local park and he wanted to ride the kiddie coaster repeatedly, I think we went 16 times or so.
It's literally 'mastering a skill', the skill being predicting what will happen the next time he goes around.
Same reason ipad kids with parents who don't actually care end up watching a single Disney+ movie on repeat. They slowly learn how it works, that it's the same sequence of events every time.
And after the first such instance (be it a ride or movie) is mastered, the next one won't take as many repeats, and so on, until she can handle going on a ride once in a visit and have a great time.
Same goes for short golden books, etc.
>>
>>2905703
Hm... well, we're not planning on getting her hooked on meds or therapy, but she is very different from her 5yo older brother. He is more like what you described, enjoys watching the same movies, also wants to ride kiddie coasters, etc., on repeat. But he's not going to regress into a sobbing ball of misery at, for example, Chuck-e-cheese, even if the animatronics freak him out. She probably is perfectly ordinary though, like my wife and I are perfectly ordinary. Just a bit on the spectrum.
t. childhood weekends consisted of watching Toy Story on repeat (must have watched it easily a thousand times)

This is largely because of the regions the respective parks are located in. For theming in the US your main options are Southern California and Orlando, while regional parks are usually located in the outer areas of cities, many of which are in redder regions as well
I think this is also why you see Dollywood and SDC being talked about more as they're the closest thing to the big theme parks in right wing areas.

But if the state made it so only those were available to be chosen, that would be eugenics and is rightly frowned upon.

>China has no official public records of a fatal accident occurring on a traditional tracked roller coaster in earlier decades (such as the 1990s or 2000s). Why would they keep them? Just more crap taking up space in a warehouse with no clear future use. That loses money for no real gain. They stripped anything they could reuse out of them and junked the rest.

You sound like a small, bitter, little man. Disney fags may be Disney fags but that doesn’t mean they’re evil. They’re just misguided. They need hope, as do most of us. They use Disney as a security blanket and that’s what makes current Disney actually evil bc it’s destroying that blanket for them. Disney, in its essence, should be eternally pure, eternally clean, eternally fun. Nu/dis is ruining that, and those sad retards still grasp on for hope…

>more rumours Universal GB will have Hogwarts/Forbidden Journey and Hogsmeade, instead of LOTR
three thoughts from this
1. Was hoping it'd be LOTR. Shame.
2. rumour is very likely true because it was announced there is a Lego Harry Potter theme park being made in Denmark of all places. Surely Britain is a more suitable place unless another company controls the rights to HP in Britain
3. that its ANOTHER clone of Hogwarts/FJ and Hogsmeade leads me to think the Lost Continent new attractions will be HP related, not a new land. The "satellite" parks (Hollywood/Beijing/Japan/UK) get the clone rides but theyre an taste and make you want to visit the headquarters park in Orlando for more HP with many more unique rides
>>
>>2906335
A LOTR land would have made it a must visit park worldwide, another HP clone with nothing unique is disappointing.
>>
>>2906351
agreed. On the other hand having a Universal park in Britain without one of the most recognised British IPs in literature, which the parks are very famous for, is bonkers.
Maybe one day both will there. WB owns the movie rights for both and one exists in Universal parks so not impossible.
>>
>>2906358
They chose HP bc it’s a safe choice and they know it will sell. You will never see a LOTR theme park, sadly. Too violent, and too White

If any place outside of Japan was ever gonna get an anime/manga-based theme park, it was gonna be France.

TIL in Florida you could use aid money to buy admission to theme parks.
>Florida is being praised nationwide for becoming the FIRST STATE to add massive restrictions on taxpayer TANF and EBT welfare being used on luxury and non-essential goods and services

Holy fucking shit. Poor people are genuine fucking scumbags. Wish they'd pull the plug on EBT all together and let them all starve.
>>
>>2906447
Vast majority of people on gibs probably didn't know it was possible to pay for those things. I blame the politicians and lobbyists for these ridiculous loopholes. Pretty sure it was reported soda companies profits tanked when soda was no longer EBT-eligible in certain states.
>>
>>2906447
Yeah why was this ever allowed
>>
>>2906446
I only see one in 2026. My guess is the guy had brain issues before which were compounded by the ride.
Don't theme parks effectively make you sign an indemnity waiver in the act of purchasing admission? Don't think there have been any successful lawsuits in the US where a theme park got cleaned out because of an injury/death.
>>
>>2906448
>Pretty sure it was reported soda companies profits tanked when soda was no longer EBT-eligible in certain states.
Correct, but also, the artificial demand for these products raises their prices too. So you actually get screwed twice. Your money is stolen from you and given to low IQ parasites, and then those parasites make your groceries more expensive. Imagine how much better the world would be if the bottom 1% was simply left behind.

