The upcoming Amazon series Blade Runner 2099 has had its release delayed (again) until 2027. A spokesperson for Amazon stated the most recent delay is due to "incompatible audience goals."
>>220757094>delayed for 6 years nowLmao. Just cancel this shit already.
That's a man.
>>220757094Hunter is looking really rough as it is, so more delays are really not good.
>>220757094I was in the test audience and I demanded they show Hunter's gock
>>220757094just cancel it, nobody wants to watch a tranny lead
>>220757094>First blade runner took place in 2019>looked futuristic >Second blade runner took place in 2049>world looked the same as in in 2049>Now the show is taking place in 2099>Still looks more-or-less the same as in 2019So basically from my understanding, we had a super high jump in technological advancements between 1982 and 2019 in the Blade Runner universe, but then after that point technology just sort of stopped advancing? I mean at the rate they were advancing in the 80s, 90s, 00s, and 10s, by 2099 they would theoretically have solved most of humanity’s issues and become some sort of utopia where everyone lives forever as digital brains or can have their consciousness transferred into a replicant body or something. This strikes me as lazy writing, like the alien universe.
The shooting started in 2024. Why this much delay? Same with the new season of The Terror. It was a finished product in 2024 and it got released now? (It's bad for those interested. It got Dan The Man Stevens but don't bother)
>>220757094>incompatible audience goalsLol
>>220757189the idea of aesthetics not changing for a long time is a poignant critique of the 21st century. if you went back in time to the 1920s or 1960s or 1980s you'd have no time telling what period or was... but cars and clothes and everything looks the same now as in 1995 onwards. it's actually more fitting for the blade runner world to have 80 years of cultural stagnation
>>220757285Not really, the 2000s were vastly different to now. Things only really started to stagnate around the early to mid 2010s. A lot of people blame the internet for making cultural homogeneous since subcultures always grew on their own in a form of isolation, which just isn't possible in the internet age where everyone is connected at all times with each other in various ways.
>>220757189An often disregarded aspect of Cyberpunk is a stagnation of culture and technology. No matter how much time passes the world keeps being a cyber shit hole because people stopped giving a shit and corporations only make advancements in things that fuck over people. Thats why cyber punk 2077 is only slightly more futuristic than cyberpunk 2020 in designs.
>>220757348Even that seems confusing. People want new things to show off and that's exceedingly difficult if the new shit looks like the old shit from 50 years ago.
>>220757189are you new to cyberpunk? the hallmark of the genre is corporation conquering society and progress grinding to a halt after the dytopia takes hold. corporations don't need to compete anymore, don't need to answer to laws or regulations, and exist purely as extraction engines. what little technological process happens is purely for the sake of improving extraction (eg: replicants)the lack of advancement isn't an oversight, its the point
>>220757285>>220757347I don't really buy this. There are thousands of internet subcultures. There are dozens on this site, let alone the billions of subreddits and X pages. The difference is you guys got older and, probably, more concerned with politics, so you replaced being into Warhammer or Jungle music with concerns about racial casting in the Odyssey. Even posting here means you're in a subculture.
>>220757481>wtf this fictional world is different from the world I live inholy shit thats crazy dude. were you just as vexed about how harry potter could cast magic, even though magic isn't real?
>>220757494Huh? The people I responded to are talking about the real 1980s and the real 2000s.
>>220757112Nah, I want to see if they'll release Blade Runner 2099 in 2099
>>220757094that dude needs to get a haircutfucking hippies
>>220757481Sure, niche cultures exist online, but not IRL. What I mean is that IRL subcultures can't exist because of how online everyone is. Some thirdie countries still manage it though and it's because they don't have smartphones or the internet.
>>220757094>I don't get it, they love Blade, they love Runner. One kid loves the tranny from euphoria
>>220757464That theme isn't really present in Neuromancer. They encounter new kinds of technology at various points.
>>220757552I dunno, I mean there are still goths, skater guys, nerdy white dudes playing Magic and other card games, metal heads, wiggers, there are TRPG scenes even in small towns. There are weird astrology crystal-girls and pot-heads and shroom-heads. Political rallies are happening probably more than ever. You can meet your middle aged conspiracy guys there or the commie girls that don't shave. Maybe you're just not getting out there as much as you used to.
>>220757622Those cultures aren't new or different from the old ones though, that's the point. New subcultures aren't appearing naturally IRL anymore.
>>220757630They do appear IRL but they might originate online. That's hardly a kind of stagnation though.
