Why do people have so much nostalgia for this shitty decade, when the one that immediately followed and especially the one that immediately preceded it were so much more fruitful? Not just in film but also in music?
>>
>>220853343
No one is rating it highly you dumb moron. People have nostalgia for everything that existed when they were a child. In 30 years people will have nostalgia for shitty 2020s movies.
>>
>>220853436
no they wont
>>
>>220853343
I'll explain it to you like a little kid, since it's obvious you're not old enough to have experienced the retro cycle. Every ten years, the older generations pick one of the decades from their youth to remember fondly. This only appeals to older generations, since the progression of culture stopped in 2001 when Bush blew up the towers. We'll have 90s nostalgia next, and by the end of that we'll be slaves to AI and the world ends.

OK. Go brush your teeth and I'll tuck you in.
>>
>>220853436
We have been living in 80s nostalgia since the late 90s. We're almost at 50 years since the decade now, even though it was one of the least interesting. It's not like the 60s, where culture changed so rapidly, and that's why the nostalgia has lived on.
>>
>>220853491
>the late 90s
What are some late 90s examples of 80s nostalgia? I feel like it didn't start until 2005 or so.
>>
>>220853343
because boomers used the 1980s to create a more stable buying power for themselves so it was overall the best. not just a small class of Elite having wealth. even the common people could buy and also money saved had one of the highest interest rates on record. until the 1987 Black Tuesday event. it was pretty good leading up to that. not all of the 70s was great. early 70s was a Gas Crisis like today with high unemployment. it wasn't until after Vietnam that shit took off. from around 1978-1987 was a great time to be alive. music was great, people didn't have forced immigration, people learned code to keep out undesirables and force bad elements into pocketed hoods. like Freeway Rick and East LA
you knew not where to go.

that's gone now. Cameras took that away
You have no freedoms

Fucking 80s, man, best shit ever. Bet your ass, man.

Guns N' Roses fucking rules. Crüe. Def Lep.

Then that Cobain pussy had to come around and ruin it all. Like there's something wrong with wanting to have a good time.

I'll tell you something. I hated the fucking 90s.

90s fucking sucked.
>>
>>220853646
Have you ever seen The Wedding Singer?
>>
>>220853678
>have you SEEN Antarctica? why would they put all that snow and penguins in there if they didn't want you to be nostalgic for Antarctica?
>>
Best action movies, best special effects with no cgi bullshit(or very rudimentary), best music in all fields, culture was not nigger-worship 24/7, Rock and Metal were cool and not for 50 years olds, the only thing that really sucked was fashion. 80s fashion is probably the worst ever, especially for women, they were obsessed with making women look like men.
>>
>>220853723
>50 years olds
Lol shut up, fucking tard.
>>
>>220853723
>Rock

Grunge > Hair metal faggotry

Plus there was Gangsta rap. Britpop. RnB. Everything wasn't overproduced by STW.

It's funny because in the 80s everyone had 50s and 60s nostalgia

>STYLE OVER SUBSTANCE; A Decade Later, Star Status for the 80's
>March 1, 1998
>ADAM SANDLER is not the real star of the hit comedy "The Wedding Singer." Neither is Drew Barrymore, nor even Ellen Albertini Dow, the grandmother whose Geritol version of "Rapper's Delight" provides the amiable film with its funniest moment. Top billing should go to the movie's spot-on re-creation of the 1980's, its fads and fashions, trends and taste lapses.
>"The Wedding Singer," of course, is not the first film to trade on 80's nostalgia. "Grosse Pointe Blank," the 1997 black comedy about a hit man (John Cusack) returning to his hometown for a high school reunion, was awash in New Wave music. So was "Romy and Michele."
>But this new film arrives at the perfect moment. In the money-glutted late 90's, the pre-crash go-go 80's are being re-examined and resuscitated with ever-increasing frequency. The "Dynasty" decade is beginning to seem as interesting as the disco one.
>Indeed, the 80's have joined every other decade as a font of inspiration for designers, musicians and other creative types hungrily pillaging the past in search of millennial muses.
>>
>>220853723
>80s fashion is probably the worst ever
You are a child.
>>220853775
Grunge was for whiny suburban faggots. Hair metal was for party guys.
>>
>>220853769
Go to metal concerts. I go every year, most of the dudes are either complete total fucking losers who cosplay as vikings from the history channel show or 60 years olds with their old wives. The only good thing about Metal festivals is that they're safe as there's almost zero niggers except a bunch of brazilians obsessed with metal.
Every single song in the top 10 of any given country is nigger mumble, all my gen Z and gen alpha employees at work listen almost exclusively to that shit.
>>
>>220853820
I'm not reading that. Respond directly to the argument made or concede that you're a nigger.
>>
>>220853806
That's part of why they were so great, you were getting 3 decades at once.
>>
>>220853850
I was pointing out that you write like a brown person because that's the level of intelligence you possess. The content of the rest of your post is irrelevant with this revelation.

