I watched "Cry Wolf" (2005). The one with Bon Jovi.

Yeah, right. It was a solid 5/10 - meh. I'm not even sure it counts as horror, as there is no slasher, in the end it's just a bitch that murdered a rival and her teacher.

I found it OK at first. The campus cops not believing there was a murderer when kids had been lying about that before. But the plot took so many turns in the end that it got tiresome, you just knew any "real threat" would turn out to have been faked again and again.

I feel it would have been OK as a 42 minute TV episode of some show or something.
>>
>>220766845
It seemed to be doing this Heathers thing with Diablo Cody-esque dialogue, like it was setting out to be a cult classic instead of a genuine attempt to make something good. I suppose it resulted in something... offbeat?

>I made a Psycho 2 black and white edit a while back. Tweaked the contrast a bit and so on and it's so much better. Color makes it too stylistically removed from the original.
2 already starts in black and white and then becomes color, symbolically showing that it's a new era for Norman and he is removed from his past. It isn't meant to be the same style as the first movie.

It wasn't very good. Even if I like a bunch of the actors I just have this seething contempt for like SNL/Lonely Island that kinda stuff. In my defense I didn't know it was by one of them going in.

Not sure what to watch now. Thinking about starting the new season of The Terror. Some anon here said it was solid horror.

I watched "Night of the Demons" (1988) last night. It might be a classic, but I would give it a 4/10 at most. Right from the beginning it's clear who the final girl will be and who's going to die. Was there even a script? I mean more than "a group of teenagers party in a possessed abandoned funeral home and then the scream queen gets chased around by her demon possessed friends"? And by "chased around" I mean they don't do it like they actually want to catch her. There's brilliant moments like the demon approaches, Judy sits down, "Judy, get up!", "I can't!", "Come on, Judy, get up!", "I can't", Judy gets physically lifted up and then runs.

Little surprises: I didn't figure the token black guy would make it to the end. I also wouldn't have thought Helen would die first, as she was one of the only 3 who wasn't a total asshole.

With a bigger budget and an actual director the story has potential not to be lame.
Not like: Girl stands face to face with the demon, the demon growls, the girl screams, the girl runs away, the demon very slowly walks after her, this happens two dozen times.
I mean for the audience it should at least feel like the demons could actually catch the victim. Not them standing around and patiently waiting while they first scream and then turn around and run away.

They do, they evolved to like them. What you're falling for is a Jewish psyop to lower the native population. So they can import 3rd world natives, that will work for 10 hours a day, 7 days a week for minimum wage and be thankful for it.

If you have a decadent workforce, you create a situation to allow you to import one that isn't.

Just finished. (A Rat in the Darkness)
I decided to see what else i could find from the director of Herencia Diabolica and ended up with this. Man, NOTHING happens in this, and I loved it anyway. Two sisters buy a mansion and begin to suspect it's haunted. It shakes, the younger of the two has dreams of some lady creeping around and coming on to her, and a cute rat is always skulking around. Turns out it's haunted by a tranny!. All I really want out of a movie is cliche horror imagery and women who take their clothes off frequently, and I walked away from this very happy. Watch out, like I said, this is uneventful as fuck and will bore most people.

Yeah, I'd go for the 20th century one too. I've seen them all and I didn't appreciate Final Destination, It Follows or Hereditary. Weapons was a slow burn but OK, but I only saw it last year. Anyway, have fun.

I just finished "Night of the Demons 2" (1994), and you guys were right, it was a better movie than the first one. Even the director of the first "Night of the Demons" (1988) said so. It had a proper script and real actors. It was actually fun to watch.

I thought setting up Perry as a demonology expert would pay off by him knowing some spells and incantations against demons. Something clever could have been done with this. But no, in the end he just uses a supersoaker filled with holy water.

I'm watching that right now and I'm 10 minutes into it. It seems to be an ultra low budget production like the first one. They don't even have use of the house from parts 1 and 2. And apparently Amelia Kinkade reprises her role as Angela even though she's now visibly a decade older.

All these piece of shit pseudo horror itch.io movies getting 10/10 across the board like they're Marvelslop is something I did not see coming but on the other hand it's perfectly logical. We have entered the penguiz0plier era of cinema. In a sense you have to give it up to Kojima. His piece of shit tech demo before Konami kicked him out birthed an endless barrage of purest slop, now decked in UE5 aesthetic. Roguelite walking simulators are the new horror movies.
>>
>>220792567
It's deeply disturbing to have gratuitous mutilation of a person and still have her wear her underwear. Reminds me of a Twitch shill called Cohhcarnage who vehemently praises every piece of corpo slop, zooms in every piece of gore he can find and gloats on his extremely sanitized family friendly streams, and I still remember how he turned off Disco Elysium when Measurehead started speaking. Personally, I call it HR tech aesthetic, because they convey the most gruesome messages while pretending they're clean.

Just watched Wishmaster (1997) and it was awesome. Sam Raimi cameo getting squished by a box and some surprisingly good effects and inventive kills. The Djinn feels truly evil and unstoppable.
Currently watching the second and it's...shit. Now the Djinn is more like a creepy autist and they've got some cringe born again christian prophecy storyline going. The effects are mostly just quick cuts and distortions and people having a seizure. But hey it's the guy from The Raven tv show...

I've said it before but the series declines as they make the wish deaths nonsensical. But the end of it the wish master is just like, oh you said you're hungry? you're now being eaten by a tiger!

Just finished. Femcel-ish clown has a terrible job and a disinterested husband and disapproving, insulting mother. She decides to make something of herself by going on a killing spree Halloween night. Pretty funny idea that her plan is to lock herself in the local haunted house attraction and kill all the performers, lol. Microbudget and amateurish, really not very entertaining, but the lead girl is game. Tonally inconsistent, she goes from sad sack to PSYCHO with no real explanation. Like she's unfulfilled at work and out of nowhere that turns into eating maggots out of her husband's corpse and masturbating with the blood from her mother's gunshot wounds. Not worth watching unless you've got a dedicated clown fetish.

Unlike with Weapons and Sinners from last year pseuds can't just pretend Obsession is more of le thriller without exposing their own idiocy even to the most die hard of genre "purists", but I'm sure if you really want to believe it's a psychological thriller you'll find some way to convince yourself. After all, there are people out there who want to believe something like The Conjuring isn't a horror movie simply because they enjoyed it too much so horror/thriller is whatever you want it to be in the end.

NEW LIFE:

A woman (Hayley Erin) with a mysterious disease flees toward the Canadian border, pursued by a government agent with her own disease (ALS) played by Sonya Walger. I knew this would be a zombie-ish movie going into it, but they don’t do the big reveal until about the halfway point. The pacing will divide people, as the first half is very slow. Personally I wasn’t bothered by it so I tend toward a 6.5, but otherwise if that’s a sticking point for you expect more of a 5.5 or 6. Completely watchable and doesn’t overstay its welcome at a 85min runtime, however I do believe this could’ve actually benefited from a longer runtime and revised pacing.

Good morning /hor/! Daily reminder that Hollywood owes me reparations for A Streetcar Named Desire and I would like them in the form of Longlegs-esque and The-Empty-Man-esque (my two favorite kinos) horror kinos with a Christian, Catholic, conservative moral at their core. I would like them to align with/inform my crypto-fascist worldview and speak to my huwhite middle class/upper middle class sensibilities/anxieties, but I don’t want them campy like kinos from Angel Studios or overly obvious, like the recent Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie. Also, I’d like my favorite actors/actresses to be turned into A-listers/cult heroes:
