This show falls off hard after season 2
>>
I agree. I don't know why, it gets too serious I suppose but I can barely bring myself to finish season 3.
>>
>>220809258
Michael Mann left and Dick Wolf took over.
>>
>>220809258

Serious? Not really, at least motorbike gang episode was goofy as hell, with the main bad guy blasting away entire swat team and wheeling away. It tried to be dark for sure but cant say it felt serious

i made it to season 4 and i stopped because the first 2 seasons are amazing and i don't wanna taint it. though the ufo episode is apparently hilariously bad. waiting to get a new job so i can get wasted watching it.
picrel is my all time favorite

playing vice city while watching the first 2 seasons is so fucking comfy

I hate the short haircuts in season 3.

"Viking Bikers from Hell" was one of my favorite episodes.
They made the main bad guy almost like a terminator killing machine.

S3 has some moments, but it's not nearly as good. My favorite is Rico outrunning the SSP Mustang in a Volante so he can go to prison undercover. But the fashion, the car, the writing, all went downhill.
But the photography was still top notch, Oliver Wood shot the majority of it, then he went on to some big time movies. I would still rather watch 3,4,5 than anything on today, call me unc if you want.
>>
>>220809203
It still has some pretty good gems in season 3, but the decline is very apparent by season 4.

>>220809289
This. Mann was still partially involved with season 3 but disappeared by season 4, and it really shows.
>>
Honestly, when Sonny gets amnesia and starts selling coke and murdering people might be stupider than the UFO.

>Great show that most people loved was le never good

*Yawn* get a new act
>>
>>220816584
I've never managed to watch season 5, I always get somewhere into season 4 and just can't stand it any longer.
>>
>>220809203
The first 2 seasons put style and aesthetic above all else. Season 3 tightened up the plots a bit but eased up on the aesthetic. It's still good, just not AS good. Season 4 and 5 is when it went to shit.
>>
>>220815847
Slab Hardbeef-esque
>>
>>220818178
Season 3 is also when a lot of plots started to get bad, either through Dick Wolf wanting to just make it into another gritty cop show or the ultra goofy episodes.
>>
For me? Definitely Miami and Little Miss Dangerous.

Based beyond belief. I also enjoy Tale of the Goat, Milk Run and The Great McCarthy.

I love Clarence Williams III (RIP!) but I was lukewarm on that episode, Tale of the Goat. Still, there are also far worse episodes.

On another note, killing off Zito felt so gay even if it was well told.
>>
>>220819635
same, but Germany
>>
Nah, I liked the Crockett in too deep years
>>
>>220819898
Clarence is what really made the episode for me, as well as the opening with that hypnotic The Fixx song during the funeral. The bit where the voodoo priest says "zombie" and it pans down to the dead goat was also absolute kino.

>On another note, killing off [spoiler[Zito[/spoiler] felt so gay even if it was well told.
Very. I tend to dip out of the show just before that two part episode happens, that was the "jump the shark" moment for me. It had Dick Wolf written all over it along with Stan becoming an alcoholic gambler to deal with his grief.
>>
It doesn't help that the ending to this hit very close to home.
>>
>>220820097
How so? Because she was just a user that would latch onto the next alpha?
>>
>>220820097
Getting bamboozled by a woman who feigned interest to serve her own ends. The whole ending is just great though. The FBI dude fucking up so grossly that he gets the Castillo stare, the music, Crockett not saying a word to her.
>>
>>220820281
Kino ending of an episode. It's a shame this show gets remembered as just a meme series when it had some truly greatly written episodes.
>>
>>220820312
Yeah, Miami Vice took me by surprise. I only started it about two-three months ago and it's mostly great. I expected generic cop crime of the week slop but it's leagues above that. Sure, it does have "crime of the week" as its core storytelling device but there is an overarching narrative and characters grow and develop for the most part.

Linen is boss in the summertime, there is no better look.
>>
There's a whole lot of bloodless deaths
Bullet wounds that don't bleed
I guess they figured the ratings board would be happy and nobody would ever notice such lack of realism on ye olde CRT SD television
>>
>>220821247
a lot of irl footage of shots to the chest don't have blood showing right away desu

>Rolling Stones - Miss You
>brief pause
>The Deele - Body Talk
what a great opening for the whole show. you immediately get the style they're pushing for and they're still in New York during those scenes, then cut to Crockett and Jimmy Smitts in Miami. So good.