>>
>>2906456
The Theme Park Worldwide guy and his wife just went to Europa-Park, and they have their baby so they didn't ride at the same time, they took turns, and Shawn said that he got the best ride he had ever had on Voltron, and his wife said it was awful and gave her a headache. So there's a rattle, but not everyone experiences it. Shawn's theory in that video is that it may be row dependent.

It sounds like some kind of preexisting condition. Two in a week is really odd, though, bordering on unbelievable. Hope the investigation is thorough and fair for all parties, maybe some freak incident did occur.

>>2906452
>Don't theme parks effectively make you sign an indemnity waiver in the act of purchasing admission?
Kind of but it has its limits. I wouldn't call it an indemnity waiver, it's more like agreeing to the park's terms and conditions. Of course those vary by park, it's up to the user to read and know them. This practice isn't uncommon, you sign a contract of carriage when you buy a plane ticket, for example, that grants you certain rights and limits certain damages. Same thing going into most theme parks.
>>
>>2906492
It doesn’t, it just poor people hate. Which is total valid but no need to make shit up to do that, there are plenty of legit reasons.

People on food stamps don't view the food stamps as part of the overall pool of money they have access to, but as extra money. They buy more food than they otherwise would if they were paying with cash. And when demand is driven up through these artificial means, the prices follow.
>>
>>2906504
How much extra food is bought?
>>
>>2906504
I agree with this statement but don't think it's a problem. Better to have too much than too little. I live in a place with a fair amount of big agriculture and at farmer's markets, you'll see people selling produce for pennies on the dollar. Ask them why and they say the government technically bought all of it so it's not available for the open market. Talking about 4 avocados for a dollar type of bargains. This is how famines are prevented.
Likewise, I'd rather we have too many theme parks to choose from than too little. :^)

UAE may be a more chill place to visit but in terms of where they land on the murdering people scale, they are spending a lot of money supporting the RSF who are doing really evil things in the Sudanese Civil War.

The basics:
Sudanese Armed Forces vs Rapid Support Forces
A majority Arab country with a black minority. RSF wants to kill or expel all the blacks and take over the country.

Saudi Arabia is supporting the Sudanese Armed Forces who are fighting the genocidal RSF.

Thoosies are bootlickers for theme park corporations. That's why I want a fair and honest investigation. But many cases of injuries and deaths on theme parks rides are due to either negligence on the part of the rider or an undiagnosed existing conditions, and there's not much that can be done about the latter. Obviously I'm open to the possibility the ride itself may have some problem, unlikely as it may seem.

If Walt the GOAT came back to life for a day, what parks stuff would you want him to see and what do you think he'd feel about it?
At the risk of pissing him off over the name I think a day at Epcot would be nice because of Spaceship Earth and American Adventure. Stuff that seems would be up his alley.
If I wanted to go more for showing him advancements in technology and themed entertainment, possibly Tokyo Disneysea.
If it could only be one ride, I think Rise of the Resistance still has the edge after all these years and I'm trying to factor out my Disney bias. Monsters unchained at Universal is great but doesn't have the "wow" or "how did they do that?" moments.

what sort of braindead fag must you be. Even the most disney cock gargling slave would say Rise of the Resistance is not as good as Monsters Unchained.

You're just being facetious. Rise is way more technically impressive. Monsters is good and in some respects better themed but it's "simply" a bunch of animatronics and screens. In this hypothetical visit, Walt would be more impressed with the robot arm ride system. He would know how the rest of the ride works.

Rise employs a bunch of stage tricks that catch you off guard the first time and has like 4 preshows that make the ride feel longer than it is.

>spider man better than anything Disney has done since
ok so you were just trolling me
>>
>>2907059
NTA but that’s just it - Rise only catches you off guard the first time you ride it. It’s a novelty ride. Its animatronics are inferior to those of Monsters’ (the arm waving intensifies).

Rise has the bones to be truly great but was ruined by the sequel trilogy and Chapek's budget cuts. There's already rumors of a full retheme (probably won't happen for at least 7-8 years though) in early development to make it set in the original trilogy. I don't think it would be that hard to make it the best dark ride in the world but that would require Disney not being retarded.

