I watch this shit tomorrow with brother in law. Ive watched some of the directors videos on youtube, 3 parts, 2 were 15 minutes long, the other was 45 minutes long and honestly the most traumatic parts are the sounds, they sound demonic, just like pretty much all A24s releases. Maybe this is a different film.

Both my local Cinemark and AMC were only going to have like 3 showings per day but they all sold out in pre-sales. They finally added more today because of the hype. Ended up switching to a different showtime for a better seat.

>Incredibly immersive production design, especially the massive Backrooms set and unsettling architectural details. Strong atmosphere and dread, helped by anxious found-footage-style camerawork and eerie 1990s aesthetics. But the story loses some coherence in the back half, especially once Mary takes over more of the narrative. Renate Reinsve feels slightly miscast, despite her talent. The movie doesn't fully live up to the hype, ending with more disorienting confusion than satisfying impact.

>Would you go back in there again if you found a place like that?
If I thought there was something about the place worth studying or learning more about, while not fully considering all of the possibilities like the main character in the movie, then maybe. Knowing how this sort of thing goes in the series, though, I'd just nope out of wherever that dimensional rift was forming and move as far away as possible. I could tell people about it, they'd laugh, and maybe years later, when my old house becomes a national headline for a string of mysterious disappearances all happening inside of it, they'll probably think I'm some kind of genius mass-murderer who somehow booby trapped my house to kill dozens of people, at least until someone gets the bright idea to film the inside of it... wait, I think that's pretty much the plot to House of Leaves.
>>
>>220799977
>You didn't watch the trailer? That goes away at some point.
Wrong. The shot of Clark tapping against the wall he slipped through was during his first exploration and before thought of marking the null zone on both sides with blue tape.

I saw it. Is passable, but kinda dumb. Basically Clark finds a two way portal into and out of the Backrooms. Since Clark is already mentally fucked in the head, he snaps and goes psycho killer. Gives me the Shining vibes. He starts bringing white people he knows into the backrooms so that he can get them killed. He tells his psychologist about the backrooms and wants to lure her in. Eventually he goes missing, and she for what ever reason goes looking for him. She eventually finds him and falls into his trap to kill her. The main monster ends up attacking Clark and killing him.

To add more details.
Clark is a drunk and his wife leaves him. He also has a failing furniture store. He finds the portal to the backrooms in his store. He tells Mary about it, but she thinks hes out of his mind. He then brings others into the backrooms complex and gets them killed. Mary doesn't hear from him and visits his store to find where hes at. She ends up finding the portal and gets lost inside looking for him.

I don't get why people shit on him so much for this. He's a Youtuber, he made a mid horror movie. I'd count that as a roaring success, because the expectation is fucking nothing. Most critics never attempt anything creative, because they suck (those who can't do teach or whatever). When they try it's fucking drivel (Kickassia, RLMs entire output), ideally "it was bad on purpose" so they don't have to live with the shame of having put their best efforts on film.

That's the par. It's "The Incredible Bulk" and "Zaat" you should be comparing it to. Countless "walking aimlessly in the woods" horror movies.
>>
>>220801572
Oh let me add that if he should be ripped on, it's his terrible movie taste and having become even more spineless after making his movie (presumably driven by fear of losing that amazing foot in the door at Hollywood he imagines he's got).

Clark is an asshole. The plot is a mess. Ending makes no sense. I guess the Complex makes copies of people that enter it or some shit now? Really misses what liminal space exploration should be and instead focuses on needless story, exposition and too many characters.

Thr main monster is basically a distorted copy of Clark, but then Clark himself is also a psycho killer and beheads one of the girls he lures into the complex. His own copy kills him. Seems pointless to have a human be the villain, while also making a separate monster that is just that human.

