I feel like Casino Royale is great but the weird indecisive pivot between a serialised story, unusual but high with potential, fucked up by the writers strike in quantum of solace. Makes it feel less overall good on its own because it’s so heavily connected to a nonsensical dropped plotI guess it just wasn’t thought of at the time but if they wanted a serialised story, they needed to bothA) map out a VAGUE outline for a series of movies. Obviously you can retool individual movies plots as you make them but vaguely knowing that in the sequel to casino royale you find out about Mr Whites organisation. Then in the sequel to that you find out it’s just a branch of spectre or whateverB) figure out what rights you have and plan around it. As I recall the reason they made up the Quantum organisation was because they couldn’t legally use spectre at the time. So as soon as they could they just dumped the quantum/mr white story in an awkward way to make a god awful movie about Blofeld creating a criminal Illuminati to somehow fuck over bond because of petty personal issues. Made this expansive universe seem retardedly centred on bond rather than him being a player within it Frankly it’s just bizarre. The villains are very poor in Craig’s movies. Only Le Chiffre and Silva are good. How do you have a mediocre villain for the movie that has the villain succeed in killing bond?
