Just watched Bugonia finally. Pretty great film, going in blind made it so much more enjoyable, but I about lost my fucking shit when Stavros showed up
>>
>>220763191
Fat
Not funny
>>
>>220763250
Pretty decent performance though, no?
>>
Whoever the director is did good shots and the slowness to fast pace at different times was well done. I say it's kino. She had a good performance. All main cast did
>>
>>220763380
Yorgos is a legitimately fantastic director. You should check out Dogtooth and Killing of a Sacred Deer.
>>
The ending ruined an otherwise good movie
>>
>>220763191
I don't know who this guy is and I assumed he must be Dennis Franz's son when I saw him.
>>
>>220763407
it was perfect. the best part is it couldve gone either way up to that ending.
>>
>>220763407
It was actually pure unfiltered fucking kino and those final shots with that song playing were amazing. That ending took balls
>>
>>220763267
he is perfectly suited to play a dumbass cop who molested some kid in the past
>>
>>220763407
so you wanted her not to be an alien? That would have made the movie so much more boring and predictable. then its just about two losers who kidnap a lady because of a made up conspiracy. that shit would have been disappointing as hell
>>
The autistic actor was surprisingly great, brutal ending to him though
>>
>>220763404
the favourite is also pretty good
>>
>>220763561
it should have ended with a flash of light in the closet. not a whole stupid retarded scene with other aliens
>>
>>220763191
How much longer is he going to live?
>>
ah yes iconic Stavros. I definitely know who that is
>>
>>220763630
so you wanted a soulless, ambiguous ending cop out? fuck that
>>
>>220763535
He naturally has molester energy, very believable
>>
>>220763694
The sick fuck was getting dopamine reliving what he did in chuds house
>>
>>220763647
probably will die in his 40's. hes been very fat since childhood, does drugs all the time and broke his arm recently. massive heart attack coming eventually
>>
>>220763191
i liked it more than i thought i would. from the previews it looked like she got brainwashed or whatever. the movie itself was alright, however i thought the twist ending where she really was an alien was both kinda hack and cheapened it. 6/10
>>
>>220763191
So, did he rape the Jesse Plemons character when they were younger? or was it just standard bullying. I couldn't tell what the movie was going for, and their conversations were weird as shit.
>>
>>220763660
hes a roundie, redditoid types seethed at the flat earth ending
>>
This is an English-speaking adaptation of a Korean propaganda movie.
>>
>>220764041
I didn't know that until after watching Bugonia. original movie probably sucks
>>
>>220763191
>I about lost my fucking shit when Stavros showed up
*Some random fat mutt in a movie.*
Americans: Holy shit, is that Stinkflap?!
>>
OG chink version mogs this greekslop
>>
>>220764105
It does. Very cheesy and far less well shot and acted. It's more the groundwork and inspiration to Bugonia than a remake

>>
>>220764155
They should have got the cinematographer from Rust.
Very well shot.
>>
>>220764105
Nah Bugonia is too pussy to actually torture Emma Stone.
>>
>>220763191
Is it better than the Korean original
>>
>>220763191
sorry for raping you bro
>>
>>220764289
Never saw anyone talking about it even in gook threads.
>>
>>220764183
original is funnier in a more slapstick way, more gruesome too with the torture scenes and the lead actor who's supposed to be the captured alien gives a better performance (I'm sorry best Emma).
Yorgos version gets it's humor more from dialogue, it's shot better and the kidnapper, Plemdawg, gives a better performance than his korean counterpart. He was snubbed at award season.
Both movies are 3/5 and this is the weakest of the Emma/Yorgos collabs.
>>
Good premise bad execution.
Everything is suddenly revealed and explained, nothing to think back on from earlier scenes.
>>
>>220764381
Agree. They also spent zero time endearing any of the characters to the audience. I had no reason to root for anyone. I know ambiguity was supposed to be the point, but I just didn’t care about anyone. The film lacked heart.
>>
>>220764460
The only innocent character in the entire film is Don and he is punished for it in every way
>>
>>220763910
He used to babysit Plemon’s character and the implication was that he did molest him
>>
>But the breakfast?
>>
>>220765221
When he gave Jesse Plemons character the thousand island stare, I thought of this.

