That IS Dark City

In the Matrix, the robots aren't really doing anything, it's the humans that keep fucking up the system. In Dark City, the aliens can't help themselves from messing around. It's like if a The Sims player was the one in charge of managing Dark City. I dunno which one's better but Dark City is funnier for me.

The movie has some great visuals but then it's edited / paced in a completely inappropriate way. It should be a slow neo-noir but the whole film just rushes past like it's late for a meeting. It's too fast. The third act is comical, and the alien reveal is too early in BOTH cuts. Obviously it's not as egregious in the Director's Cut where the whole fucking ot doesn't get revealed in the opening but it doesn't fix enough things nonetheless. The reveal should have been the climax of the detective plot, but the mystery ends like halfway through the film in the Director's Cut too.

Weird I don't remember a scene where the protag is enjoying bath bombs in a badly lit bathroom.
