His first film he was the main comic lead in was Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, which he followed up with The Animal, then The Hot Chick, then Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo...And throughout this time he was routinely appearing in Adam Sandler movies... These clangers were getting dropped alongside the likes of Road Trip, Me, Myself & Irene, Jack Black becoming a thing, Ben stiller and Zoolander/Meet the Parents, Austin Poweres movies were still being made and Shrek 1 was in the cinema etc etc. You can argue are any of them as shit as Shallow Hal and maybe youd be right, but compared to even some of the Sandler movies he starred in his efforts at comedy writing were pretty terrible when compared to the likes of his contemporaries such as Sandler, Farrelly brothers or even Todd Phillips who all are more miss than hit.

Rob for a while there had the job of the token Jew that would frequently ruin and not add anything to the movies he's in and be more annoying than a benefit. He did it in Judge Dredd, he did it in Knockoff, he did it in Down Periscope; he finally started getting his own lead movie roles and everyone saw first hand that he couldn't carry a film and thus, he relegated himself to being in Adam Sandler's clique to where he will always get in on Adam's tax write off excuses to bring his friends with him on vacation somewhere movies where Adam's the lead and has and gets the hottest wife. He may be second fiddle to Adam for the rest of his life ("YOU CAN DO IT!"), but it doesn't seem to bother him and he's comfortably rich so whatever. To have a string of movies come out back to back in the early 2000s to set him for life and not be in anything of significance since more or less tells you everyting you need to know.The problem with Rob is that he has shown he's level-headed and somewhat likeable off-camera, giving pretty clear cut criticisms about the industry in interviews and opinions that aren't of the mainstream narrative. Its easy to hate Rob for the movies he shows up in, but its easy to see how he is still able to get work.