>>
>>2907193
Not him but I think that's the issue with the ride. It's hard to put into words why it's less than the sum of its parts.

Thinking about it I think I know why it isn't quite as satisfying as it should be: It feels like a walkthrough attraction where you're on a mobility scooter. You're not whizzing through a base at high speed trying to escape, You're slowly quickly walking through a base, occasionally stopping in rooms. There's no interesting use of the cars (especially given I've never ridden it when the guns were working or even the AT-AT cannon). Compare that to Mickey's Railroad where it uses the ride system as it should be used.

Even Ratatoille does it better, even if the ride asks too much (the ride would be so much better with motion bases)
>>
>>2907200
>You're not whizzing through a base at high speed trying to escape, You're slowly quickly walking through a base, occasionally stopping in rooms
Isn't that better? If you didn't stop you wouldn't get to appreciate the scenes.
>There's no interesting use of the cars (especially given I've never ridden it when the guns were working or even the AT-AT cannon). Compare that to Mickey's Railroad where it uses the ride system as it should be used.
Remind me of the difference? I do remember the waterfall part being really cool.
>>
>>2907202
>Isn't that better? If you didn't stop you wouldn't get to appreciate the scenes.

It's a bit of a paradox but Spider-man does show you can get the balance between rushing to escape and taking in scenes right (and Transformers gets it wrong, rushing about not taking anything in). RotR is cool, but not exciting (you only get the blood pumping slightly in the escape pod).

I'll also say that god fucking damn mobility scooters kill the atmosphere.

>Remind me of the difference? I do remember the waterfall part being really cool.

Off the top of my head, things Mickey's Railword does that's neat:

>Illusion of it being on rails at the start behind goofy's locomotive
>the dance room rehersals
>being on the conveyor belt in the factory
>meeting up again with goofy

The scenes are also packed with details so the cars being free roaming lets you notice new things each time and boosts re-rideability.

Anybody else ever get sick after riding Valraven? I ride every other coaster on the entire park and even LOVED Nlue Streak even though it makes you feel like you’re gonna fuckin die (it was awesome), but somehow after Valeaven I felt nauseous and got a headache and had to go lie down for a few hours before I could ride again…
>>
>>2907365
i can see it yeah. i usually skip the ride when i go to cedar point but it definitely is getting a bit rough with age and the b&m dives aren't my favorite model anyways. my home park has iron menace and that ride is outright terrible.
>>
>>2907372
The theming and chicken sandwiches are awesome though.
>FASTER… FASTER… FASTER…
>>
>>2907372
It sucks that Dorney Park finally got a big new investment, and it ended up being super rough.
>>
>>2907378
It does suck but I’d say they deserve it for having no ambition. In a coaster world where Intamin, RMC, Mack and Vekoma were doing incredible things, they bought a dive coaster. They made their bed. Let them lie in it.
>>
>>2907385
Yeah but most people aren't super into roller coasters like we are. Most people who see a dive coaster probably don't know that there's a ton of them. If you go to Dorney Park just because it's the closest park to you, you'd probably have been very happy with just a typical dive coaster.
>>
>>2907385
The park doesn't usually get the final say in what they get, some executive does. A park's GM can lobby for or against certain rides and use their pull to get what they want, but ultimately it's out of their hands when it comes to capital spending.
>>
>>2907372
Tbf im not knocking it completely. It was the middle of the day and I was probably dehydrated, but I had gone from ride to ride before that no issues what so ever, but as soon as we hit the final breaks on Valraven I knew I was done. I was also last seat on left on back row if that makes any difference. After my little lie down we went back and I rode I think 9x coasters in a row no issues. Idk, I just don’t want to be too hard on that ride, bc it was a lot of fun

>>
>>2907395
Honestly, I think it was an absolutely stunning coaster. The way it lines up with the main path, its layout, and esp its color scheme was amazing. When I rode it I had to crouch down to fit in the seats bc I’m really tall, but even with that, I felt great and happy otherwise. My back hurt a little bc I was too big for the seats, but other than that, would def recommend. Not everybody is a stretch, lol
>>
>>2907377
never had the chicken sandwich (usually i just eat at sheetz or something instead), but i can concur, the theming was really great and i think the ride is an overall net positive for the park.

