>What I'm seeing is... choose my words carefully here.>*smacks lips*>It's pretty straightforward, the state of this board. It's a little stock.
The board would be better if you people would stop posting the exact same fucking things every single day. What is wrong with you? How do you get fun out of typing the same Metallica documentary quotes over and over and over again to each other? Where is the dopamine hit even coming from? What reward system is being activated? My mind is boggledYes, I appreciate the sentiment of the thread, but you used the same Metallica image and green text that I see on this board every single day, and for that your sentiment is mostly lost
why do so many musical artists have like 5 to MAYBE 10 years of quality work in them, and after that not only make mediocre material, but straight up embarrassingly awful shit that seems like it was made by a remarkably unwordly mentally changed 4 year old
If you played that for me I would say, "Delete that. Delete that and start over."
>>220804891Because humans have finite talent and creativity. What mostly happens is they'll reach a peak of creative output which may or may not align with the peak of their commercial success, and then they are forced to either: coast for the rest of their careers off of this content, spend the rest of their careers trying to reinvent the wheel and have lightning strike twice, or continue making content that fades into obscurity
>>220804829> How do you get fun out of typing the same Metallica documentary quotes over and over and over again to each other? No warning? no second chance?
>>220804370I would say to them "dont fire fucking Jason" and thats what no one did
>>220804829>Your reply.... GOD it's just so stock sounding to me>>220804891>That's such a stock standard criticism it's like.... GOD I've just heard it so many times before y'know?>>220804959>Exactly. Where's the vision?? You're not putting the thread first.... GOD >>220804998>GOD will you just listen to yoursel.... Where's the technical complexity in your post?? It's un(You)sable all of it
OP I want you to know that I genuinely appreciate you doing this because this phrase has been stuck in my head for years because of this movie
>>220806339You appreciate him making your condition worse?
>>220804998This is not true. You’re saying this and completely ignoring that fucking Metallica is a huge ass band on a major label who also has a say in how their next album will sound. Of course that stifles creativity when you’re forced into making shit like numetal for sales and to stay relevant(with St. Anger) when they probably didn’t want to and weren’t very familiar with it either
>>220806721It is true. They did the third option in my list- continued to release content that fades into obscurity. Nobody gives a fuck about Metallica anymore. Nobody has given a fuck about Metallica in at least 30 years
>>220806619No, I recognize that the OP is someone who, like me, heard Lars Ulrich call something "stock" and thought, "What a douche." It's very deserving of being meme'd
Metallica masterfully coasted off of Mustaine, Burton, and cocaine for their first 4 albums. When the black album came out, Lars realized he could make 10x the money with 1/4 of the effort, which explains his drumming performance since the 90s. James alone wasn't enough to offset the trend-chasing that Lars and Kirk wanted to pursue during that era, and Jason's talents were wasted for most of the time he was in the band. By the time they decided to make thrash metal again, it was too late.
Is pic related accurate?
>>220806846Every day though? For years?
>>220806761It isn’t. There’s a lot of artists that have been around for nearly as long as Metallica, who, aren’t on huge labels that don’t have a major say in the creative process and still release good stuff
>>220806860Yes, those are four bands that exist.
>>220806860I hate trash metal so much its insane.Heavy/power/symphonicblack/melodeath are the only acceptable metalgenres
>>220806871>I'm gonna choose my words carefully here.....*farts*>you're nigger stock. you come from niggers
>>220806931Powee and symphonicmetal are the gayes metal genres.
>>220806846One person spamming something isn’t a meme
>>220804370this is actually an incredible kino… it’s like Spinal Tap but it actually happened
>>220807117Calling something stock will always be a meme in my heart
>>220806197My reflection, dirty mirrorThere's no connection to myselfI'm your lover, I'm your zeroI'm the face in your dreams of glass
>>220804891Lars and Kirk were coked to the gills, and James Hetfield was a relentless alcoholic whose childhood was dominated by his lame religious zealot parents. Their oddball musical guru (Burton) was flung out of a bus and crushed into mushy bits. It was a perfect fireball for a creative explosion. That shit doesn't last forever. You can't keep doing coke like that forever and expect the same level of quality. The rankling grudges soothe into old scars, and the fame and fortune extinguishes the ambition required to channel their creative drive into making good music. After the success of the Black Album, the divorces etc. the children, the adolescent rage that underpins Thrash Metal was probably gone forever. Hetfield could have just retired to hunt big game for the rest of his life and been perfectly content. Instead he and Lars shit out a gay album every four or five years and preach the 'Tallica family to the audience as they play the Unforgiven VI because that's all they know now. For Mustaine it was clearly a different breed of resentment fuelling him, an adult grudge and fiery urge to outsoar the band that ousted him at the cusp of their success and callously retooled some of his coolest riffs for their own legacy. For other artists, the answers generally tend to follow the same patterns. Drugs, fame and fortune engendering complacency, burnout, industry-mandated trend-chasing, ennui etc. Making music, especially in a certain type of genre, requires a certain type of passion, and it's rare that anyone keeps a passion going forever. It is really kind of a head-scratcher just how shitty Metallica's music became after the Black Album though. Even stripped down just to the lyrical content, it's like Hetfield's brain was mangled.
