Honestly the differences in prices are more noticeable between stores and quality than cities. It may vary by a few hundred Yen based on city, but the more important thing for saving money is to look at a shop away from major tourist drags and shopping centers.

I've been to Japan 6 times and I'll basically be going every year at least for the rest of my life for family reasons. I always enjoy but I need to find new interesting places to go when I have free time away from my wife when she's busy. A lot of the trips are because she has some specific reason to go back to Japan, so often I'm kinda on her timing and need to come up with ideas on the fly for myself to have fun.

I'm honestly thinking to knock out every prefecture, I think I'm up to 19 prefectures I've at least spent the majority of the day in on day trips or spent a night in. But I need some more compelling reasons. Anyone have any off the wall ideas for me?

For reference:

11-15: Tokyo, with possibly taking day trips into Yokohama or Fuji Speedway (14-15 is the Super Taikyu Finale, if I miss it nbd but I think it would be a cool experience). I def want to do some of the car museums (Nissan Museums), Honda, STi Shop, Tom's Racing, Spoon Sports all in Tokyo). Hiroshima's museum is a lot more emotional and intense, focusing a lot on the human suffering of people in the city and the destruction of symbolically important buildings like the cathedral.

Nagasaki's museum is more scientific and matter-of-fact. It has some reminders of human suffering but it's much more focused on the science of the bomb, the historical context for both atomic science and WW2, as well as the post-war movements for non-proliferation and peace.

If you're just looking at Hiroshima, it doesn't really talk about the war all that much and instead just focuses on the destruction of the bomb that hit the city and the people's suffering afterwards.
