I read it years before the movie was even a thing.it has a lot of themes of futility and repetition in life, even breaking out of the time loop still ends up with everything being the same and nothing changing, just different people in the same places as others doing the same thing without any real progress.there is no big action ending where they stop the aliens, the book ends with basically nothing having changed from the start, just the MC taking the place of rita and perpetuating the cycle.

>>220821911that isn't the point I am making retardthe book released in 2004a decade later the movie adaption came out and a manga adaption started a bit before it releasedand another decade later it got an anime adaptionthe anime came out after the movie adaption, by many yearsand the movie adaption isn't even adapting most of the bookeven the anime made it very different, way lighter tone, having romance elements in its, and huge plot changes.the movie at least had a serious tone even if it was no where near as dark as the book (which isn't super dark or anything, but its definitely a lot grittier and melancholic than its adaptions) while the anime is far lighter.I just thought it was a cool book I read in like 2008 or something and ended up talking to a few friends about it and knew a few people who read it, I just dislike how shitty the adaptions of it have been for what is genuinely a good and interesting story, all of them have missed the point of it and what was actually interesting about it. People just keep adapting the premise (which is also very interesting) but not actually doing anything with it and fucking up the existing story they could have just used.