Don’s death made me want to cry, it’s so hard for me to watch the disabled suffer, it fucks me up. Everything leading up in those final 2 minutes made my gut churn, that poor fucking boy, his brother definitely made him chop up all those people too, fuck it is the most upsetting shit.

Feels like it shouldn’t have been Nick getting shafted, but hey, it’s harder to sink much lower than shitting yourself and being yelled at like a dog, so hey, good for Adam. Good on Stav. Hopefully one of these days Nick finds a sugardaddy or something.
>>
>>220767135
Not a fan of cumtown, but any time I've listened to clips it's always Nick talking the jewish guy making some monotone banal observation and the fat guy annoyingly laughing, constantly annoyingly laughing. I've see his standup, it's not funny. ...so why is he famous?

I thought the end was obvious because it's 2026 and I understand the cultural zeitgeist, how dumb your average movie goer is and the slop your average studio makes. People would not be able to handle a "he really was insane the entire time" non ambiguous ending

How did Plemons not get the Oscar for this performance?
>>
>>220767255
Damn that some hard damage control there buddy.

Stavvy shitting on Rogan every week, while doing the exact same podslop as everybody else, is pretty fucking gay. He just openly and unconditionally panders to extreme leftist idelogy, might as well be fucking Colbert with the fucking Vaxx dance.
And the bug is jewish, and is propped up by other jews.
That being said, they both get the crumbling leftovers of old media, as sloppy seconds, as a "career".

Unles you want to s o y pog with Niel Degayass Tidepod, about hecking science of course. That's very cool. Very cool and Reddit.

Nick was the only talent in that trashheap, and pretty much ran out of material once he got sober. You can't play the angry young man anyomre, when you're rich, and not angry nor young. He bailed like Joji, and didn't crawl on his knees to do unconditional fag and nigger propaganda like bug and fatty, because his main appeal was in holding far less hostages, and very boldly calling out double standards.

Movie sucked total ass was tonally all over the place, is it horror? Comedy? Sci-fi? Political? It never settled on anything and completely failed at balancing horror and comedy. The acting is fine and the cinematography is good, aesthetics are there but the tone being so mishandled makes it dogshit and the crazy out of place score definitely made it feel even more inconsistent. 2/5

Yeah, if Yorgos and Tracy think that the aliens are right in the end, they are too detached from real life. I get the sense that they think the ending is a happy one though.

I saw so much humanity in Teddy, even when he was at his darkest, and I think it is all due to Plemons giving a god tier performance. Plemons is the reason I love this movie.
>>
I do think it is interesting that both Teddy and Don essentially kill themselves after being allowed onto the alien ship. I don't know what it means, but it means something.

>>
>>220772309
NTA, but I knew who Stavros is because I'd listened to a handful of cumtown episodes on youtube (I found them because I was watching a lot of people who dunked on Steven Seagal) , but I don't follow his or anyone else's career from that show. I had no idea he was going to be in Bugonia until I was watching it and he popped up on screen.

>meth damon has become one of the better modern actors
I seem to be in the minority of people who are unimpressed with his acting. He always seems like he's just reciting lines...I never get the impression that he's embodying any sort of character. Maybe that's because he tends to play emotionally detached psychos, but I've just never seen a performance that I thought was particularly noteworthy.
>>
>>220767196
I cheered when he offed himself, maybe you should do the same
>>
>>220768671
>Stavros has absolutely broken into the mainstream
Not really. He's more notable now than he was when he was only known for being on cumtown and for doing standup nobody saw in NYC, but knowing him by name is still going to be a niche thing. Your mom isn't going to know who Stavros Halkias is by name, nor will the majority of random people you stop on the street. He's at the level of most bit part actors where in a few years people might think "isn't that the fat cop from Bugonia?"

It's like Octavia Spencer before she was a main character on The Help. She was a featured extra in tons of movies so people would think, "isn't that the lady who told Peter Parker he was going to get his ass kicked trying to wrestle Macho Man Randy Savage?...and wasn't she the chick who showed John Cusack how to find the 7 1/2 floor on Being John Malkovich" but if you talked about the new film Octavia Spencer was going to be in, nobody would have any fucking idea who you were talking about. They may not remember even if you pointed out the small part she played in a film they actually saw.