Not sure about the YT series characters, but theres a scientist named Phil. The Backrooms is basically his mind and his nostalgia. He sees Clark and Mary on the TV commercials and creates versions of them in the Complex. In my opinion, making the backrooms a single guys mind is the stupidest ass pull and ruins and hope for an agreed upon canon

Phil isn't Ivan Beck and The Complex isn't the product of anyone's minds, it just takes things from the world and fucks them up.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but it feels like Phil is Ivan Beck. Clark's still life is very clearly based on the pirate commercial version of himself. And Mary being a great communicator on TV made her appealing to someone watching her commercial. Kane's storyline for the backrooms is too forced anyways and doesn't need to be explained.

Blackedrooms isn't really scary. It's just weird and is about wanting to go in and explore the space and understand it. Being trapped in some infinite space and maybe there being monsters in there would be unsettling if you were actually stuck there, but as a viewer you just want to know what's in there.
The horror label is pretty limited. This does fall into the horror category but it's not scary. There is no name for this, the closest would be a mystery but that doesn't feel like the right label either. Maybe there should be a new label like ''horror mystery.''

Finally got to see it. Was it good? Not really. The visuals were neat but the movie has no idea what it wants to be. It tries to do liminal mystery, but also wants to be a traditional horror film featuring decapitated heads, neck gross out shit. It spends way to much time with human characters who can't act to save their life and even the monsters are just human actors. The ending is one of the worst I've seen in a long time, and ends abrutly.

All it had to do was give one human a camera and then film a found footage style movie. They can't even do found footage and would rather focus on human character's life and backstories, rather than the backrooms. Then they expect you to care about the main character when he turns out to be evil. Hell they dont even call it the backrooms, its just "The complex."

thanks. i was not expecting to see it so i am ok with reading spoilers. we live in strange times where hollywood got bullied by will smith into having blakc people in movies no matter what, i feel, and it's not organic, throws me off. just because of that i will skip this one, and others like that until things get back to normal or they get artful at it. does it makes me a racist, for not liking artless corporate forced diversity? i dont even care, but i won't have this conversation irl tho

Here is the synopsis:

>Clark (Chiwetel Ejiofor) is a divorced, alcoholic failed architect who now owns a failing furniture store, and finds a portal to a Backrooms level called “the complex” in the store’s basement.
>Clarke manages to sketch a map of the complex, which he shows to his therapist Mary (Renate Reinsve), but she doesn’t believe him.
>Clark recruits his employees Bobby (Finn Bennett) and Kat (Lukita Maxwell) to go into the complex with him to get video proof.
>They find a hole in the ground and Clark lowers Bobby into it with a rope around his waist. A creature attacks Bobby in the dark and Clark and Kat are unable to pull him up.
>Clark disappears, and Mary goes to the store to look for him. She finds the portal and goes into the complex, where she finds people fused to the walls and furniture.
>Mary finds Clark, who snapped and wants to stay in the complex forever to escape his shitty life. He killed Kat because she wanted to leave and warn people, and prepares to kill Mary as well.
>Mary flees, Clark chases her, and they encounter the creature that killed Bobby, a monstrous version of Clark’s pirate-themed store mascot, Captain Clark. It bites Clark’s and drags him away to his death.
>Mary is rescued by scientists in hazmat suits and taken to a military lab. A scientist, Phil (Mark Duplass), explains that the government has been studying the Backrooms for years and has been unable to figure out what it is, only that it is infinite, comprised of multiple layers, and inhabited by monsters.
>After interrogating Mary and determining she is a loner with no immediate family who will come looking for her, Phil puts Mary back into the complex both to keep her quiet and to monitor her as she attempts to navigates it.
>The implication is that the mutated people Mary encountered where others the government did this to, and she will ultimately become one of them as well.

