I didn't like this scene. They didn't seem particularily close so this level of relationship wasn't established by the movie. It also seems unfitting for his character, Spartsn society as a whole and to their mission. It smells like "we put that in there for the women audience to get them to have some kind of emotionsl connection to the hypermasculine death worshippers"
