The monster of the week episodes are usually fun. The long-term storyline episodes less so. Just accept that you're never going to get any answers that you'll like and enjoy the interplay between Mulder and Scully, and later on the Lone Gunmen and Skinner.

I wasn't a big fan of the show but it was pretty iconic. Just watch to see if you like Molder and Skully as it's all going to depend how much you like those two as the show follows those two around the whole time.

I dunno man, sometimes just being able to listen to music or whatever makes an annoying chore way more manageable.

If an actor I like is going to be more pepped up and happy to chat to me because they can listen to music at the same time then that's okay. Worst case I just have to repeat my question once or twice.

>The "Mulder and Scully" dynamic is the gold standard for opposites-attract partnerships: a true believer paired with an objective skeptic, mixed with professional respect and romantic tension

>The dynamic works so well because it balances two fundamental human drives:

>The Believer (Fox Mulder): Embodies wonder, the pursuit of the unknown, and a willingness to look past conventional boundaries.

>The Skeptic (Dana Scully): Grounds the story in empirical evidence, science, and rationality,

>>220863757
They set the template for decades of TV duos that followed.

Some of the best successors to ever attempt this iconic "believer/skeptic" magic include:

Bones (Temperance Brennan and Seeley Booth): The quintessential forensic anthropologist meets intuitive, street-smart FBI agent. Booth grounds Brennan in emotional and social realities, while Brennan's hyper-rationality balances Booth's gut instincts.

Dr. Brennan is a strictly logical, highly literal forensic anthropologist who approaches life with pure science, while Booth is an intuitive, emotionally driven FBI agent. Their evolution from bickering partners to soulmates mirrors The X-Files perfectly.

That's literally why she's there. She's being paid to be there to interact with fans. The fans pay for the con, which in turn pays her, so that they can interact with the celebrities. That's the nature of the exchange.

X-files is better now than upon release because it has such a neat atmosphere. The first few seasons, when they're filming in Canada, are especially moody.

It's also acquired a few additional layers as the years have gone by. You can watch it as a time capsule of the 90s and very early 00s. But you can also connect it to the recent growth in conspiracies around UFOs and such as well.

It's just really cool that they made Mulder so sympathetic too. You wouldn't get that as much today.

Another successor to attempt this iconic "believer/skeptic" magic include:

Olivia Dunham & Peter Bishop (Fringe): FBI Agent Dunham teams up with a brilliant but cynical civilian/con man (Bishop) to investigate bizarre, fringe-science phenomena. It's essentially a modern, heavily mythology-driven successor to The X-Files.

the dynamic of an open-minded operative working alongside a brilliant, pragmatic rogue perfectly mirrors the investigative partnership of Mulder and Scully.

I'm taking about Halloween. In the US, the Evangelical rightwing movement is cancelling Halloween in favor of "Fall Fests" because they associate Halloween with "evil" -- but even in conservative areas, it's a still a huge holiday were many dress up in costumes. A primary theme is spooky and supernatural which makes going as Mulder & Scully to explore all the craziness on Halloween so fun

I'm not a right wing Evangelical Christian nor do I live in rural conservative areas so I don't know what they have been up to the last 30 years but last year (2025), one year ago, is when the Halloween is Evil, cancel it and do Fall Fest instead hit the mainstream in my area (city of 1M)

Last year (2025) my two female friends i kick it with the most were all:

1) freaked out about every Halloween themed event I invited her too saying that's evil and that she only wants to go to Fall Fests.

2) the other, who has been my Halloween party partner the last 20 years (we went to a great Halloween party each year) told me last Halloween, "isn't that evil?" when I brought it up and that was a wrap on any plans with her. That's the first time in 20 years she's been like that

So I studied the situation in my area and indeed all the conservatives areas around me have cancelled Halloween in favor of Fall Fest. I looked everywhere within a 4 hour drive

In the all white suburbs were these two chicks live, about half the churches are pushing to cancel Halloween to replace with Fall Fest

I've lived in that suburb for 30 years and last year (2025) is when it blew up. Never see anything like it before

Then you look at what the mainstream churches are going and they are hosting lectures on why Halloween isn't evil