none of the last couple of paragraph happens

clark had a mental breakdown in the backroom after choking the psychiatrist out and strap her at a dinner table like texas chainsaw massacre, then have once again a therapy session where the foid actually come clean and say its clark fault and he blames the world instead of himself,he agree of letting her go but the monster whos just a copy of clark in pirate costume bite him to death

she stumble upon the hazmat suit who save her and explain how the backrooms works, it keep creating version of things in the real world but fucked and it create a copy of Mary

forgive the awfull English but that how the movie goes it left ambiguity the fate of mary

i dont know for sure for specific films but i observe a general trend, where sometimes it feels like an odd choice. like when a women went tru some traumatic breakup with a white man , he died or he was toxic or went missing or wahtever and she finally want to live her life again so to symbolize this turning the page she fucks a black guy... many such cases in the hollywood movies. anyway so now i just take a blanket approach for some times, i dont expect missing out on much but if i am wrong for some films i can always watch them later on

Just watched it. Was kind of shocked at how quickly things went bad when Clark and his employees started to investigate the unexplored area. The way the Clark monster slinked back into that horizontal door didn't seem to match up with how mobile it actually was. It almost looked like a tail or something slithered up into the door but the monster didn't have that when fully viewed. Not really sure why Kat was seemingly looking at Clark through glass in that one scene but to Clark it was a wall? I don't recall there ever being any notion of people experiencing different "realities" if you will while they're in there, but I guess it could be something new he sprinkled in there? I know there's a scene in one of the Youtube episodes where the cameraman talks to a guy in his home through a wall, but they both saw a wall, and that ended up being a portal into the backrooms for the guy in his home with him falling in. I liked the music sometimes being retreads of his audio from earlier episodes. That shit just gives off such a nice vibe for me. Was hoping they would go more into Async during the movie, but I guess now that more people may have their eyes on KanePixels stuff, he may start delving deeper into that with his upcoming episodes. I liked it.

>>220809754
I am probably a little resentful, but it is just because filmmaking just requires a lot of money and connections. That is the simple truth. Kane is good, but he isn't so good that I think you should fawn all over him being 20 years old and live through him. I just think people need some perspective. People buy into the PR machine hook line and sinker, because if they didn't, they might wonder why they don't get the same opportunities. A lot of money goes into making Joes feel like these celebrities 'are just like me' and 'This guy would have a beer with me and we would have a good time', and 'this guy represents people from my generation'. When you get confused over people acting parasocial, these are the thoughts running through their heads. Don't give into hero worship.

Just got back from seeing it. I liked it but it felt like too big of a chunk of the middle of the moving was missing. We go from Clark and the younger girl failing to escape an unseen monster after being chased, presumably this was Cpt Clarke but it may have been an earlier entity.

Then the movie jumps to Mary narrative weeks later, we find out Clark survived but is unhinged, the other girl got decapitated but we don't know how or whether it was OG Clark or Cpt Clark.

My headcanon is that the degraded memory versions the Backrooms makes of you partially sync up minds with you if you're in the Backrooms at the same time as the degraded memory versions.

The Cpt Clark entity was ok, really didn't mind it because they showed as little of him as possible. The other degraded copies they introduced all looked like low budget Mirrormask photoshop freakshow people, I thought they were the weakest aspect of the movie.

The Backrooms themselves as a setting/aesthetic were perfectly on point and whatever music they used right when Mary was about to cross the taped threshhold was peak. Overall though the movie does kind of meander and feel too artsy to grab actual mainstream appeal. You could def cut it down to a tighter edit and bring it from C+ to A- though in my opinion
>>
>>220810109
it is pretty obvious that isn't the real Mary but a copy. Something about how the backrooms copies what is being forgotten. because she's being held captive by the agency studying the place, she's becoming part of it as she's gone missing.

