The mistake of trying to continue SW is not acknowledging that the wider audience understood that the 6 movies told the story of Anakin/Luke and that story concluded.

They should've started a new saga with a new mythic journey of a different character unrelated to anything going on in the OT/PT.
Set it a thousand years into the future and start fresh. That way it's a clean start and it's not fucking up everything else retroactively.
You can still have lightsabers and same kind of aesthetic in general and recognizable elements but a completely new story could be done.
Sort of what like KOTOR did, but in the past of the setting, they could've done in the future.

In parallel they could've still used the PT/OT era to tell smaller stories for people that prefer that.
Instead they tried to continue the saga and it ended up retarded on all fronts.

Now the same is being done with LotR with Colbert writing a continuation of the concluded story, which again is idiotic.

The prequels had energy and there was a story to tell there. Maybe misguided energy.

But the sequels have no energy whatsoever. It's like watching a prolonged commercial for something you're not buying. Characters say lines that don't matter and mean nothing. Everyone is just going through motions. Things happen. At no point is it clear that a driven human being sat down and wrote any of it. It was clearly made by some committee that wanted to make the blandest SW thing imaginable and just go through a checklist.
The whole thing is so anti-human it's baffling.
