Credit to Lost World for having Malcolm visibly changed by the events of the first film. Most franchises wouldn’t do that type of thing now. By the time Dominion came along they had Goldblum just doing a Flanderized version of himself in the first one

I might have to swallow the forbidden truth and agree. The plot is just the right amount of dumb for what it is, doesn't take itself too seriously overexplaining everything, but also isn't too dumb. It's high action pretty much the whole time. Yeah characters make horrible decisions nobody would ever attempt to make in real life (you would hope), but the less room for breathers here gives you less time to really chew on that. You're just too busy watching people getting eaten. It's like the closet to a great 80s action movie than any of the other ones.