>>
>>220814480
I think there's just too much of a disconnect in the middle part of the movie. Rather than a third act it felt like we got a first and partial second act for Clark and then ??? and now we're on a first act for Mary that races towards a kinda flat finish

Spoilers ahead. I watched it and I think the bar is so low with horror movies now that I can see how this ends up looking way better than most stuff coming out. I thought it was pretty decent honestly. The giant pirate chomping on the shoulder was a complete "what the hell am I even looking at" moment for me lol. And the whole "used to make MRI's" definitely felt like they knew way more about the place. Also the fact that the shrink ended up becoming one of the "fragmented", I guess you can call them that, near the end(literally last scene) was fucked. "It's not up to me if I can let you go". Feels like they left room for a sequel. I need more answers. I watched a youtube video on it and some guy said that its basically a mirror of ones self in a negative way. It felt dreamlike wherever they were.

Nigger, fear makes women horny. By scaring women, they are more likely to put out. Misogyny is THE KEY to sex, unironically. It's why the 'player'mindset is always destroyed by feminists in one place only for it to independently arise somewhere else. It's so innately correct and women really are subject to simple biological determinism to such an extent, that that these ideas always return like a giant game of sexist wack-a-mole as different guys in different places all figure it out.

Here’s what I took of those mannequins, but I obviously think it’s meant to be your own interpretation.

I think it’s two things mixed into one. First, it’s people that were in the backrooms before.

Secondly, it’s mentioned in the ASYNC interview at the end that they used to make MRI machines before doing work in the backrooms. Since it’s very clear the whole backrooms works itself based on experiences and memories, I.E. the brain, I think that the mannequins are people that were in the backrooms and currently trapped in there.

As for why the woman sprung to life, I’m still trying to wrap my head around that. It’s one of my biggest issues with the movie. The one thing holding it back for me was its open-endedness. I’m not the person who needs all concrete rules explained to me, but I feel like if you rely on it too much, the film ends up feeling like you’re making it all up as you go along. Especially with the living mannequins and the ASYNC interview at the end. You can easily come up with your own interpretation, but it plays around with everything that we know, so it comes across as even more abstract than it should be.

Just saw it, it never goes away and he can leave at any time. He goes crazy and decides to live there until he gets eaten by a distorted doppelganger of himself in a Pirate costume.

Some neat visuals. I liked the shot of the duplicate of Mary's childhood home where the camera kept panning down to reveal more and more stripped down versions of it until it was just a blank yellow room. The final shot of her doppelganger sitting in the rooms looked pretty cool as well. overall though it was pretty mid. As should come as no surprise the characters and script are the weakest part and exist solely to wander around a somewhat interesting looking setting. Never really felt any tension.

Just watched it. Overall 8/10. It has a story and the extra bits they added were creative and interesting. I enjoyed the new lore.

Unfortunately, the film is really violent. I do not enjoy watching women get pulled apart and eaten. The entire subplot is misogyny and the main character's intense, overwhelming hatred of women because of his ex wife. So, it's really hard to recommend the film with such intense themes. Pepe is in the movie and pepe literally chews that bitch up and shits her out. The entire film is basically this gif.

I just enjoy the idea of edible backrooms puppets. It just feels right. It's appropriate for the setting. Fake doll people in a fake world. They're all made out of some sort of foam-like material, they do not bleed, and they have no thoughts or emotions. Basically zombies. Degraded versions of what's real. It's like there's "real" fakes running around somewhere, kind of like Invasion of the Pod People.

I also watched this in the most appropriate location, the real world backrooms at southland mall. I don't know how that place is not abandoned yet.

Just came back from seeing the movie.

It's a definite 7/10.

My favorite part of the movie was when the black guy was running from the monster and roaming around the place. It felt like what a backrooms movie should have been. I didn't like how the white dude got killed so early. Or how Clark became crazy so fast. I think it would have been more productive if the film tried to carry that energy onto the second half of the flick before rushing everything along to the end. Like, Clark should have been Act 1 and the couple act 2 while the therapist comes in for act 3 and wraps it up. That would have made for a thrilling ride through the backrooms. Oh and the movie is about trauma not about toxic masculinity, but I know magazine rags and video essayists will miss the point which is spelled out at the ending montage. The therapist was wrong to tell clark he couldn't change.

