It’s like a decent 2/5 and still manages to be the only good ”new” Star Wars movie. It’s the only one i’m likely to ever rewatch besides 1-6.

Rogue One shares literally all the same problems with The Force Awakens.
>>

It never did in the first place. Completely forgettable characters and plot, only notable for a horrible CGI Tarkin and Leia and the dumb Vader hallway scene.

no, but as we discovered with the passage of time it could have been a lot fucking worse. That doesnt make it good, its just not a god fucking awful insult to anyone with a middling IQ.

It went downhill after Jyn Erso went from "I don't care about the Empire, you can actually live a pretty decent life with a smuggling gig as long as you keep your head down" to getting radicalized and becoming a fervent rebel in the span of 5 minutes. I get she was mad that they killed her father but it felt like it was a solid 20 minutes of character development missing from the cut. Suddenly she's giving speeches about crushing the opressors when two scenes before she was totally apathetic. The pacing felt off in many other scenes like a first draft quickly mashed together. No joke I think this movie was released in an unfinished state.

>>
>>220717398
It's probably the most boring piece of Star Wars content out there. Worse than the Ewok movies because those at least had charm. Rogue One simply has nothing memorable to like throughout it's runtime.

I don't even remember what her name was in the movie... and I only know Andor's because they built a non Star Wars show around his nothing "character" (which I think was just 'panicky accent').
>>
>>220717398
I rewatched this as well as a few of the early marvel movies last year and none of it holds up. Better than most films coming out today, especially in their franchises, but not worth a single rewatch. I don't like the prequels and I would rather watch those again than rogue one. It's not bad or good, just boring.

the show Andor made me realize that there is no way to take any of this shit seriously with the John Williams soundtrack playing in the back.

>They sacrifice their lives to meet one goal: Blowing a secret hole in the side of Mt Doom so that Frodo will be able to get into it at the end of RotK
That's what I thought of Rogue One.
Completely fucking retarded, didn't understand Star Wars, the characters sucked, ruined the original film, and is not canon.

>>220717727

To be fair everything else star wars usually focuses on since the prequels is very capeshit. It's all about laser sword wielding monks with super powers. That blind guy in rogue one is borderline understated by comparison. At least in the OT you had regular ol' human guy Han to balance out the magical space wizard plotline.
>>
>>220718154

>>
>>220717398
It's passable. It's very indicative of the current state of star wars when saying it's inoffensive and doesn't insult the viewer is considered high praise. It's on a similar level as the new Mando movie.

It didn’t fully hold up then, the reshoots are obvious, the characters flat, and the digital faces never looked right. It’s a YouTube fan film on a big scale. Patchy and with bits of pandering fan service like the corridor scene to distract from the flaws, but culturally we’ve taken a big swing towards that sort of thing. All the characters are pretty bland and shallow, so you ultimately don't end up caring what happens to them either. It's basically just a treadmill to the finish with some meaningless action setpieces. And Andor actually being good doesn't retroactively make Rogue One any better.

It was heavily reworked with reshoots. They paid Tony Gilroy like 10 million to take over from Gareth Edwards. There ots stuff in the trailers that could not have happened in the cut that was released; like Jyn and Cassian running across the beach and through the imperial base with the Death Star Plans on her belt. The action figure of her that came out before the movie did, was called "Sergeant Jyn Erso", even.

You don’t get it. Disney knows all of EU and wants all of it because fans love it. At the same time they’re yids so they don’t want to pay royalties to the original creators. That’s why C-3PO suddenly has a red arm. That why the falcon has a different shaped antenna or some cargo shit in the center. That’s why you get ATATs but with a hole in the middle. That way you get all the fans to recognize product while not having to pay a dime for royalties. It’s not some fans product of love for EU, it's a kid copying an essay while changing the minimum required to not get caught.

How is that relevant in this case? They included Kyle Katarn's gun with absolutely zero changes.

Look really closely and you’ll find one detail that’s different. It’s always one detail.

Felicity is beautiful. The CGI is quite good.
Its missing some shit from the trailers that could have been cool.
It doesn’t have meme-able dialogue.
It doesn’t have a happy ending. They shove leia into the end to lighten it up. The main droid is probably too scary. Needs more cute stuff. But it looks like OT star wars.

People who say they like this movie really only like a handful of "cool scenes", that's it. They don't like the movie itself, just those scenes.

I would say it's extremely memorable. Of coruse I'm going to rewa5tch the redlettermedia vid about it to see what people thought on release. It has some weakesses but it's stayed the test of time so far.

Andor wasn't actually all that. It was exhaustively dialogue-driven, meaning most episodes were people having meaningful conversations about something or other. I frankly did not care for the lesbian love scene, the attempted forcible rape, the occasional harsh profanity, or the other ugly jarring un-Star-Warsy notes. It was, however, superbly acted and had its high points.

And of course, it had Syril and Dedra huffing and puffing in that hot steamy space closet. We will always have that moment, anons.

It is Star Wars. It ironically actually feels closer to the OT than the prequels or sequels, despite its more adult tone.

It does the stuff Lucas wanted to do but couldn't because Lucas can't write for shit (he has characters explain the plot).

Andor is basically the Wrath of Khan of Star Wars; made by a person who was not a fan (Meyer/Gilroy), who ended up making it one of the best of the franchise.
