Its a deeper meaning you all have failed at.Downsizing is almost exclusively done by white people and older people getting ready to lower their footprint as its the responsible way to enjoy the same quality of life for themselves thus the financial planning, a metaphor for retirement and becoming quasi stewards of the planet. This also pulls into the idea of " saving for the next generation "You then have those who refuse. By doing so you have ultimate power because anyone who doesnt " get it " is a liability to the system.So you have your utopian mouse society of responsible people ready to accept their lesser life (less of a focal of sttention)Then you have the NEW humans. IE the " minorities " of old. They maintained the system and are poised to now take control of it once we are diminished.So in reality, downsizing is a jesters thumb on the nose to anyone living and saving for the future today, as it will be washed away by a wave of " New humans "
