This is a proto liminal spaces movie>an empty hotel that used to house tons of life>a constant sense of slight dread in thinking you might not be alone>vast empty rooms and hallways with intriguing, sometimes disturbing designs and patterns>something about the space feels wrongThis is 80% of the appeal. It's truly atmospheric in a liminal sense. Infinitely rewatchable because nothing can "resolve" how you feel when you watch it. It's just there, it is, uncanny sensations.
I'm obsessed with finding a place or a hotel with a space that can match the Gold Room in atmosphere.
>>220848798Amazing. Backrooms truly did innovate
To that end it feels like people are getting cheesy and hamfisted with the concept. "The Backrooms", something derivative and too on the nose. "LOOK LOOK ITS SO LIMINAL ITS SO LIMINAL WHAT IF THERE WERE MONSTERS BACK HERE." It sucks. It's almost like giving this instinct and sense a real name and formalizing the concept is ruining it. It used to just be and exist and we would find it organically. The entire point is The Question. You can't answer it or else you spoil it
>>220848798this is just any shitty 4star hotel that hasnt been rennovated since the 70s
>>220848798>liminal spacesis this the new dumb zoomer thing, pothead?
>>220848816Best part of the hotel. That ceiling and bartop is pure kino, but for me it's the red and white n-word bathroom attached to it.
>>220848798>movies based on the Greek myth of the Labyrinth, a gigantic liminal space>op thinks Backrooms started thisYou pajeets are incredibly retarded.
>>220848798>This is a proto liminal spaces movieGUYS I JUST GOT BACK FROM REDDIT AND MADE THIS THREAD OK!!!
>>220848798You forgot the hedge maze. Black guy draws map maze of Backrooms. Also the memory residue of the Grady twins and the multiple mundanity of Frosted Flakes boxes in the Overlook kitchen pantry. Backrooms condenses and combines The Shining with its speculated moon landing symbology and Kubrick's involvement with NASA glowies too.
>>220848798Everyobe who utters the words "liminal spaces" needs to executed. It's the most pseudointelectual forced meme ever created.
So you're saying...Kane essentially just copied Kubrick and there is nothing new to see here...
>>220850073Ludonarrative Dissonance.
>>220848798Langoliers was a Stephen King adaptation that was liminal. It's not great by any means and the monsters are dumb looking, but it ticks all the boxes.
Its been a thing for centuries, zoomers didn't invent the feeling you get when you see empty buildings
>>220848840the backrooms is just a shitty version of scp 3008even the 4chan post was just a shitty vaguepost ripoff of it
>>220849410>n-wordGo back reddit nigger