So yeah in my area, 2025 is when it blew up. That's last year

Might have been 30 years ago at your church out in some conservative rural area but now it's going mainstream in big cities

I like Fall Fest too. When I got the notice that the new thing is cancelling Halloween and replacing it with Fall Fest, there were a variety of motivations pushing me to do all the research I did on the area all around me

One was because I love Fall Fest. For example, two years ago a Fall Fest was one of my best dates, that one wasn't even near Halloween, not even within a few weeks. Was sponsored by a company that was doing it for publicity and to give back to the community but they had free food and one of our top beautiful local singers. Got to meet her and hang out with her after. Took pics with her and all

So it was wonderful seeing all the nice Fall Fests that 300 or so churches in my area have replaced Halloween with

I just don't get the cancelling Halloween part. Pretty much all of them are not doing Halloween and only replacing it with Fall Fest

But you can still Fall Fests in the weeks before or after Halloween, that way you can do both

>The mytharc is already a mess by S5 and it's not like the movie resolves anything.

It starts escalating which it should. It just wasn't allowed to conclude in an organic manner because the show must've gone on. S5 is still at the peak of production despite showing cracks. S6 was the decline and it never got any better. Ergo, stopping after the movie isn't the worst advice.

The Lone Gunmen (a one-season X-Files spin-off) dynamic could be described as:

>The dynamic balances John Fitzgerald Byers' straight-laced idealism, Richard Langly's sardonic, counterculture hacking, and Melvin Frohike's short, scruffy, and deeply empathetic "everyman" persona

>The "Three Stooges" Meets "Mission: Impossible": They act as highly capable, counter-cultural hackers and researchers who offset their genius with moments of slapstick ineptitude and paranoia

>They began as comic relief and tech support for Mulder and Scully on The X-Files before launching their underground newsletter, operating on the fringe of the internet to expose dark government secrets.

The Origin: In the early days of The X-Files, Duchovny was having photos taken at his manager's apartment.

The Act: In between costume changes, he was casually walking around naked and decided to joke around by holding a small tea cup (or shot glass) over his genitals for a few private photos.

The Leak: He thought the photos were just a private joke, but a former publicist eventually leaked and sold them on the internet, causing them to become a massive cult sensation within the show's fandom

In Pop Culture: The image quickly became an infamous piece of 90s celebrity trivia, frequently discussed in interviews and heavily memed across X-Files fan communities.

Exploring GB:

800 years ago at All Saints Church in Hereford, a skilful carpenter carved this gentleman high up in the dark roof where nobody could see him.

It is believed that a carpenter hid the carving, pictured above, in a church roof. It was later discovered when the church built a new cafe in 1990

The figure remains visible to customers at the cafe to this day, lit up by a spotlight, although many may be unaware of its presence just six feet above their heads.

Similar carvings are well documented in churches across Europe, with images of naked women prevailing

On average, the construction site of a large church would have between 50 and 100 skilled craftsmen working on it

Work began on All Saints Church roof around 1200AD, and it was completed around 1330.

Who knew X-Files had an overarching conspiracy? I thought it was just "monster-of-the-week" episodes were you get eerie, isolated, weekly mysteries wrapped up by the end of the episode

The overreaching government conspiracy in The X-Files was:

Spoilers
>a plot orchestrated by a shadowy shadow-group known as The Syndicate (or The Consortium) to assist an extraterrestrial race in colonizing Earth.

>The Bee Vectors: The Syndicate genetically engineered bees to act as carriers of the Black Oil virus, intending to use them to infect the global population once the invasion commenced.

>The Alien Virus: The aliens planned to use a sentient extraterrestrial virus—referred to as the "Black Oil" or "Purity"—to infect and mutate humanity into a mindless slave race.

>The Vaccine: To maintain a small chance of fighting back, the Syndicate concurrently and secretly developed a vaccine against the alien virus

>Ultimately, the Syndicate was largely wiped out by a rival faction of alien rebels who opposed the colonization. In the later seasons and revival, the conspiracy transitioned into a plot engineered almost entirely by the Cigarette Smoking Man (CSM), who sought to create biological "Super Soldiers" to trigger a global apocalypse

Go check out the churches. You have black churches, white churches, Spanish. No mixing
In America blacks and whites and browns are separated. Each has their own parts of town they stick to. No idiot is talking about trick or treating or going out in the Spanish or Black parts of town, you dumb nigger. Or even the lower income white parts of town

>Halloween is dying because of the browns
I'm talking about in White America only. That has nothing to do with anyone but whites.

