The part that bugged me the most actually was the Gunter Van Allen character showing up. It was obviously Elon Musk. And it really pushed how on the nose that Homelander = Trump. It's really not. They knew Soldier Boy had radiation powers that negated supes powers. They found a radiation chamber that Soldier Boy was tested in, it also weakened Homelander. Now that the dust has settled, have they ever explained what the fuck the deal was between Homelander and Becca? Raping her makes no sense for the Homelander character as we know him even though it's supposed to be Butcher's driving motivation against him. I get that it was early on and they might have even been still considering the comics Black Noir twist, but it's a huge plot hole.

I loved the movie Glass even though a lot of people disliked it, as did my friends I saw it with. They were all disappointed that the ending wasn't some giant action packed fight on a building like they were leading it up to be, but a pitiful end against normal humans where a beloved superhero drowns in a puddle. The movie was a deconstruction of superheroes, it was never going to lead to a big flashy finish no matter what people wanted, this was the point.
The Boys pretended to be a show that was a deconstruction and satire of superhero movies, where you think that it's going to subvert things because it's making fun of the very thing it is based on. However, The Boys does NOT do this. It did it in Season 1 for the most part, but quickly lost focus and just became another superhero show, but now with gore and dick jokes. People wanted a massive fight with Homelander destroying cities and typical superhero shlock because the show became one of those shows. It even advertised itself as such this season. However, they tried to have their cake and eat it too, and had the ending be anti-climatic, in a room with a few people, main villain begging pitifully not to be killed. It was not earned, they lost the ability to have that be satisfying at all after season 1. They created an ending that needed to be a big dumb stupid superhero ending or everyone was going to be pissed. And they didn't do that, so everyone is pissed.

They left it ambiguous to what actually happened in the first season but then changed their minds and had Becca clearly state it was rape in season 2. Homie was a gropey with Starlight in season 2 and made Maeve date him before the show started.

The problem is that they made him zesty from season 2 so that he could interact with Ryan and Stormfront better and changed his character. He never seemed very sexual after Stormlight either.

They should have had a twist in the finale where it turns out it was an affair because Butcher was too drunk to get it up and didn't want kids. Why else would she ditch him to have her rapists baby and never see Butcher again.
