Also. The new Ultimates run should have just come to an end last month. A 2-year run setting up a new ultimate universe created by Evil-Reed richards from the first ultimate run fucking off to a parallel reality where he takes control. Its not bad, it was always intended to be a 2 year run so its got a good pace and feels like its heading towards something.

The nature of comics (and especially DC) means you have big crossover events, and you need bad-guys who can represent enough of a threat to justify that. Once you start throwing in a multiverse then you can escalate even farther. You have your street level threats, city-wide threads, planetary scale threats, universal scale threats, and then multiverse level threats. You have a nice range of heroes that stay in their various lanes.
