It's all getting very tiresome
>>
His short films are scary af!
>>
Yet, for some reason, these movies don't seem to have much staying power. Why is that?

I feel like it's because conceptually, they're too focused on being smart and are overreliant on cheap gimmicks, and those just don't last very long in the public mind.
>>
Alanna Pearce is getting into film making as well. Good for all youtubers.
>>
>>220740370
woke scared off all the creatives with balls. Even most movies from the early 2000's "couldnt get made" today
>>
>>220740370
Budget isn't very big (with a few exceptions) and they make a lot of money. Also, liking these movies and talking about them in the sense that "wow did you see the lighting/easter egg" gives midwits the chance to feel like film students
>>
>>220740396
It's funny because I feel that way too like horror films used to were super grimy and hardcore would not fuck around and and now it's always about like love bombing, or some gay shit
>Get Out
Race
>Barbarian
Trauma
>Longlegs
Motherhood
>Oddity
Grief
>Obsession
Entitlement

Compare that to like texas chainsaw massacre or hills have eyes, which just survived because they were fucked up and crazy

Night house
Never here 2017
What keeps you alive
All movies that needed this level of exposure and were cool af!

>Yet, for some reason, these movies don't seem to have much staying power. Why is that?
Oversaturated streaming market. Same as it's been for the past 10 years, but worse.
40 years ago, if a movie released to rave reviews and box office numbers, it would play in cinemas for 3+ months and audiences would talk about it nonstop (at school, at the office, in the line for whatever). Movies were cultural experiences.
Nowadays, we have like 6 blockbusters set to release in the next 2 months. And for them to get attention, they have to take attention away from everything else. On top of that, countless streaming slop will release so every film release is more like a long episode of a tv show in terms of how people remember it. And on top of that, audiences are fucking retards who literally doomscroll on their phone while watching flicks in the background.
It has literally nothing to do with the films' quality (even though flicks like Weapons and Longlegs are horrendously overrated).

This. It's like when boomers when accuse shit of being peak millennial writing even though it's just another example of shitty gen x writing, produced by boomers. They actually want to know the truth. They just want to complain that millennials are bad.
>>
>>220740557
Holy ESL. Also, it's gen z complaining about the stereotypical millenial writing, which is an actual thing in horror. Just like that the most vanilla slasher genre back in the day was peak boomer writing.
On an unrelated note yeah, I'm getting obsession fatigue. Everyone is going
>oh wow you know i think nikki was the victim
>did you see the clock? AYOOOO
>hear me out, did you see that nikki was wearing sarah's hair at the end?
Jfc people, is this the first movie that you've ever watched
>>
Global media is completely oversaturated
We now have practically unlimited content
It must be insane trying to stand out in 2026

There is more schlock than ever. Poor people still have network tv and infomercials all day.

Cries the retard, completely oblivious to the fact that the only media he's watched within the last year were extremely prolific shows/films or ones that had lots of /tv/ shitposting.
>>
>>220740703
Listen dude, the quicker you accept that you are where you are because of your own choices, the better. You cant blame other generations for not making it, take some accountability man.

>it was about horror movies until you started foaming about millenial/boomer shit
No, I was replying to why films don't seem to have cultural relevance. I know you're pretty mad right now but do try to pay attention
>>
>>220740788
Where is the evidence that everyone can succeed in life? How do you justify that logic when victims of crime and disease exist, and when those circumstances are clearly not their choice?
The existence of a few successful billionaires does not mean everyone can achieve prosperity. That is a ludicrous argument and a clear example of survivorship bias.
>>

Thanks for bunping my thread though, kerp on going

>There are no good films anymore! I haven't watched a new film in 10 years because they're all so crap
I'm starting to wonder if these posts are rage b8. But they're too frequent?
>>
>>220740954
>being a lazy person who did absolutely nothing about his/her potential, lacked the spine to plan 5 years ahead and failed to put any effort in is the same thing as being a victim of crime and disease
>>

It's the same thibg when people say "oh yeah, I cant watch movies that were made prior 2006, they look sooooo aged"
>>
>>220740439
They're more hardcore today though
>>

>There are no good films anymore! I haven't watched a new film in 10 years because they're all so crap
That's not what he said tho, he was saying good films get ignored if they don't blow up on social media (hence prolific) it's why people watch and talk about the boys even tho theres obviously better shows and films out there

Picrel is applicable here too. Who'da thunk!
As >>220741328 already pointed out, that isn't what he said. Like, at all. You were really pathetic enough to twist his post and make up an argument in your head to totally "own the chuds" lmao
>>
>>220741483
Are you retarded, I am agreeing with him
>>
i really like his comedy stuff on IG
>>
>>220741328
I was adding on to what he was saying.
The majority of people that watch stuff only watch popular shit. And then you get a bunch of people smugly saying that they don't watch any shit because they're only aware of popular shit, and have written it all off as pure shit without watching any of it.
And then you point this out and they respond with the shit-eating comic being like "how do you know it's shit if you haven't tasted it?" like that's some sort of gotcha.
>>
>>220740406
>they make a lot of money

Yeah but exactly zero people watch them again. But I still watch Scream every year.

>>220740370
Because the marketing is great but the films aren't.
>>
>>220741777
NTA but I think it's stupid to generalize that all new films are shit
>>
>>220740396
If they had balls then they wouldn't have got scared off. They sound like pussies to me.
>>
>>220741820
Not all of them. M3gan is endlessly rewatchable.
>>
>>220741862
Scared off isn't the right word, more like fed up. Have you worked with wokies? They fucking suck and that's pretty much the majority of crew and actors nowadays.
>The female character doesn’t have enough agency.
>This character feels like an offensive stereotype
>The villain is problematic
>Sexual assault might traumatize sensitive viewers

Like you can watch any horror film from the 70s and 80s and I bet you'd find at least 5 things wokies would complain about
>>
>>220741961
Fair enough. It's a whole "it isn't worth the trouble" type thing. Ironic, the left is more about the arts and creative expression than the right is, yet the left are the ones stifling creativity with a bunch of nonsense "rules" you have to follow.
>>
>>220742104
>The movie was made in 1982 and oh boy, you can tell. Luckily Marvin, the oitcast guy who saw Lucille change his clothes is the next one to go mothafuckaaaa serves his perv ass right! he was a piece of shit! The glaring problematic problems of the movie cant be ignored but hey, that's a wooden chainsaw
