The 5th is exceptionally incompetent in every aspect of storytelling; it should be studied in detail.
Like, I cannot put into words how it fails every aspect of storytelling. Like, it is not only thematically messy but also can't get anything literally right. It is one thing to make all your characters horrible, but the show doesn't treatment eqaully. Like the show thinks Startlight is awesome, even though she is hypocritical, manipulative, and self-righteous. Meanwhile, the show keeps torturing the Deep because the writers really hate him.
Another thing is the structure of the show; they spend 6/8 episodes of the season searching for a MacGuffin, only for it not to matter and find another solution in the remaining two episodes.
The level of zigzagging is also fucking insane. Like SoldierBoy betrays Homelander like 3 times within this season, and Homelander forgives him in the same episode. Their relationship doesn't change despite the show treating it as the emotional core of the season.
Much like the 8th season of GoT it also feels like it is just missing scenes. Like one episode ends with Starlight having a panic attack over Hughie almost dying, and abandoning the Boys during the middle of the mission, and spending the next episode with her father. She is then shown returning next episode, but the panic attack and her abandoning her team are not addressed.

He was already extremely irritated at having been looked out on by Vought (Stillwell more than anybody else), under PR threat from Butcher, and all of these various distractions that kept him from enjoying his little paradise of infinite money and blowjobs. S1 ending twist was very good, a real wat nou moment. S2 had nothing going on, a badly paced poor attempt at political commentary made for juvenile midwits. They managed to get the Soldier Boy actor on S3, completely missunderstood and misshandled his character, but the guy was so good everyone forgot how bad everything else was. If you were expected to kill Omniman/Superman. You'd expect it to be much more than fighting in a single room. Homelander was supposedly able to go scorched earth levels of strength. The fight back in s3 he fought Storage Boy(Soldier Boy), Super powered Hughie and Butcher at the same time.

These are basically Gods fighting. We needed a lot more damage or at least some tension. Soldier Boy and Ryan are nowhere to been for the final fight like they should have. Father and Son of Homelander is simply a better dynamic.

Ryan the Son of Homelander hates him, SB is indifferent but makes sense he would have flipped again. Butcher hates homelander for the situation with his wife and the complicated dynamic of Ryan.

Both were written out and sidelined.

Storage Boy being choked out and put away is embarrassingly bad writing. Storage Boy is a better fighter than Homelander and goes out without even a whimper let alone any kind of fight.

They just give the "Anti Superhero" power that Storage Boy had to Kimiko. What? How does that make any lick of sense. Why?
Kimiko doesn't have the connection to Homelander like Ryan and SB does. Yes she and the Boys hate him but it's so shoehorned in that it makes me think they literally shelved SB away for the prequel.

Homelander was able to track and fly at A Trains pace.

A-Train additionally should have been easily to outrun Homelander and dodge all the lazers. Speedsters are notoriously terribly written and Kripke continued that trend. Bravo. Some will cope and say he was hurt because he got hit in the shoulder. Should have been his leg.

A-Train is so fast that time basically moves so fast that the first episode of the boys makes no sense now. If he's able to perceive time that slowly WHY DID HE RUN INTO HUGHIES GIRLFRIEND?

Homelander is able to perceive and track A-Train so well that he should never lose a fight. He should be able to dodge every punch.