>>2907392
yeaaaa that'll definitely do it. hydration is so important at parks, esp in the summer. i had a very similar reaction after doing medusa at gadv and the diet coke i had after was truly legendary,
>>
>>2907388
Most people see a dive coaster and pass on it. Sheikra is more likely to be deserted more than almost any other coaster in Florida, only beating out Air Grover, Super Grover’s Box Car Derby, Kraken and Tigris.
>>
>>2907395
Why is every good picture of it so low res?
>>
>>2907409
i mean that's probably just because the coaster's not as new and shiny as cheetah hunt or iron gwazi, which tend to get most of the lines at BGT afaik. griffon still gets a line at BGW sometimes and ppl enjoy it.
>>
>>2907415
Every single ride had a long line at CP. every single one. What sucks about CP is that unlike BG fast pass isn’t fast pass. You get CP fast pass and they drop you off where you still have to wait at least 20-30 minutes. You get on BG fast pass and you’re on the ride usually in 5 minutes or less.
>I mean, I guess that’s better bc the operations are fucking insane at CP and I didn’t see a single ride that wasn’t running 2-4 trains minimum, but still. It’s expensive and if you only have one day I felt like I was throwing away $200+
>>
>>2907416
Also why TF does wild mouse not have fast pass?! I had to skip that one bc I simply didn’t have the time and had to hit the road.
>>
>>2907417
I think because the capacity on that one is so low, the really long line would be just unbearable if they took Fast Lane too, especially since the ride appeals to kids.

>Operations: CP
CP is the best in the entire world. I have never experienced operations as efficient, friendly, helpful, or as energetic as at CP. just listening to the live commentary at the station is half of the entertainment. Ride Gemini after dark and see how it goes. 10/10
>Animals: BG
While I love the camel and cow petting. Not being sarcastic, it is was actually pretty fun to pet all the wild farm animals at CP. The goats and turkeys were the icing on the top. Nothing will compare to seeing real African animals at BG, though.
>Beauty: CP
I’ve never seen anything in my entire life like it. Driving up to the peninsula and seeing that skyline that spells Ohio. Holy shit. Insane. Not even close
>Cleanliness: CP
You would struggle to find garbage on the paths here whilst you would easily find overfilled cans at BG

>Theming: Tossup
This was my first ever experience at a boardwalk style Amusement park and I thought it was INCREDIBLE. However, if you want immersion and to feel like you’re somewhere you’re not, BG wins. I’ve been all over the world anon and CP was a theme all into herself. Just depends where you’ve been and what you’re into.
>Rollercoasters: CP
They take everything at BG and just make it bigger and more intense. However, I would say for entry level coasters BGT would be my preferred park bc you can work your way up.
>Demographics: CP
Speaks for itself. However I did see a handful of literal muslims there and it creeped me the TF out. I hope that doesn’t continue.
>Food: Tossup
It’s all tp slop but CP allows food at park open if you have a pass and BG makes you wait until 11. If it wasn’t for Zambezi it wouldn’t even be close. The burgers at the CP diner and that big restaurant they have in the beach are very nice.
>Overall Experience
CP. It’s got everything. Everybody is friendly and helpful. Everything is clean. If they upgraded the Breakers this place would fucking rule. Breakers were a bit of a disappointment. I stayed at a random Hilton on the ride back and it was way nicer for 1/5 the price.
>Final Rating: CP: 10/10 BGT: 7/10
BGT is still my fav park but damn, did this trip show me how incredible it could be if they had proper operations. If you’re a theme park enthusiast, you have to get your ass to CP immediately bc it shames everything we have in FL. Eveything works. There are no elements that don’t. They work for everything they earn and it shows. Well done, Ohio. I love you.

So can you answer the question? Quit playing stupid
MU doesn't mess with stage tricks like Disney does. That doesn't make it a bad ride but in my opinion if you are going to be the best you need that little bit extra.
>>
>>2907432
>>2907427
NTA, but you don't think for a ride that swings you around wildly on a robot arm, that watching a video of it while you are sitting still on your fat ass in front of a computer screen might be quite a different experience?
>>
>>2907432
I'm not playing stupid. I'm just not humoring discussion with a thoosie who never rode the attraction.
It's no different than if we were foodies discussing whether foie gras or caviar or whatever is overrated, and someone admittedly had never tasted it (and probably can't afford it). If there's no experiential reference, what's the point? lol

Visit a zoo.
>>
>>2907598
>poorfag can't afford to visit zoos and theme parks
Not being able to pay for annual passes with EBT must really sting huh?
>>
>>2907600
Of course I can afford to visit Busch Gardens. Everyone can. It’s the second poorest park in the country after Six Flags. Only $155 for an annual pass to all 11 parks in the chain. That’s only $14 per park, or less than some fast food value meals. I’ve used mine to visit all the Sea World and Busch Gardens properties this year, as well as the Pennsylvania Sesame Place.