>>220757565
>>220757464>>220757576In the Neuromancer trilogy, Case talks about how the black clinics constantly make new implants and capabilities no one had ever imagined before, AI is emerging for the first time, in addition to creepy new fashions like whatever bored trillionaires like 3Jane do and flash-in-the-pan street gangs that completely surgically modify themselvesSnow Crash is a genre setting cyberpunk novel about the world's greatest VR samurai technofeudal pizza delivery boy; its sequel The Diamond Age takes place approximately a century later and envisions a post-scarcity dystopia (basically replicators from Star Trek get invented but better humans from Star Trek don't so 99% of people are illiterate drug addicts that press magic buttons on their walls for free stuff and the 1% elite jerk off to handmade glass and parchment and other Victorian type things that can't be easily replicated because everything a replicator shits out is 'perfect')But I'd really single out Hardwired. It's literally the book that the Cyberpunk TRPG is based on. It's about a Panzerboy and a Solo committing petty crimes and fighting the influence of the pedophile cyborg orbital oligarchs across the scorched Midwest. Its sequel is a fucking space opera.
https://archive.4plebs.org/tv/search/image/RqTvwkuXXIRezJOM-xG5-g/Not this shit again
>>220757189there was an apocalypse between BR1 and BR2 but they just kinda glossed over it
>>220757464No it's not cyberpunk is about teens being delinquents and terrorists using computers
>>220757247So Hunter made a replicant of himself since he could try to be a girl? I bet that's the plot and a black guy has to help him beat bigotry over it or something
>incompatible audience goalsin english, doc
>>220758242It's so dog shit that even normies won't watch it
>>220757189You do see new technology in BR2049 like hologram tech and the newest JOI upgrade, but a lot of tech advancement was from the protein farms and stuff to adjust to the collapse of the planet's ecosystem. So, I'm thinking by the time 2099 takes place is there even going to be anything left of Earth at all?
Still gonna watch for Hunty
>>220757094This isn't some woke teenslop with that ugly black chick from DUNC. They know putting a mentally ill man in the lead of a science fiction series based on a niche IP that bombed twice at the box office wasn't the best idea.
>>220758242No one wants to see mentally ill faggots pretend to be women.
If it's shot for test audiences it's not art. You're a coward if you make something by a checklist, and still won't put it out to be judged.
>>220757094>"incompatible audience goals."Yeah, pretend your audience believe that dickface ugly dude is a woman is an hard goal.
>>220758242>>220758253>>220758359they mean people want to see another film, not a series.
>>220757094this trash is never getting released lmao
>>220758359>No one wants to see mentally ill faggots pretend to be women.says the retard so preoccupied with trannies he can't resist introducing 'em to discussions in which they've fuck-all relevance
>>220757124I wish she'd just tell trans stories. She's SOOO good at it and there's so many great ones to tell.
>>220757094>incompatible audience goalswhat does this mean? is it like that spartacus show where straight white men watched it instead of the intended audiences of women and fags?
>>220758242they have made a woke show focusing on the tranny and his trannyism. but bladerunner is most popular with normal men. so they their goals for an audience have been mismatched
>>220758723Dude learn to speak corpo. It means they couldn't find a big enough audience to cover the required budget, in other words, they knew it was a flop.
>>220758738>bladerunner is most popular with normal men. It's not tho. It's completely unfair to blame the tranny for not being able to carry a movie that had, at best, a $300mil box office draw but needed a $300mil budget to get it. The reality you don't want to accept is that Bladerunner is FUCKING BORING and Ryan Gosling doesn't actually have any star power.
>>220757124she cute
>>220758633>starring Hunter Schafer>trashPick one
>>220758782>It's completely unfair to blame the trannyIt is completely fair.
>>220758848No, it isn't. Huntress doesn't have $300mil worth of star power, there's nobody except you on earth that would even suggest such a thing. She was there to be the eye candy that whatshername from Terminator Dark Fate was in 2049, and she's waaaay more androgynous than huntress. The reality is that this movie DOES NOT SELL tickets to itself, and doesn't have another source of revenue that makes it worthwhile anyway. Meaning you've got two choices. You can do it with the budget it's actually worth, maybe $75mil, which in today's money barely buys you an episode of a marvel TV show, which will be fucking garbage. Or you can lose $150mil on it for no fucking reason. Or you can just not do it. The correct answer is option 3.
