Hitchcock is pretentious slop. Kubrick is the actual Greatest Of All Time.
>>
>>220809024
Hitchcock's best movies aren't his famous ones
>>
>>220809024
how is Hitchcock pretentious? most of his films are very straight forward thrillers
>>
>>220808926
Vertigo sucks and is overrated as hell

>>220809039
True, I love many of his earlier films like Sabotage and The Lady Vanishes

Literally the first pleb filter on the kino journey and you fail it. Pathetic.
>>
>>220809381
james gavin or rock hudson would have been more believable with grace kelly, true
>>
>>220808926
Intentionally cropping out the movie title to vaguepost doesn’t work when everyone already knows what it is
>>
if entry level kinos like vertigo and la dolce vita filter someone... what should that person watch then?
>>
>>220809437
To Catch A Thief is very charming, and Grace Kelly elevates it well above a 4, anon.
>>
>>220809063
anon is either retarded or baiting. Probably both.
Learn to ignore knuckle-dragging "pretend"ers

Dumb zoomer. Also Kim Novak was sexier than Grace Kelly, fight me.

You know, that Kim Novak had some big breasts.

I was referencing rear window. jimmy was already too old there.

His English works are still great movies but for Hitchcock they’re rather lower grade. His Vertigo is his absolute peak. Shadow of a doubt is arguably another peak.

I'm sure they'll provide conjugal visits for the two of you while she serves her sentence.
>>
>>220810172
psycho is better than vertigo
>>
>>220810288
Vertigo is structurally and aesthetically and psychologically way more intense and absorbing. Psycho is also good for a horror movie. Probably one of the best. But it’s no way near the level of Vertigo. I think Vertigo is the best exploration of male sexuality in cinema.
>>
you should watch 10-15 Hitchcock movies before you watch Vertigo

De Palma did Hitchcock better than Hitchcock
>>
>>220809255
straight men are too distracted by grace kelly being transcendentally beautiful to notice.
>>
I've seen 24 of his films and I did not care for Vertigo
The Lady Vanishes is underrated kino
>>
Vertigo has good sets and cinematography though

>>220808926
the only reason people sucked this movie's dick so hard was because they invented that shot where you pull the camera back and zoom in. aside from cinematography and score it's overrated for sure

Visuals are great. Sets are full of detail. Plot is weak. Novak sucks and looks retarded with her giant drawn on eyebrows.
>>
>>220809381
James Stewart was never washed, and Vertigo was the perfect role for him
>>

39 steps deserves to be lower. the birds and to catch a thief deserve to be higher
>>

Orsen Welles made two or three good movies, but he was such a whiny bitch all the time. He has talent and charm for sure, but he was such an insufferable cunt.
>>
Some movies are undeniably electrifying. They don't have to have the most exciting things going on on screen, but you get sucked in.
Vertigo didn't do it for me. I just sat there waiting for it to get really good, and it never did. It wasn't that I disliked what I saw, but that I never felt the magic.
It's been a while. I'll probably try again and see if I've changed.
>>
>>220811408
Maybe back then, but not in the modern world with its advanced forensics and ubiquitous CCTV.
>>
>>220813256
The first time I watched it I immediately felt a little disappointed, but I couldn't get it out of my head for days. Rewatching it really considerably raised its standing for me.
