This was fucking horrendous, officially the point when Mann became a parody of himself. Half the movie is one character or another gazing wistfully out over the water while buttrock plays, melodramatic anime-tier writing (that is when you can even hear the dialogue), none of the leads give a good performance, the plot is convoluted nonsense and the shootout at the end is lame (partially because I don't give a shit about any of the characters). I could have forgiven some of those faults if the film at least looked really good which up until now I thought was a given with a Mann film and seeing the cherry picked stills that get posted on here, but it looked like it was shot on a flip phone camera and the composition, color grading and lighting was just plain ugly outside of one or two decent shots. I went in knowing it would be very different from the show which isn't a problem theoretically, but the show mogs it HARD on every level. I was shocked that this had a 100 million dollar budget because it looks more like a cheap-o TV show than the original series. I spent the entire movie wishing I was watching Collateral instead, unbelievable there are "people" on this board that think this is good.
>>220804224i watched this in theaters with a few friends and none of us spoke a word about it afterwards because it was so forgettable. i, quite literally, cannot recall a single thing about it besides panning shots over water.
>>220804224filtered
>>220804224Jamie Foxx sucks so bad
>>220804224Literally a single movie that /tv/ baited me into watching. One of the worst action movies I've ever seen.
>>220804275He has zero personality and mumbles all his lines which weirdly works for his character in Collateral, but casting him as Tubbs who is supposed to be the coolest motherfucker alive is a baffling choice.
Absolutely terrible taste. Consider necking yourself.
>>220804224Filtered, the thread
>>220804274>>220804571>>220804635Not an arguement. Actually defend any aspect of this film, I dare you.
>>220804224It's a horrible movie. Foxx just pouts throughout the whole running time.
>>220804224Huh I thought the movie was carried by it's atmosphere and Colin ferrel. Wouldn't say it was bad though
Op is clearly not a fiend for mojitos
>>220804224It's great.
Filtered bigly.
>>220806366>>220806386This looks horrible
You need a high IQ to understand this movie (not joking).
>>220804224Michael Mann was always a self-parody.
>>220804224At the time Jamie Foxx was at peak popularity for his Ray oscar win. It looked like Mann had no better excuse to work with Foxx again. Farrell was unconvincing as American. Mann tried to stay in theatrical with expensive bloated messes. He was always an medium-budget genre guy. Heat didn't recoup until home rental.
>>220806471That shit literally makes me erect. Dirty, smeary digital is so sexy, it's insane.
>>220806649It makes me nauseous, even 16 and 8mm film just looks better effortlessly. Collateral made much better use of the same camera, lighting goes a long way.
>>220807202Collateral looks like shit, although some of it is Cruise's fault for having a face not fit for the big screen. Miami Vice, Blackhat, and Ferrari are where Mann peaked.
The first time I saw this I couldn't follow what's going on
>>220807251>Collateral looks like shit>Defending Ferrari Delusional
>>220807422How did Cruise possibly manage to convince people he isn't a dweeb? Seriously, his look in that movie is an insult to the Silver Fox. The image looks all uneven too. Terrible mid-2000s shit that has no idea what it wants to be.
>>220804224Its kind of crazy that I watched this two months ago, and felt like I watched a very beautiful and romantic movie. But I can't for the life of me remember much of it. I remember feeling very moved
>>220807507>the image looks unevenIt's called a shallow depth of focus retard.
>michael mann hires local gangsters to protect the production from other gangsters>jamie foxx gets scared and flees the set in the middle of filming and never returns so they have to change the endingThey don't make em like they used to.
>>220804224This movie is a great way to tell if someone actually watches films or if they just watch films via TikTok. Total snooze fest.
>>220807532That's not what I'm talking about.
>>220807597Then what the hell are you talking about
>>220804274
>>220807632The scenery, color grading, and Cruise's face/makeup turning the thing into an abominable jumble. As I said, mid-2000s visual diarrhea.
>>220807671>scenery00's LA had a vibe and looked cool and Collateral captured it perfectly.>color gradingMiami Vice has ridiculously aggressive color grading where the entire scene is deep blue, orange or puke green. Collateral had the teal blue thing going on but it managed to look stylized without being totally obnoxious.>CruiseHe killed it and looked badass, you're just a whiny fag.Miami Vice is a distillation of all the cringe shit from the 00's without any of the cool stuff.
>>220804563There are no cool black actors, possibly no cool blacks at all
>>220808091Even the Klan likes Phillip Micheal Thomas you dumb chud.
Time is luck.
>>220808222>trooncel go one post without sperging about chuds challenge:failed again
>>220804224shit taste, low iq, you're honorary indian
>Mann's 2 best films of the 2st century are WMAF
>>220809144Mann is the king of Pajeet bait
>>220804224the plot was incredibly boring and there was no chemistry between the leads, and it can all be blamed on jaime foxx, unironically
>>220808091Black dynamite?
>>220804259pretty much same, i think ive even watched it like 3 times and i remember nothing.
That's not what would happen.