>>

okay, don't. other anons will and they'll see that you don't know what you're talking about at all.
>>
The 80s, 90s, and 2000s were all great decades because it felt like there was always meaningful progression being made and new and exciting things happening. You could look forward to new technology, games, movies, music. Since the 2010s and especialluvsince covid, it fells like there's nothing to look forward too. It's everythings winding down and we're just waiting for a collapse that refuses to happen.
>>
>>220853961
>defending another man
I'm sorry your dad wasn't there to explain why you're acting gay right now.
>>
>>220853902
Oh you have no argument, thanks for conceding then.
>>
>>220853956
We've had 90s nostalgia since 2013 9r so, it just gets overshadowed by 80s stuff.
>>
>>220853986
I don't come to 4chan for arguments. I'm not insecure. I come here to make fun of stupid people.
>>
For me it's the transitional period between 1987 and 1994. Best of both decades.
>>
>>220853491
That's not true. In the 90s everyone was shitting on stupid 80s action movies, shitty 80s pop music, retarded 80s haircuts and clothes. It only became nostalghia in about 2005.
>>
>>220853956
>We never got 1990s nostalgia like we did for the 80s.
Because the 90s weren't as good as the 80s
>>
>>220853981
i'm the one who posted the excerpt that you're only pretending you didn't read, since you are, as it turns out, the nigger of this situation
>>
>>220854020
The 90s was still the 80s until about 1992.
>>
>>220854034
You're not though. That nigger could capitalize the first letter of his post. You're just some other DUMB FUCKING NIGGER who plays pile-on like they do down in the ghetto.
>>

>>220854030
>literally agreeing with what i said
Yes
>>
>>220853343
the 1980s were the golden era of Chevy Chase. He was perfect from 1980-1986 or so.
>>
>>220853956
>We never got 1990s nostalgia
That is because ther is no nostalgia gor 90s, because they still culturally dominate. Check top 50 movies of 1996 and tell me how many you know and how many are absolute bangers.
There is no nostalgia for Gladiator, because if it came out today, as it is, no 4k or reworks, it would blow everyone away. There is no nostalgic feeling, because the stuff is just good.
I happened to be at some Trance party concert, entire set was late 90s/very early 00s, and it wasn't supposed to be oldies or nostalgia.
>>
>>220853956
Yes we did. We're living in it right now. Children wear ugly baggy clothes like in the 90s. People are restoring 90s bikes and collecting 90s video recorders and discmans. 90s games are getting remasters. 90s music that was laughed at for 20 years is now considered good again.
>>
>>220854100
I've never met anyone with an IQ over 100 who praised his work. It's like being a fan of Jay Leno.
>>
>>220853343
Gee I wonder why people are fond of the decade where America was mogging the rest of the world and was very culturally productive and still pretty white
>>
>>220853775
both suck. all mainstream genres ultimately suck and you're all sucking the dick of the same jews at the end of the day. the best genre is punk. real, underground, politically incorrect punk, not that faggot shit people think is "punk" 80s had the best bands come out and really develop the genre
>>
>>220854151
>i will never grow up
Cringe.
>>
>>220853343
To be fair the decade format isn't all that accurate. It's something like 82-96 then 97-03 then 04-13. I wasn't alive for the 70s.
>>
>>220854151
>the best genre is punk.
That was always contrarian edgelord slop
>>
>>220854078
>You're not though.
but i am. i am not the guy you started this stupid conversation with, but i am the one who posted the excerpt. is that okay? is it not fair that two separate people noticed you're an arrogant retard that doesn't know anything? do you feel like you're being bullied right now? poor baby.
>>
>>220854151
>the only good music is the kind that doesn't take any talent
Sounds more like you're intellectually lazy.
>>
>>220854225

So, you admit to being gay. Not the win you thought. :^)

You're a caricature. You've fallen into the trap of becoming of a punk listener. You've labelled yourself. Not punk. Not smart. Not enlightened.

Zozzle.

90s is overrated as hell and largely gay as fuck, and this is coming from someone born in '86 so I grew up during them. Objectively the 80s were superior.
>>
>>220854388
They will have nostalgia for the movies their favorite youtubers made.

yeah no shit lol. punk is just as much a uniform as any other scene, the point is being in a different uniform than everyone else lol

how do you think continuing this meltie 20 posts after being proven wrong makes you "look"? this is an anonymous board, nobody would even know. why can't you just stop?

You know, I don't think Jeff came back at all. I don't think he'd let you keep responding. He knows that would reflect badly on both you and himself. I'm disappointed at your deception.

yeah i'm bored now, your busted brain is stuck. bye.

>>
>>220853343

You are false and will not entry
>>
>>220854370
It's something you can't understand unless you were there. Everything was just bigger and better in the 80's.
>>
>>220853343
It's top 1,000 is unstoppable. Make a better one. I'll wait. But we can start with each year. Go ahead. Beat the top 100 of 1984. Not gonna happen.

80 > 90 > 70 > 00 > 60
>>
>>220853343
90s movies are full of bad cgi and god awful "political correctness".
70s movies look awful visually.

80s was the peak of cinematography and practical special effects. It was the peak decade of "movie magic". It was the peak of film makers being able to say what they want without people getting offended. It was all downhill after the 80s.
>>
>>220853343
Commando was made in that decade, so it's underrated if anything
>>
>>220853343
Movies before 1977 were written with thought provoking or just shocking concepts in mind. Movies after 1977 were written with a formula like the heroes journey in mind. That's why they have so much mass appeal compared to what came before. They were basically designed to tap into what the average white guy liked.
>>
>>220856292
The average person was more excited by Jaws and Star Wars than Joe and Straw Dogs, surprising I know