But that’s not the point. The point is instead of going to a mediocre theme park zoo, you should just visit a real zoo.
>>
>>2907604
No thanks, I'm going to enjoy the animals and trees in Busch Gardens and not ride a single ride and there's nothing you can do to stop me. The atmosphere of a theme park and a zoo are totally different and enjoyable in different ways.
>>
>>2907605
At least choose a non-poverty theme park then. $14 isn’t enough to keep the riffraff out.
>>
I haven't been to Busch Gardens Tampa but I'll definitely visit once Kumba's Revenge opens. I'm so excited to get on Iron Gwazi.
>>
>>2907610
Don't care about pricing. It's already been covered last thread, when it comes to real trees and real animals inside a theme park, Busch Gardens can't be beat. Disney and Universal have nice bits, but for a theme park effectively plopped inside a forest, it's BG or bust. I hate private equity with a passion, but they're going to have to burn acres upon acres, enough to make the LA fires look like a birthday cake, before BG will lose its place as the forest king.
>>
>>2907613
Dollywood is better and more secluded feeling because of the mountains it's built around
>>
>>2907622
Dollywood is great but it's a totally different biome. Temperate mountains =! semi-tropical coast. As a result, the vegetation between the two parks is very different.
Also do you really think private equity isn't going to get its grubby paws on Dollywood? Dolly's spouse is dead and she had no direct descendents. I give the PE sharks a year tops. They're already circling her estate, a real shame.

IP
>Ozzie (did twice)
Surprising sleeper hit, thought it would be bad but genuinely an amazing house. Leans a lot on old school horror, feels very much like a universal monsters house.
>Hellraiser (did three times)
Mainly based off the first two good movies with a bit of the third's opening. Very much a fun haunted house but I'm a hellraiser fan so.im biased. Missed all chatterers my first go around so had to do it again
>Sinners (did once)
Not scary, very much feels like a movie advertisement to advertise something that the kids know. Doesn't have much teeth to it. Still interesting
>Evil Dead Burn (did once)
Shit, boring, trite, worthless. Yet another demonic possession house with no gimmick where a bunch of regular people go crazy and evil. Very flavorless and part of it feels stolen from other houses which did the domestic terror angle better.
>Stranger Things (did once)
Very technically impressive but not scary and definitely not worth the wait time for how overloaded the line will be filled to the brim with people who recognize the famous property. Worth doing if the line isn't over an hour unless you're a mega fan
Still a bit sick so I'll try and collect my thoughts for original properties but genuinely all of them are good to great.

I wish more parks were open weekdays in the fall. I hate the heat and I wish I never had to be outside in the summer. I'd love to enjoy fall weather at a theme park, but most parks are only open on weekends at that point, and then they're doing their Halloween events that are way too crowded.

Not him but RMC seem to have a general market issue. Their big coasters have a massive footprint and can't interact well with scenery and other rides which limits them and they've been a bit slow on the "family+" meta. They've been far too slow to get the Wild Moose ready for market.

Compare them to GCI who can do good family woodies in compact spaces and low heights (look at the Wicker Man for a big example, Alton Towers had been trying to get a wooden coaster for decades)
>>
>>2907872
I still don’t fucking see how the world has already run out of parks that want their normal I-box coasters but here we are.
>>
>>2907873
They're opening a big new one in Walibi Belgium in 2028. Is really love to visit that park when it opens, and hit up Plopsaland as well.
>>
>>2907872
>Their big coasters have a massive footprint
>Compare them to GCI who can do good family woodies in compact spaces
I think RMC's train and track system is capable of any design GCI could produce, is there info around to the contrary? Most of their big coasters were rebuilds of existing coasters so naturally they used most or all of the old ride's footprint.
>>
>>2907858
Guess natural foliage is a poor person privilege and parking lot parks are coded for the bourgeoisie.
>>
>>2907870
Disney and Universal are closed weekdays in the fall? That's definitely news to me.
>>
>>2907876
There doesn't seem to be any obvious reason why they can't do tighter layouts but... they just don't seem to. Only example I've seen from them is Yoy but that's a single file racing raptor which is pretty much the most compact coaster style possible.