>>220758745It means they made a tranny lovers show and all the normal people in the test screenings called it shit.
>>220757124She cute.Name?
>>220758341I bet all her poop comed out like jelly.
>>220757094I can't believe 2049 came out almost 10 years ago.
>>220757094No, it hasn't. You keep making this thread. Are you the same idiot that keeps posting 'Bill Murphy' died?
>>220757094Potential audience member here. Is this shit going to be some overly gay or minority or tranny pozzed goyslop which shits over the original movie? If so it's 100% incompatible with my viewing interests. I'll still review bomb it though, obviously.
>>220757124Why does he sit like that?
>>220757094Man let the 80's fucking go, Blade Runner wasn't even a successful film, it was a cult fucking movie, it was never meant to be franchise even the sequel didn't do well.
>>220759073No, it's bladerunner, it's not about the female. It's never about the female. It's >>220758932Stop blaming the tranny because your boring stale as fuck "bro" Ryan Gosling doesn't actually sell tickets.
Does the dude in the image play a character in the series? Then I can memoryhole it immediately
>>220757247Another way of saying the modern audience doesn't actually exist and they've finally realised it?
>>220757938What a terrible fucking cover.
>>220757189In the book Earth is dying and everyone who can is heading to the colonies. It's not directly related but as a real world example the Soviet Union underwent a period of stagnation after rapid technological advancement in the 50s and 60s
>>220761137>Earth is dyingthis jewish trope is so tiresome, i refuse to watch anything that features "muh earth dying". just fuck off with this.
>>220757247it's like what the main producer of the new colbert show said>we knew we didn't actually have an audience but that wasn't the point, we were trying to fund propaganda
>>220759768If it was anything to do with the performance of Gosling's movie then they never would have started production, retard. The tranny is the star of this thing, and it keeps getting kicked down the road.
>>220757094>incompatible audience goals.Ping smart anonsIs this new-speak for "our product sucks"?
>>220761285>colbert showFuck this black souled evil prick
>>220757094It's because they dont want the tranny
>>220757938Is this the one where the MC wants to get cybereyes that make everything look noir but his fixer convinces him to get the "normal" cybereyes?
>>220759768>it's not about the female>Hunter is the only face you see in everything talking about the showPut your little jew hat back on because you aren't fooling anyone.
>>220759664>No, it hasn't.Yes, it has.
>>220757094Are they just waiting for the pendulum swing when we all go back to treating trannies as if they are sacred?
>>220758745I love Meredith and I'm still pissed she wasn't in the DLC
>>220757189The Competency Crisis will be unevenly distributed.
>>220758932>tranny faggot with octagonal bolt on tits>eye candyIn what fucking reality?
>>220757094>Amazon series Blade Runner 2099Frankly, I never thought a cult classic standalone like Blade Runner would completely sell out and go the franchise route. That Villanova sequel was bad enough already.
>>220763285No stone will be left unturned in search of easy nostalgia dollars
>>220763124I think they're waiting until none of the board members inquire about the status of the "upcoming" Speedrunner 2099 so they can quietly shelve it.>delayed because of "post-covid">delayed because of writer's strike>delayed because of unforseen delays>delayed for unspecified reasons>>220763428I had completely forgotten that they remade The Day The Earth Stood Still until I read your post. Did anyone even see that?
>>220757247>>incompatible audience goalslmaooo, they know they would get lambasted if released today. Prob ruin the blade runner brand too
>>220757622>>220757552Internet was a blessing and curse the subculture as a whole.Blessing wise, it eliminated geographic locking where you were at the mercy of you location meaning rural folk had little to no scenes and got shit two to three years after city folks got it. And internet created new scenes not possible if you limited yourself to real life geography.Curse is that it eliminated gatekeeping, subcultures burn out or get co-opted if not straight up corrupted much faster, subcultures can be crushed a lot quicker if they threaten the status quo, and you have the mainstreaming of a lot of sick fuck shit that normally stayed underground due to it being illegal as fuck
>>220757124compared to 2017-19 this is grim
>>220765769Still aging better than most actresses.
>>220758341>They know putting a mentally ill man in the lead of a science fiction series based on a niche IP that bombed twice at the box office wasn't the best idea.A futuristic technodystopia is exactly the role a trans belongs in.
>>220757094>incompatible audience goalsThey just know now that the USA trannyism propaganda has stopped being shilled so much that nobody will watch it as SJWs have moved on to complain about something else
>>220758672>she
