STAR WARS IS SAVEDBRAVO DISNEY
>oh thank god that multi-billion dollar company made some more money
they doubted glup shitto
>>220725958It's a rainy and cloudy weekend on the east coast. Probably giving them a big boast
>>220725958INB4 its actually more profitable than Rise of Skywalker because it was made for like 30 million or some TV Budget lmao
>>220725958Welcome to the high score club.
>>220725958Surely their made for TV movie didn't cost more than 100m right?
>>220726295How many of those verified ratings are bots these days? I've not visited rotten tomatoes since 2008
>>220726328It's like 190 for production but the marketing was ridiculous.
>>220725958Some insider reports said that Disney was mostly baking this film's profits on merch, not so much the film itself. Starfighter is what they're really banking in to revive the franchise, this was made quickly just to have something SW in theaters after so long and promote plushies and D+ subs.
>>220725958QUICK DUMP MONEY STAT!!!
>>220725958>IT'S REALLY SUCCESSFUL! TRUST US!Oh we haven't seen this tactic a billion times lately.
>>220726276Rainy, cloudy, holiday weekend based entirely around outdoor activites. Bad weather means movies. >t. Coastal tourist town
>>220725958Actually it's earning less than Solo so far and has to earn 1.3-1.5 times Solo numbers to really match it because of inflation
This is kind of a a paradox for disney, they may scrounge up a few extra million but at the expense of more people hating the movie and sinking the IP value further.
>>220725958>Yee-haw my fellow goys, how are you liking my movie?
>>220726439That's not surprising, at Disney merch is king. It's why they abandon so many properties that did well in the box office but didn't sell clothes and toys.
>>220725958I'm just amazed that Star Wars is even still a property that existsDisney killed it by 2017 and they are still a decade later trying to make shekels off this shit when it has no cultural popularity at all
Baby Yeed for 20 more years
>>220726651That exact mentality is what led them to devaluate the brand. KK begged them to delay TFA to 2016 to have a stronger film but Disney was adamant to have their first SW release on 2015 to have as quick a return in their investment as possible.
>>220726677That's literally what happend with Cars. None of the three films are amongst Pixar's highest grossing films (even the first one was one of the studio's lowest grossing films at the time) but that franchise is still alive 20 years in because the toy sales are just that strong.
I think you merch fags need to get a roomMando & Grogu toys ain't selling shit
>>220726295>and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy.YOU WILL NEVER OUTDO THE IMPERIAL WARLORDS FROM THE EU YOU DISNEY SAVAGE JEW HACK CUNTOID MOTHERFUCKERS!!!!!!!
>>220726831I've always been someone who thinks that even of the rest of the franchise is fucked, individual entries can be enjoyed on his own. However, every time they talked about protecting the New Republic in this movie I just lost engagement everytime. I don't know how much you can invest yourself in that plotline since you know for a fact it all ends in a pathetic, miserable end for the NR.
>>220726375That's funny because I never heard about this movie coming out so their marketing must not be working
>>220726803They used to. But after 5-6 years, 3 seasons, and now a movie they've put out dozens of variants of the same toys for both these characters and nobody is left to buy them that hasn't already.
>>220726911I think he meant rididculous in that way. Disney barely promoted the film so they probably saved a lot of money by not going with a gigantic marketing.
>>220726848you laugh but these have DOUBLED since then
>>220726867The New Republic under Disney sucks so much shit it's unreal. They are unironically worse, more incompetent, more corrupt, and more evil than both the Old Republic and the Empire combined. The New Republic and Imperial Remnant in the EU were both based.
>>220725958if you like the first season and a half of the mandalorian, you'll like the movieworst parts of the movie is waever and the xwingsbut they're barely in it
>>220726939they bought the imax lead-in. if you saw an imax movie in the last year, it was a trailer for it. sometimes two.
>>220726983also, jabba jr voice is odd and felt like a family guy bit
>>220726347probably very few when they just pay 10 cents a post for real people.
>>220726983>if you like the first season and a half of the mandalorianIdk anon I really like the dirst season but didn't like this film. The charaters were never super complex, but they were charming enough and seeing a lone wolf gradually learn to care about another was engaging. By contrast, Mando & Grogu are total non-entities in this film. I didn't expect something to move the SW world forward or anyhing on that scale, but hell at least move the character's relationship in a new direction. There really is no place for this two to go after reversing their arcs in TBoBF.
>>220726941They were 3 dollars but they are now 6 dollars??? sign me up!!!!!!
>already made back its $165 million budget you guys have egg on your face!
>>2207271250/10
>>220726941Kek, okay. Its like those guys who are drop shipping out of their apartment and end up scammed themselves.
>>220725958Uhoh, this is going to cause some meltdowns from the rian fan club
>>220726019>>220726195>>220726276sweet sweet seethe and copeyou gotta love it
>>220726375Was it? I didn't get shit for ads. I've gotten handily 100x more ads for HeMan than mandalorian
>>220726439>merchandise for a production that began in 2019not even whales are going to buy a movie edition baby yeed at this pointthe issue isn't about profitability so much as mando currently being the marquee property for a brand once thought to be evergreen$102 million holiday weekend is good for sonic the hedgehog, not star wars
>>220726328It was apparently shot entirely in California, so it would have been expensive. Look at a movie like One Battle After Another which had a blockbuster-sized budget due to being shot there.
>>220726439>this was made quicklyThey started filming it 2 years ago, with 18-months in post.
>>220729428We've just spent two days, having you faggots spam pro critic opinions about this thing being an absolute flop when they gave the last jedi a 5 out of 5 rating, keep moving those goalposts, nigger faggot
>>220727125Budget is anywhere between $165 million to $300 million, and then marketing spend on top of that.
>>220725958well the mandolarion tv show was better than those 3 new star wars movies, so it makes sense