Impressive for a first film. Far better than Chris Stuckmann LOL.

I think the big problem with Clark going cuckoo bananas is that there's an implied timeskip but we're not really clued in to how long. If they said he'd been there for a few weeks or whatever it'd come off better
>>
>>220814480
to me the part where clark brings his employees was the best part and the film didn't reach that peak again.
the mixture of brutality, mystery, tension and sacres were great.
once you find up it's a literal allegory to his subconscious mind, even the monster, it loses the mystery and creepyness and all.
It was clear from the beginning that the movie will touch on that psycological subjects but it was too on the nose
>>
>>220793168
Lol ive taksn so many whores to horror movies, its such an easy pairing
>>
>>220816689
There is no definitive shared lore to the Backrooms beyond the basic premise of "there's a parallel dimension you can fall into and it looks like an abandoned building". The webseries the director made has its own story and specific "lore" that it follows but the movie barely acknowledges any of it.

>Bruh did you see the Backrooms(tm) that movie had sick POW, I went temp just from watching it, for real man you better elder sign yourself before going in

how did clark leave a message on mary's answering machine? He didn't take a phone with him and we don't see one in his stuffing person goon cave. Also what was with the cardboard cutouts? I think they mark places where ASYNC employees operate but no idea what the message they're broadcasting means
>>
>>220793406
When I saw Iron Lung probably ~60% of the people there were late teens/early 20s alt girls and it made me want to Gosling.
>>
>>220816897
It was a cardboard cutout of Jesus. The message that was playing was basically a common greetings in every language. Async was using those as a way to lure in creatures(Copies in the movie) in order to conduct visual research. That's why they were usually in areas monitored by a camera. A similar thing was done in one of the youtube episodes.
>>
>>220816897
they help them monitor the monster/people roaming inside
>>
>>220816740
>>220816757

I don’t think there was a time skip, I think he died or something and became possessed or a part of the backrooms after he set the camera down in that pool room. I think it would have made more sense if the movie followed what actually happened to him in there, or if he just died like his two employees. I agree that the tension and atmosphere was completely ruined when the entities were introduced as his friends, and he was just sitting having a conversation with the therapist lady.
>>
>>220792021
Funny enough, this is the same way the main character feels. He loves it in the backrooms and plans to stay there permanently but then a giant pirate eats him.
>>
>>220816979
preety sure capy didn't kill after he picked up the camera
It hink he killed him after the session because the shrink made clark change his perspective, so capy didn't see him as himself anymore

I do find it weird that that has become some Gen Z beating of the chest. I liked Kane's videos before they were cool, and now it feels like a weird thing I don't want to be a part of. I guess as a zillennial, I don't really identify with millennials or Gen Z.
>>
>>220817227
Doesnt the concept of backrooms date back to liminal space scene which is firmly millennial coded?
>>
>>220817302
Yeah, analog is liminal adjacent, and that is millennial. I don't know why it has become a generation war thing.
>>
why did they cast a middle aged black guy for the protag?
i won't be watching it.
>>
>>220816979
Kane's backrooms have a mentally degrading effect on people. Clark was already on the brink before going in and this just pushed him over the edge.
>>

10-12 years ago there were 4chan anons posting on twitter about abandoned malls. also various horror games have scary empty rooms where zombies pop out at you. empty rooms have always been somewhat scary if you've played enough games or watched enough movies where something was wrong and a sinister twist was around the corner. even goldeneye N64 from the late 90s had moments like that.
that's what i remember.

backrooms is definitely ripped off of that /x/ guy's post about specifically yellow rooms that stretch on and on.
>>
>>220804797
>Then they expect you to care about the main character when he turns out to be evil.
They make it pretty clear early on that he's not a good person, that he's got anger issue, that he's a drunk, that he is a wife abuser, and so on. You can even see from his architectural drawings that he's a shitty architect too. They literally spell it out for you that he's miserable because he's a piece of shit who externalizes all of his problems.