There's always the chance they just aren't a fan of those designs but I've a suspicion it's either the supports they use don't lend themselves to it or that their trains lack momentum so have to keep up a high speed to avoid stalls/rollbacks and that makes them unsuitable for tight layouts
>>
>>2907886
I just think no park has asked for something like that.

Ryan the Ride Mechanic had a video about this, he speculated the air pressure bled out which would allow the ram that raises and drops the 2nd lift to fall before air pressure could be restored or the mechanic was up there flagging the upper proximity switch to signal to the PLC to drop the lift and it did, and they were just barely too low for it to make it around:

I truly think it is the most beautful castle park, the only problem is it's been sidelined because Studios is just that horrendous it needed all their attention to un-fuck it. The rumours is that Autopia going to make way for a Star Wars land (that wraps around the back of discovery land to Star Tours) with a Mandalorian coaster. Probably inevitable that closes given the amount of land it takes up, it's limited appeal to adults who can drive and the French government likely to eventually take action on it. Same rumours floated around for ages for the Lion King ride (although that was thought to be around adventureland, near the Indy Coaster, something else seems planned there now).

Jumping on the parenting vibe to say I took my 3yo and 1yo to Bonfante Gardens over the weekend. A fair amount of rides have no height restrictions so long as the kid can stay seated independently (something >50% children are capable of at 9 months) and there's an accompanying adult. All this to say, hoooly shit the railroad is insane. I was expecting a train ride at the same speed as Disneyland but what I got instead was Fast & Furious levels of action. Up, down, inna tunnel, with the goddamn horn tooting every 30 seconds. Baby had a complete meldown; toddler loved it.

Final guesses for what Six Flags' new announcement is going to be?
>>
>>2908957
The announcement is scheduled for right before markets open so probably something Jewish as fuck. My bet is either on private equity getting a big stake in the chain or a Six Flags credit card program (Universal already does this iirc)
>>
>>2908901
If the current Paris Studios is "unfucked", I'd hate to see how bad it was before. Aside from Twilight and an upgrade of Florida's garbage version of Frozen, what does it have?
>>
>>2908864
Alton Towers hours are terrible, but I feel like a lot of European parks have just horrible hours. It's almost impossible to see Efteling's light and water show when it's actually dark out (and thus actually able to see the lights) for example because they usually are open 10-6 or 10-7 even in the height of summer. Meanwhile every Six Flags is usually open until 8, 9, or even 10pm
>>
>>2908969
It's got the best versions of Haunted mansion (with Vincent Price) and Big Thunder Mountain and a version of Pirates that's longer than Florida and better paced than Anaheim. Really good night shows too. Getting it's first Unique E-ticket since Space Mountain with Lion King. The castle park is stuill suffering from no new rides since Buzz Lightyer.

I can't find the article that showed it but just before Disney bought out the initial investors in around 2014, the park was in really really bad shape, literally rotting. Disney spend over a billion just cleaning and repairing the park. Disney Studios/Adventure World was also an embarassment when it opened with only 6 rides (when Lion King opens it'll finally be a respectable full day park).
>>
>>2908969
Oh it's still pretty bad, but definitely better than it was before (Avenger's Campus is debatable tho, Avengers Flight Force is such a downgrade holy shit). I still think it's the worst park, and it probably always will be, but I'm glad they're at least doing SOMETHING. I haven't been since they opened Frozen/Adventure Way, but it probably still is a half-day park. After Lion King and whatever they do in the next plot of land, hopefully it'll finally feel a bit more complete (and with more rides hopefully Crush Coaster won't have such abominable wait times)

I'm really happy to hear it. Selfishly I'm still hoping for Carowinds as that's the closest Six Flags park to me.

>(Avenger's Campus is debatable tho, Avengers Flight Force is such a downgrade holy shit)
Debatable? That area is straight up dog shit. Avengers is just a greenscreen flavor of the week franchise no one will remember in a decade or so. Spider-Man is screen garbage and the Rock N Roll retheme is just as tacky as the Star Wars Space Mountain. As for the land itself, terrible IP aside, it's just a bunch of boring grey concrete buildings. That entire corner of the park is dead weight, not a single redeeming quality.

