>>220815175Someone post the song at the end, what year it'll be set in, and where it is

Blinding Lights - The Weekend is the end song
The final frame.Russiabros, what does this say?
Is this show worth it? I really don't want to watch women in space.
>>220815573
>>220815596OH SHIT NIGGA
>>220815609What the hell is THAT?
>>220815832Rear end of the ship going to Neptune
>>220815859No I thought it was Alpha Centauri?
>>220815874Sure looks like Alpha Centauri desu
>>220815874>>220815892GW is Gravitational Waves, which lines up with the predictions and the color of the sun, so yes that ship is likely a probe sent to Alpha Centauri with the tech of the blue glowing life discovered by Kelly on Titan.
penis
>>220816094and also dicke and balls
>>220815859>>220815994Nah that's Mars94 that raced to Titan and lost, isn't it?Surely it has to be at least at the edge of the solar system? GW would be the bow shock right?
>>220816153Season 3's Mars94 ship they abandoned, retard
So what's up with the light pond shit? Aliums?
>>220815631Why is mine in Russian? Did I fucking download the russian versioin? Also what can cause a gravitational wave? A black hole?
>>220816782Could be.>Be Kelly on Titan>Record death message>Get left behind voluntarily>Almost out of oxygen>See blue ayys glowing in the water>Walks into itYes let's just contaminate Titan ayys with my dead body shall we?
>>220816846It's in Russian in the show, that's the Yandex translated image.
>>220816782That's an bioluminescence algae bloom, we have that shit here on earth. In the show those algae either digest or produce methane, however if you ever read a book called Project Hail Mary(I doubt anyone here ever heard of it, since no one here reads), we can breed using selective reproduction, algae to produce oxygen.
>>220816153Inclined to agree with the Bow Shock theory. Mars94 has been floating for 26 years in the end scene (2020), so at that velocity it's highly likely it'd be at the edge of the Solar System and next to the Bow Shock/Terminal Shock/Heliopause.
So Star City is just the horny version of SENPAI?
>>220816782>>220817069It reminded me of Jim Lovell's story about algae.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFThXbDVtvg
Only watched the first episode. How much of the show is interpersonal drama? I want to see some space exploration, not some soap opera.
>>220817712literally all of it
>>220816926she's going to farm them to produce water, food and oxygen, probably something for building material tooInners are gonna show back up there ready to colonise it and grandma is gonna tell them to get the fuck off her lawn, Baldwins finally got somewhere first and by God's good graces she's gonna keep it
>>220817712Almost all of the show is interpersonal drama, there's only less of the tech stuff as the show goes on. You might have a few scenes where they sit down and pretend to crunch math over fuel efficiency problems but 95% of the time it's going to be about this guy's alcoholism, that guy's dysfunctional marriage with his wife, how pilot X experiences racism because she's black, how pilot Y experiences sexism because she's a woman, there's a subplot about closeted lesbians, subplot about drug addiction, subplot about someone fucking his dad's best friend's wife and so on. We only watched two episodes of the last season before dropping it, it's insane how insufferable and unlikeable the main character had become - he had been for a season or two but it seems like as time goes on he just becomes a caricature of his previous self with no real character growth, only decline.
>>220817712The original concept for the show was "Mad Men but 1970s NASA" but he changed it to an alternate timeline scifi after realizing that the real 1970s NASA was really depressing and boring.
The Russian guy was the hero but the hillbilly get to be the new governor?
>>220818059Apparently that's his reward for frying a bunch of soldiers. What was the motivation of the governor in all of this. What did he gain?
>>220818059the plan for the russian guy was to become the new soviet premier
>>220815175I stopped watching as soon as the space race scifi show started showing what the neurotic wife was doing, have they stopped that?
>>220818201Yea
>>220815238Oh shit!
>>220815562I half-expected the theme from The Expanse to start playing.
>>220817604I thought the same thing
>>220817787Fucking A.
>>220818441there's like a gorillion scifi shows, don't get why the obsession on this being a prequel to the expanse
>Kelly dies, or is assumed to be dead as far as anyone else knows, because the rover wouldn't start for reasons that are unexplained or glossed over Even if you don't like the character you have to admit this is retarded. In past seasons, if a tech problem was a major plot point, it would be explored more thoroughly
>>220818617Mainly because of the whole breakaway colony angle. It’s a damned near perfect fit.
