Just saw Backrooms. It was unbelievably fine. A 6/10 at the beginning, a 4/10 at the end, overall just mehIt feels like its a concept that's most scary the less you know and the more thats revealed the less scary it gets, but also in an entire movie you have to add new things because otherwise it gets boring, so they were kinda in a tough position and didn't really pull it off.

>>220867197I thought it was pretty good. I’m not a major critic so I don’t tend to pick things apart. I’m not super into the source material but I’ve seen enough to get the theme. The ending was disappointing because the movie seemed to hint that there was going to be a significant interaction with the “government” agency. All for it to end without really using them. I think they made a bad call making the movie more “philosophical”, trying to give some weird psychological explanation to the backrooms instead of focusing on a grounded sci fi like horror movie. I didn’t mind the whole kitchen table mental breakdown scene as people losing their mind the backrooms is featured in some of the original clips. But it leaned in too hard in the end. Oh well. Still a solid 7.5/10 for me. Worst part of the movie was the zoomers behind me that wouldn’t shut the fuck up. Had to react to every minor plot twist like: >Yo what?!>for real no waaaay >to that’s crazy!>I swear noooooo what?!They were white btw.
