>Adam McKay (“The Big Short”, “Don’t Look Up”) almost direct a THE BOYS film trilogy starring Russell Crowe as Billy Butcher, Simon Pegg as Hughie Campbell and Aaron Eckhart as Homelander in 2008, but the project was cancelled because studios didn’t think an R-rated superhero movie satire would be profitable.Would it have been kino?
>>220833389>studios didn’t think an R-rated superhero movie satire would be profitableThis was the same year Hancock and Superhero Movie came out
>>220833389padding the boys out across 5 seasons was a pretty shit idea. It should have been 3. Hell, had it ended in season 3 with Soldier Boy de powering Homelander and butcher killing him then, it'd have been perfect.
Pegg was making hot fuzz in 2008 and eckhart was making the dark knight I don’t find this allegation credible
Pegg was already a bit too old to play Hughie in 2008, even though the character was specifically based on him.
>>220833991Hancock was not a satire and Superhero movie was a spoof.
>>220834355>Actors can only make one movie per year.Besides, it was being developed in 2008, it would probably only release in 2009/2010.In fact, The Dark Knight hype was probably the main reason Eckhart was even on the radar for Homelander.
Who else would be in a 2008-era cast for this?
>>220833389Could've been kino
>>220833389Wasn't Crowe getting stupidly fat by 2008? I don't believe he'd slim down. Man really loves his food.
>>220836553this was him in october 2008 so not really
>>220833389Couldn't have been much worse than the show or the comic.
>>220833389Nah Starr is still the best, besides he could have done the role considering the guy is 50
>>220837232It was when movies were edgy and not as political.Movies post 2016 became unwatchable
why was don't look up so shit but The Big Short so kino? I mean putting aside the subject matters TBS was a really entertaining movie while I had to struggle to get through Look Up.
the social media angle helped it be current but i feel this 2008 hypothetical one would've been pretty much timeless.
>>220834355Both movies were filmed in early 2007
>>220833389This was the one with the script where The Seven were Homelander, Maeve, Deep, Noir, A-Train, a Hulk knock-off and Starlight, right?
Better than the show
>>220833389Bump
>>220833389Anyone notice the similarities between the real life Israeli Defense Force and the superheroes like Homelander and the others who kill civilians on a whim?
>>220842989Stop noticing things