>>220818634Well, it’s a question of circumstances. Investigating further only would have only increased the likelihood of all three dying.
show sucks fucking dick now barely and space shit and I can't stand the zoomer chink and his stupid gf. i'll pass on the 2020 timeline this show ended with kinoman
>>220815874It's the busted Soviet ship from season 3. It says "Mars 94" in Russian. It was supposed to go to Mars and wasn't traveling anywhere near fast enough to reach another solar system by accident.
>>220818686In season 2 when a stray bullet hits Jamestown's nuclear reactor computer control chip, the camera zooms in to show exactly what happened. It matters that the audience understands what happened, even though the characters don't as much
>>220818117Did he?
>2020... am i forgotten>>220818634they showed last episode and explained in this one that tholins were wreaking havoc in their electronics, but still it was retarded that the injured german didn't stay behind or didn't even argue about it
>>220818780Tholins wreaking havoc on the robot explorers makes sense as they were sitting on Titan for months. It makes less sense for any of the Sojourner stuff which was only there for a few days
>>220818780>didn't even argue about itshe did though, put down the phone when you watch something
>>220815596>>220815631It's Nikulov, not Nikulino. GW might stand for gravity well, so it sounds like it might be approaching an asteroid named after Sergei Nikulov.
>>220818752Not saying this is the case, but maybe the reason we’re not shown ties into future plot developments.
>>220818780Oooh right this is the spaceship the Russian tried to get to mars to and failed with. Soooo why bring it back?
>>220815175>the year is 1995>the american President is a lesbian>there are gay niggers on Mars
>>220819170it's chekhov's gun again, scriptwriters have used it a number of times during the show with varying degrees of success, maybe we'll see interstellar travel by the end of the series? they already jumped the shark hinting at a multicellular organism in titan
>>220819170It might be our furthest man-made object. Did NASA still launch the Voyager missions?
>>220819367They launched at least 5 Voyager probes in the series.
>>220819276They're going to end the show with a Starship mission. Better get charismatic new characters like the onew at the first seasons to pull it off
If there isn't a scene of Mr Lee dancing gnam gnam style I'm not watching it.
>>220819388Interesting. Was this derelict ship going faster than them trying to beat us to Mars?
>>220819454Kek
>>220819468Some people are theorizing that Mars94 is way out in deep space after shooting past Mars, but afaik it was just abandoned in the middle of a Mars transfer orbit. It didn't continue to accelerate after reactor meltdown forced the crew to abandon ship.So realistically it would probably just be orbiting around the sun with an apohelion somewhere around Mars orbit or in the asteroid belt.Who knows what they're going to use it for in the next season, but I hope it's just activating the computer to get some data or something. Refurbishing Sojourner for Titan in just a few months was already ridiculous.
>>220815191>blinding lights>2020>mars-94 (the Soviet Mars ship) has its computers turn back on in deep space
>>220818114His wife and daughter were pariahs under the old Soviet regime. Upholding the iridium embargo ensure the regime collapsed and meant they wouldn't be in danger anymore
Pretty good finale. Glad Kelly's gone. Surprised dev gets to just hang out on mars as a free man. I wonder if tabasco making the pilgrimage to her dad's loony bin means she stuck around on mars?
>>220819588>I hope it's just activating the computer to get some data or somethingThat sounds likely.
>>220819704Seems like Avery and Alex are going to be the key figures in the final season. Makes sense with them being the grandkids of Gordo and Ed. Pottery and what not.
>>220819777i ship them, the other bitch is annoying and only causes troubles
> kelly finally goneShe is absolutelly gonna shove those oxy-algae up her ass and survive, isn't she?
>>220818201she ded but she's a big focus up until then with a complicated, multi-faceted storyline. you will never hear elvis the same again.
>>220820239
>>220820239>>220820324
>>220819777I wonder how they'll have Alex close off the Baldwin legacy in the final season. First man to find a sentient alien?
>>220815175If they nuke mars I'll cheer and buy everyone drinks.
>>220819588>>220819729I think the theory I've liked best from what I've seen is one from reddit that whatever mars 94 is doing isn't hugely important (like dev being at the pole wasn't important in last seasons time jump, it was just to show the progress on the asteroid) and instead just shows that all the fighting to keep investment in mars (last season and this season) has paid off in terms of furthering space exploration, and by the 2020s trips into deeper space to rendezvous with/pick up old ships for relatively trivial reasons are routine
>Kelly gets to double dip on end-of-series monologues after getting the s2 one. Fuck sake, it's ridiculous how blatantly she was a favourite of the writers. Can't say I'll miss her
GD. I wanted the mars commies to get wrecked. There's no way they could've stopped a Marine invasion. What a joke.
