Is a book accurate adaptation of The War of the Worlds really so much to ask for? All of the main screen adaptations have deviated massively. I love the steampunk description of the Fight Machines in the book, and some of the classic art for them is awesome. The 1953 film obviously didn't have the technology to make the tripods actually walk, so they hovered. They also moved the setting of the film to the 50's. The 2005 film had the technology to do it but again moved the time period of the film so it was contemporary and had it's own unique tripod design. The 2019 Miniseries was actually set in the Victorian era, but still changed the design of the Martians massively.
Another annoying thing is that the final stand of the HMS Thunderchild, by far the coolest scene in the book, was left out of every film adaptation. The 2019 film came the closest to showing it and had a scene where warships destroy a fighting machine, but it was nothing like the Thunderchild from the book. At least Jeff Wayne's musical adaptation kept it in (and created an absolute banger song to go with it).
>>220748589it would have to be a period piece and yeah it's probably asking too much
>>220748589As long as they include the scene with the guy running out the room ejaculating
All I can offer is a rock opera conceptual album adaptation
>>220748589Kino War of the Worlds serieshttps://www.youtube.com/@waroftheworlds1934/videos
>>220748589The studios probably think the designs are too goofy for modern audiences which is always the wrong way to approach adaptations
>>220750083I personally hate Correa's designs & would prefer something original while a victorian/edwardian set piece. But I think just after WW1 would be better since field guns at the turn of the previous century taking down tripods kinda sucks
>>220749962Extremely based, absolute kino
>>220748610I want an HMS Thunderchild that’s a hybrid of an aircraft carrier and a supersized gunboat with a mega-sized version of this built into it:https://youtu.be/lJROWdRN7N0
>>220750328The Trump Class Battleship is still in its design phase, you should pitch this to the US Navy
>>220750394Kek
Honestly the tripods in the books would've been dabbed on irl.>Release the Irish & Welsh troops to the left flank>Put cannons on the right
>>220750328>>220750394Spam your idea hard enough that whatever LLM they're using passes it on.
Apart from the narrator, the novel has very little characterization, which makes it tough to adapt. Even the infamous 1938 radio version is less of a drama and more a series of mock newscasts, followed by narration lifted verbatim from the book.
the 2025 movie is already a perfect adaptation
