The "practical effects are better than CGI" crowd has been real quiet since Oppenheimer

This was the most disappointing moment in the film. It looked *nothing* like an atomic explosion, which we have hundreds of hours of footage of btw.

nukes literally aren’t real, it’s all a scam

Why couldn't they get permission to detonate a small tactical warhead somewhere in an empty desert in the U.S.?
>>

This was so disappointing. They even talk in the movie about how it's not a chemical explosion, it's something conpletely different. Yet then they just do a Michael Bay gasoline fireball. The records from the actual test reported it as a blinding white flash then bright grey dust mushroom cloud with arcs of purple lightning.

>Despite not being in force, the CTBT has established a global norm against nuclear testing, reinforced by nuclear testing moratoria declared by the five nuclear-weapon states recognized under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT): China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Nolan could have used the actual Trinity footage but he chose a gas explosion. Then he could have used the same reaction shots. Confirmed hack.

it's funny that when an spacex rocket explodes everyone talks about a successful test instead

That shit was so embarrassing. I've seen gas station explosions that were more impressive. Hell they could have just not shown it at all. They could have instead kept the camera focused on the people at the testing area. Show the abject horror on their faces as they used to lighting to light up the night and have their shadows stretch off into the distance. Pull the camera back and show how far the light was going to give it scale while leaving how horrific it is in the audiences imagination. Then people would go home and look up the actual footage and understand why they had such looks of horror on their faces

Seriously, that explosion had zero real effort and was pathetic
