Oh hey, I just gone done watching this scene. I was blown away! I had to watch it a couple times to really pick up on it, but did you guys realize that when he was teaching them about the chess pieces, he was really referring to THEM being the pawns! What an amazing metaphor!

It was so deep and meaningful, I am amazed by the deep symbolism of this.

Do the later seasons continue on with masterful symbolism like this? This was truly the pinnacle of storytelling that I have ever seen on a television show, and I think I can confidently say The Wire is the best show ever made without even having seen the entire series.

Also the acting is amazing. Idris Elba and Dominic West do a great job with their Baltimore accents.

By the way, are the seasons from season 3 onward worth watching? I remember finishing season 2 with the end of the Greek Tony Soprano’s arc and thinking “That was good, I’m done,” and then never picking up the rest of the series.

Season 4 is amazing, i'm a s2 supremacist and s4 is almost as good (for me).
Season 5 is bad compared to the other ones but its so short you might aswell watch it to finish the show.

S1 and 2 are just good television.
S3 is overrated dogshit that spends too much time on "compelling" "well-written" "engaging" "thought provoking" characters like Stringer and McNulty. There's a lot more porn too because people's attention spans must have been slipping.
S4 is by far the best season and has a few dozen likable characters who never overstay their welcome
S5 is fine but the central plots are not interesting enough to make you want to see how everything wraps up.

This show is ass and the same people that enjoy it enjoy the prequels.
