As a 14 year old I just wanted to see the mob stuff but as an adult I love the family drama and deep themes and psychology discussed in the therapy.But the funny thing is, both Tony and Melfi are right. Melfi is right about most things she diagnoses Tony with, and Tony is right that her entire field is a racket full of psuedo-science BS to make people dependent on expensive treatments.The Sopranos is genuinely very deep thematically-speaking, more than any show ever made, only things on the same level are Mad Men and Six Feet Under. But the memey, silly mob stuff makes people think the show is dumber than it is, and distracts people from the real meat of the show.