In my corner of White America it's

1) white churches replacing Halloween with Fall Fest. They are very aggressive about it. I don't know what happens at the black and Spanish churches. I am talking about White America

2) in my neck of White America, the other thing going on is conglomerates have formed. Instead of a bunch of big block parties and cool neighborhoods for trick or treating my area has had two emerge as the super-champions that everyone goes to now. Both are in big neighborhoods behind a church (both churches, both Catholic, are on a main street so they serve as the landmark to the party, they sell parking and everything)

These are such a big deal now that the local police have to block off the whole neighborhood and conduct traffic, create temporary one ways, etc

These two neighborhood-wide parties are massive, it's thousands of people. All the houses in the neighborhood are throwing block parties

Its insane.

So if you notice the neighborhood is getting dead for Halloween that's probably because an enormous neighborhood wide block party has emerged that everyone goes to now

My brother moved to another big city, he also only sticks to the white part of town because he is white.

The way he found out about the monster neighborhood party everyone goes to was because all the kids at his kids school talk about it

Is this a #CloneClub thing?
>>
>>220863428
yes, it's worth watching. It's one of my all time comfort shows and I've seen each episode enough times that it's something I can have on in the background when I'm reading through a manual, trying to learn a new skill, or anything else that can be kind of tedious.

While the overall alien arc was the show's hook, I don't think it's the series strong point. The episodes pop up enough to create intrigue and are fun in context of the series, but if you tried to watch "just the alien episodes" like some people do, you'll probably find it lacking. I think the monster of the week episodes were some of the best and there are a surprising number of comedic episodes for a series that's so tonally dark.

You can also still see echoes of their production in shows today. It's influenced everything from lighting to scoring methods.

I don't have high hopes for the new x-files show. I really wish they would have made it x-files adjacent so it could stand on its own merit, but trying to redo something that was already done successfully seems like a failing strategy.

In my city we like to party so it's primarily a party for adults. The new thing is the Witch Luncheons or whatever they call them. A lot of nice restaurants have them and they are wildly popular. Ladies get their friend groups together and go as witches in groups of 8-12. Looks awesome

>local communities are no longer safe to just send your kids wandering out into
The only place that isn't safe is the part of towns were you hear sirens going off all the time. No families live in that part of town. Families live in family areas which are as safe as you can get. Have you never been to a city in your life?

>three, in the few communities that they still are, niggers get bussed in to take advantage of the candy you give out.
Oh my God you have definitely never been to a city in your life. I'd love to take you sometime. I once took these two rural girls in town from Georgia and they were like oh my God when they saw their first skyline as we drive toward the skyscrapers. I asked, you never saw the ones in ATL? And they said their dad always drive around ATL on the outer loop. The the look on their faces was priceless, as was how excited they were

Don't be scared of the city. Those red necks you live among are right in trying to scare you from the city, but all you need is a local to take you around

You just need to know where the non-white areas are and stay out of them

If you don't have a local to take you around look at a race map of the city first

X Files even has a "two girls, one cup" tier episode that was banned

Season 4, Episode 2 of The X-Files is titled "Home."

the first (and only) episode of The X-Files to carry a TV-MA viewer discretion

Owing to that content, the network would only repeat the episode once on Halloween 1999, three years after the original airing. This was the only time, in the history of the series, that this happened.[32]

In 2017, Vulture.com named "Home" the most terrifying television episode to watch on Halloween.[62]

It is a "monster-of-the-week" story, unconnected to the overarching mythology of The X-Files

"Home" originally aired on the Fox network on October 11, 1996.[9][45] It had a Nielsen rating of 11.9, with a 21 share, meaning that roughly 11.9 percent of all television-equipped households, and 21 percent of households watching television, were tuned in to the episode. It was watched by 18.85 million viewers