Is that Crush Coaster any good? It's the only non-flat ride I skipped. Also state if you're the kind of consoomer who thinks Orlando's Slinky Dog coaster is good so I can gauge whether or not your opinion on Crush Coaster can be trusted.

Spider-Man is fun, if it’s the same thing that’s in DCA.

Eurofag here

Is it true American theme parks use metal detectors? I even heard in Disney Land they can check your bag like as if you go to the airport lmao
>>
You're pretty much right. Most European parks like Europa-Park, Phantasialand, Altona Towers, Efteling, Energylandia etc have no metal detectors and no bag checks at entry.

You basically just walk in.

The reason is pretty straightforward: the US has a very different threat landscape. After the 9/11 era and repeated mass-casualty events (school shootings, black live matter protests etc.), US theme parks adopted airport-style screening as standard. European parks operate in a different regulatory and cultural environment where that level of intrusion at a leisure venue is seen as excessive.

>Is it true American theme parks use metal detectors? I even heard in Disney Land they can check your bag like as if you go to the airport lmao
Paris Disney also has a metal detector or at least some kind of X-Ray machine you walk through, not sure when Paris Disney added that though.
>>
>>2909066
Searching bags at park entry was normal before 9/11

Metal detectors started appearing at front gates in the 90s because of localized gang activity. Every major park got them after 9/11
>>
>>2909066
Sometimes they check your bag, just not every guest
>>
>>2909065
Yes, at pretty much every park you go through metal detectors. Some parks X-ray your bags.

Without the graveyard scene? That's tough to argue.

Bound for Michigan's Adventure
>>
>>2909081
I bet it's the best version just because it won't stop multiple times while you're on it so far people can get on from their scooters.
>>
>>2909059
Crush Coaster is an alright ride, it's just NOT worth the astronomical waits it gets. Also while the theming of the load station is pretty nice, the actual ride itself is basically in some dark, barely even themed hangar or something. So you definitely didn't miss out on much.
I haven't been to the US parks yet so I can't comment on Slinky Dog Dash. Looks alright I guess.

>>2909081
You get the Phantom Canyon scene instead tho, its version of Grim Grinning Ghosts there is fucking rad.

They hate convenience for the consumer (you).
>>2909059
I think the Avengers is substanceless consoomerist nonsense, and its associated ride is probably total shit, but even I think calling it a "flavor the of week franchise no one will remember in a decade" is lunacy.
>>2909066
>European parks operate in a different regulatory and cultural environment where that level of intrusion at a leisure venue is seen as excessive.
Yeah, as long as you have protections against jihadists mowing people down in vehicles, or committing stabbings or rapes, there's no need for that level of security presence for quickly checking bags.

The more I think about it, the more I think AireForce One should go to Carowinds. It's supposed to be one of the flagship parks in the chain, and it has one of the best roller coasters in the world, but so much of their ride lineup is just filler and that's definitely an issue for the park. Adding AireForce would give Carowinds probably the best top two in the world. And the nice thing about Carowinds is that if they had to remove a coaster to make room for it, there's plenty that no one would miss.
>>
>>2909151
>And the nice thing about Carowinds is that if they had to remove a coaster to make room for it, there's plenty that no one would miss.
That's how I feel about Canada's Wonderland. Lots of coasters but many of them aren't worth riding unless you're a creditcel
>>
>>2909157
That's very true, and that park would benefit from the coaster as well.
>>
According to SteamDB achievement leaks, Haunted Mansion's one of the worlds in Kingdom Hearts 4 alongside something called Imagineer Planet.

Alton Towers, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Thorpe Park have bag check. I think Alton Towers upgraded recently to the type of security tech you have at WDW where you just walk through it.

Blackpool is pretty relaxed in their bag check and metal detectors.

Thorpe is OTT and can cause a 45-60 minute queue if you arrive half hour before opening. But then its London (lots more ethnics). Also there has been a stabbing there in recent years
>>
>>2909158
Thing is, CW just got Alpen Fury and that park is always slammed, so they’ll be happy for a while. Carowinds and KI haven’t gotten shit in years.
>>
>>2909160
Figment is going to be in Kingdom Hearts 4 isn't he
>>
>>2909172
I can definitely see it going to Kings Island, but they're already maybe the best regional park in the country, and adding AireForce would of course make it even better, but their coaster lineup already feels a lot more complete than Carowinds. Carowinds desperately needs more really good coasters to feel more well rounded. It would go such a long way at that park.
