It doesn't have any of the stylistic characteristics of a soap opera because it doesn't have the format of a soap opera. Soaps air like 200+ episides a year and the style is because of that. The circular conversations that go on multiple episodes is because storylines go for a week with a big reveal or cliffhanger at the end of the week and there'll be 3 or 4 storylines per week. Also soaps tend toward hour two hour time slots very rarely 30 minute time slots