>reason for Kelly having to stay behind is casually glossed over>M-6 calls for a ceasefire over events that we didn't see and are barely explainedThe final season needs to avoid feeling undercooked this way
This show became such a disappointment. How do you go from cool alt history to boring woke soap opera? 95% of this show is just boring soap opera garbage. No politics or space exploration anymore.
>>220822751also>no admission from or reckoning for Kelly over her hijacking>little to no reaction from Alex over losing his mom>Lily does absolutely nothing here, other than hug her dad, when she was important before
>>220816926she has 5 minutes oxygen, she is gonna turn water into oxeyen in that time?
>>220823045>>little to no reaction from Alex over losing his momTo be fair, he was probably horny.
>>220823045>>no admission from or reckoning for Kelly over her hijackingWhy would a woman ever admit fault or get the blameIt's 2026
>>220823859It would be jumping the shark, but maybe the ayy microbes have some property which saves her. Like they enter her bloodstream and allow her to breathe nitrogen.Maybe the final season will reveal that these microbes aren't as simple or primordial as they looked, they're actually nanotech with a form of collective swarm intelligence left behind by other ayys, which is why they were able to do that so quickly. Or some shit
>>220823859Of course, she'll just science something up.
>>220823859there is no water on Titan retard
>>220824520There is a LOT of water on Titan. Though not in the form of liquid on the surface.
>>220817961LMAOI live in Houston and have met a lot of old NASA guys from the 60s and 70s.Only Hollywood retards could think the autistic dorks who just wanted to play with rocket ships were going to be anything like 1950s ad men.Don't get me wrong a lot of them were also alcoholic assholes that fucked everything that moved. But not in a cool Don Draper way, much more in a polyamoroys sex pest way. Would not make for entertaining tv.It's a shame for all mankind stopped shooting on location in Clear Lake and has started to try to pass off Southern California for South Texas.
the finale was kino af
I've been waiting for the whole season to come out so I could binge it but I just don't care after kinoman died. It's a slog now
>>220825109it gets way better after episode 5 or so
>>220825117Okay, I'm almost done 5 now. I will push through. It doesn't help though that I finally picked up the Mars trilogy and I'm on book 3 now. It would be almost impossible to care as much about a show as I care about that world now... I find myself wanting to go back to reading every time I watch.
Just watched the star city spin-off's firest ep. Exactly the spacekino from seasons 1 and 2 with Sovietkino suffering wrapping all around it. Watching it made me realize that what's been lacking is the inherent danger and struggle from facing down an merciless inhospitable world that took center stage in the first 3 seasons over intrigue. The main series clearly has an escalation issue since they need to make the struggles grander than the last season's so it's either change the nature of the struggle to fit the season budget or blow it on something ludricously complex to replicate that spacekino feeling for the final one.
>>220815238Nice to see Otto and Mr Hickey in it
Both episode 9 and 10 have the same scene where the russian governor gets out of being taken prisoner by throwing his name around. Both times another bearded guy gives him the stinkeye. Is it a joke or something?
>>220825974i liked it as well, but still have a couple of gripes, like making the soviets comically evil (again), their tech breaks down every 5 seconds
>>220819685Ah ok makes sense
>>220826168>like making the soviets comically evil (again), their tech breaks down every 5 secondsI no see problem with this. We speak of same mother russia where bad remark gets you life in the mines and safety only slightly better than SpaceX?
>>220826038Stop watching shows while on your phone you fucking zoomer
>>220823890fuck this zoomer chink i skip every scene with him
>>220826168It was the 60s, everything was in its infancy vs later seasons of the show or our reality. They would be doing something wrong if it WASN'T breaking down every 5 seconds
>>220815575This someone give me the breakdown on this show and the woke %.
>>220826430I should have bet money on some shill replying with something dismissive and agressive. These threads are a joke.
>>220815575>>220826461Define woke %. Some tough ladies and women/DEI empowerment here and there but Kinoman was the star carrying the show hard and the space setpieces are great. Season 5 hasn't been as tight writing-wise but still enjoyable with bits of spacekino magic if you're not out looking to be offended by things.
>>220826461Watch the first seasonExpect space kinoGet woman drama insteadAlso get faggot drama tooI'm honestly surprised they kept nigger drama to a minimumIt's basically 2-3 decent episodes per season and the rest is faggotry
>>220826461It's subjective. Season 3 has a closeted lesbian president coming out to the country and her homophobic VP resigning over it. But then in season 5 that VP has been elected president, kinda going in the other direction
>>220820239>>220820324Next season's finale will have Kelly flying Titan itself into Venus.