>Hell they dont even call it the backrooms, its just "The complex."
I don't think they even call it that, and I rather like that detail. Why the fuck would they call it the backrooms? It's like a malignant alternate reality intersecting with our world at random points. They don't know what it is or why it does what it does. They explicitly only explore it because they are desperately trying to make sense of it because it keeps swallowing up people and spitting out monsters.
>>
I liked it, but Skinamarink was better. It is still the best take I have seen on the liminal concept.
>>
>>220808549
>because I feel like I could do at least as good if given the same resources and connections that he has.
Then do it, faggot. Download blender and start making short films like Kane did, which is how he actually got his start with no resources and no connections because he was a teenager.
>>
I missed the opening of the film. I got in the theater right when Clark enters the backrooms for the first time. Can I get a QRD on everything I missed?
>>
>>220816320
Clark is already crazy by the time he enters the backrooms. It's why he goes back. It's why he doesn't call for help. He enjoys the backrooms. The backrooms is him. It's his home. It's a world he has no pressure or expectation within. It's everything he wanted.

A brief FF style scene of an A Sync character exploring the backrooms solo, gets chased byban unseen monster, dies. Then just character setup stuff, Clark going to therapy, fragments of Mary's childhood. An electrician visits the store because the power bills are through the roof and the lights are acting weird, checks the breaker box and there are weird switches on it that don't seen connected to anything.
>>
>>220801877
The company shit and the stupid squiggle monster are the worst part of the youtube videos though. Random nobodies exploring is the good part.

>but clark decided to stay and he told pirate clark that but got chomped anyway. makes no fuckin sense
It's probably because he thought he could reason with a place that is fundamentally unreasonable and alien. The actually confusing part is that Captain Clark was non-violent towards him and seemingly leading him deeper in, which somehow led to Clark becoming familiarized with a large portion of the Backrooms, which were already changing its layout, and he somehow became able to track down Mary and then knock her out long enough to drag her deep, deep, deep into the place. And only after that does Captain Clark snap and decide to brutally murder him on the spot.

NTA, but also, the chunk of rock the therapist is always staring is a handprint she put in the cement with her mom. You see the flashback of them pressing their hands into the wet cement before a crane dumps a load of debris over them, snapping her out of her memory and showing that in the present day, her childhood house is being demolished and she's still not over it.

I think the next scene is Clark driving up to work, listening to the audio books from his therapist. Someone spray-painted "RIP OFF" on his store window.

The roleplay scene from the ending is a callback to an opening scene where Clark and Mary are doing therapy and she asks him to go over the night his wife kicked him out of the house. Then we get the stuff with the electrician and the weird extra switches on the fusebox.

There's also a scene where he's trying to record a commercial in that terrible pirate costume with a poorly strapped on peg leg where he's awkwardly hobbling around on the crutch (which we see a copy of on the floor in the backrooms later). The commercial is terrible and has a confusing pirate theme while he talks about sultans and kingdoms. His employees, the chick and the white dude, comment about how it's confusing.

We see that Clark is living in his store and the power is fucking up, which leads to him discovering the entrance to the backrooms after he switches everything off in a fit of rage and sees the glimmer of light in the wall.

This was boring as hell, people will collectively say it's good while nitpicking everything about it because (it actually sucks). It's not good, don't waste your time. Considering how the monstsrs are perverted copies of humans, I thought it was supposed to be ironic for Clark that he gets eaten by his pirate duplicate because he was eating the carpet people himself
>>
>>220817998
I feel like we were missing some kind of clue. Like maybe Captain was angry that he brought someone into his "home" or that she was too much like his wife, which Clark is still assblasted about. Or that Captain knew something about Clark had changed because both him and Mary were finally fully honest with each other about their problems and their behavior. Or even just something like the Captain being a violent reflection of Clark's outbursts, so that was just always going to happen sooner or later.

