I love the Simpsons unconditionally... up to season 8. After that, it's more conditional.

Because they think they need it and that it serves whatever agenda they have. Same reason they flock to people like Hasan Piker who is obviously a hedonist with no real beliefs or ideals that just parrots what he knows his audience wants to hear while profiting off of them.

Modern Simpsons is not even the same show as the golden age show from the 90s. Pretty much everyone loved the Simpsons in the 90s. Those seasons stand as among the greatest TV has ever produced as a medium.

The problem is mostly that the new people brought onto to write the show were not as good as the original team, and eventually the outnumbered the oldheads, and then the last of the old writers were gone, and we were left only with people who were never quite as funny or creative as them on their best day, and eventually even these people were replaced by even worse writers, resulting in the garbage we have now.
