It's because most states have bullet caliber and or weight requirements to ensure an ethical kill on the animal because durr have thicker hides than people and some states have straight wall requirements to limit range and accidently hitting someone. Plus an AR of a given caliber will weigh more than a bolt action of the same caliber because a semi auto just needs more mass for all of the functioning partsalso you are gay