At any rate, I feel like we needed like 2 more minutes of something to clarify that bit. Monsters gonna monster, so that's whatever. But how things got that way to the point that Clark believed he could reason with and communicate with his monster doppleganger needed clarification.

Coming from someone who has no knowledge of any Backrooms lore or KP's previous work I really enjoyed it. I could honestly watch Clark wander around the Backrooms for another three hours just seeing random shit, it was calming. Loved the camcorder FPS stuff. It wasn't scary.
>>
Just came back from the screening. As a big fan of Kane’s webseries, and his other projects like The Oldest View and People Lived There, i feel like this film is the perfect example of studio interference ruining a potentially great film.
i get this is being treated as essentially a spin-off of the webseries, but using ASYNC when theyre never explained well to the audience nor diving into the noclipping was so fucking retarded. Also changing the monster away from the fungus/moss things was a massive mistake and it dragged the last quarter of the movie so much. The ending was also fucking mid. It feels like a watered down The Backrooms and im just left thinking that i would have rather it be its own thing and not have any references to the webseries if its going to half-ass the lore. Given the projected gross, i hope the success leads to Kane being given full creative control for future features but i hope he goes the Robert Eggers route and dips from A24 ASAP because theyre clearly trying to meddle like Miramax did in its latter years with Gangs of New York
>>
>>220817597
Yeah, I think you are right. I just need to accept it.
>>
>>220818096
Lying that it sucked? You are mentally ill and retarded. Nothing happens in the whole film, it's bad. Nothing is ever explained because the director isn't capable of writing a story.
>>
>>220818397
I got the vibe that Kane was in way over his head, he had no idea what to do with the story or create a story in the first place. The script is weak and the dialogue is pretty bad. He is capable of making a good film or at least directing one, but he needs a script writer.

Kane didnt right the film, some guy who was a writer on Ash vs The Evil Dead has the only writing credit. Kane simply directed when they should have allowed him to write considering Kane actually knows how to end on suspense with stuff like FF3 and Oldest View. The writer should never get a job again and Kane should not let Hollywood touch The Backrooms ever again.
>>
>>220818512
Thats the funny thing, he didnt write the script. Some guy named Will Soodik did. Kane only directed and lended some music. He clearly wasnt allowed to have full reign on the production.

Lying that nothing happens, that there's no story progression, that there's any kind of twist.

Fuck off you desperate retard.
>>

Under the Silver Lake is just such a bunch of nonsensical horseshit its comical. That scene has no meaning and no consequences it's just a stupid idea the director had, made it happen, filmed it and then the movie moves on.
>>
>>220818397
>Also changing the monster away from the fungus/moss things was a massive mistake and it dragged the last quarter of the movie so much.

I thought the black monster in the first two acts was the Bacteria lifeform thing? While the entities in the third act was the Still Life monster type that was introduced in Found Footage 3?

black guy literal is unable to move on in his life, nothing is resolved, he eats a styofoam copy of someone, about 40 minutes of a character or character walking around empty hallways, yes I would say almost nothing happens, it's boring. Async opened the portal that glitched reality in October 1989 where portals (null zones) started randomly appearing.

The latest clip in the series at Kane's youtube channel "Static Dead End" where they explore the room beyond the pitfalls area is set in May 29 1990.

Also in the movie we see that the motion cameras in the Backrooms pick up Clark roaming around on June 29 1990.

The pirate seemingly being chill with Clark at random was weird but i guess from the way he talked about the therapist leaving he was enraged at the idea that he was going to let her go or whatever, i'm more confused as to why the copy of his wife was initially aggressive when he first sees her but when he snaps she's passive and only responds to the pirate showing up
>>
It's like the first part of the movie somewhat tries to remain accurate to the general concept of the eeriness of the backrooms being the uncanny feeling of the empty office space or whatever but then they said "wait a minute, this is fucking boring as shit, add a deeper layer with no lights where everything is destroyed and a monster"
