As a kid this movie scared the shit out of me and the Kali cult was a much more menacing antagonist than the Nazis were in any of the other movies.

>jeets cry the movie is racist because their depiction is false and makes them look bad
>actual jeet culture is infinitely worse than anything depicted in the movie
The ironing.

It would have been rated X back then if they showed them eating shit and piss instead of chilled monkey brains and eyeball soup.

No it’s Vince Lombardi

I don’t think that I’ve ever heard anyone mention how much of Resident Evil 4 is influenced by Temple of Doom. Some of the Los Illuminados guys even dress like the Thuggee cultists, and if you ever wanted a ghetto Universal Studios ride of the mine cart sequence, play the RE4 remake on PSVR2 with a couple of fans blowing in your face.
>>
>>220871270
Temple in particular influenced many vidya tropes for some reason
>>
I've never seen Temple Of Doom, but I've seen the baseball episode of Clerks dozens of times, and I don't need to see Temple in order to know the Clerks episode is better.
Similarly, I've never seen Dog Day Afternoon, but I have seen Airheads like twenty times and I know it's better than Dog Day Afternoon.
does anybody else have any examples of this?

is literally worse in India

"Temple Of Doom" is actually positive for Indians compared to its actual reality. The worse part of India is its massive horde of uneducated buffonish people which TOD didnt really focus on but rather its strange customs.

Lots, met many other retards like you on this website.

There are cannibal cults in india that fish the bodies out of the ganges and eat them. They are a barbaric people
>>
>>220871275
Influenced Dungeons and Dragons too. Kali became a villain in AD&D module OP1 (Abyss, the CE plane) and then Planescape turned her home plane into an underground hellscape.
>>
>>220872353
the cartoon show family guy is one long example of this
>>
>>220870562
IIRC it was filmed in Sri Lanka for reasons relating back to that.
I think the Indian government read the script and wouldn't let them film it in India because it was "insulting to the goddess Kali" or some bullshit.
>>
>>220870562
That's right Jay.
>>
>>220870562
The word "thug" came from the pajeet cult of Thugee, in which the cultists commit brutal murders as offerings to their god.
>>
>>220872353
Yeah, I haven't seen The Godfather, but I used to watch Mafia! all the time growing up which is obviously better.
>>
>>220870562
yes, this is what indians are actually like. you should hate them.
>>
>>220870562
It's an homage to the film Gunga Din from 1939.
Which was based on the Indian "Thuggee" cult who were a real cult and that's where the modern term "thug" comes from.

Now pull up the video of the CNN reporter getting browbeaten into eating a real human brain by a real Aghori cannibal yogi on actual live television which happened in real life
(Lolz)
>>
>>220870562
Reality is much much worse
>>
>>220870562
>In his autobiography, Amrish Puri described the controversy around the film as "silly". He wrote that "it's based on an ancient cult that existed in India and was recreated like a fantasy. If you recall those imaginary places like Pankot Palace, starting with Shanghai, where the plane breaks down and the passengers use a raft to jump over it, slide down a hill and reach India, can this ever happen? But fantasies are fantasies, like our Panchatantra and folklore. I know we are sensitive about our cultural identity, but we do this to ourselves in our own films. It's only when some foreign directors do it that we start cribbing."
>>
>>220875355
To be fair it's a very human response. "I can talk shit about my family, but you can't" sort of thing

>Over the past few years, internet access in India has grown from 10% to 70%
>In that time it's exposed more and more gross truths about Indian culture that the 10% shielded from everyone else.
>>
No, Temple of Doom has less street shitting and far more elaborate ritual sacrifices to Kali, actual thugees were just shitty road bandits who strangled lone travelers.
>>
Well they're much more likely to be vegetarian than the monkey brain eaters depicted (unfortunately cow urine and feces is vegetarian)
>>
>>220870562
I hate how much this movie scared Spielberg. They had to go back to making the villains Nazis for all the other movies
>>
>>220872593
They're probably telling themselves how clever they are for finding a free source of food, and that everyone else is stupid for paying for it
>>
>>220877390
I like Raiders, and I love Temple of Doom aside from Willy, but I find Last Crusade very boring and safe, Crystal Skull is liquid shit, and I never even bothered with Dial of Destiny.
>>
>>220877698
Last Crusade is better when you don't compare it to the previous 2, it's still a really fun and well-made movie. Crystal Skull however is boring and Dial of Destiny is so boring that I hardly remember a thing about it. It's understated how much Disney fucked up Indiana Jones too besides Star Wars, but I guess they did it in a way where it was so dull that it invited no anger, just indifference
>>
idiot americans. Indian culture is extremely prestine and ancient. Many many good energies from the lands of India

You see one to many videos on your satanic algorithms that depict india in a negative light and suddenly your an expert on the country, hilarious
>>
>>220877791
I'm genuinely in awe of how hard they've fucked up everything. They've managed to kill Indy, Star Wars, Pixar, AND Marvel. Hell, that Willow show is practically lost media to anyone who doesn't know how a torrent works.
>>
>>220877846
The resounding success of the MCU is very impressive in retrospect considering how quickly it declined in popularity like the other properties they bought. Like holy fuck, this company sucks so hard
>>
>>220877898
And it's like the guy in Austin Powers who gets run over by the steamroller. Everyone has been telling them for ages to course-correct, and they just kept telling them to fuck off, and eventually everyone listened.

I genuinely don't understand the thought process aside from coming to the conclusion that they're trying to destroy Disney as a company on purpose so the chinks or saudis or someone can swoop in and buy it, and that's when you'll truly know America is done.

Put it this way, the chinese used to tell merchants and travelers not to pass through india alone because thuggee cultists would kidnap you and try to sacrifice you to one of their gods. The brits had to literally hunt the fuckers down when they pushed into India
>>
>>220877698
Put it this way: Dial of Destiny was so bland and forgettable that not even /tv/ complained about it because no one saw it.

Before the internet there was a lot of mystery surrounding India, a lot of the mysticism and beauty was pushed by travellers that strictly stuck to the developed tourist areas. Now we know what India and the locals are really like and we are rightfully disgusted.

Disney’s crippling problem was that their whole model was based around never appearing to fail, which made people more likely to watch every instalment because if they didn’t everyone else would and leave them behind.
It meant that they could never show anything that could be remotely construed as weakness, because that make shake confidence in them being an unstoppable juggernaut and make people realise that nobody actually gave a shit about the Iron Man’s accountant show.
>>
>>220872353

Yes, retard affliction like yours is extremely common. Too many examples to list.

Fact whitey saw india as some magical land is funny as shit
>>
>>220870562
This movie made India look like a horrible shithole where the people are so fucking weak and pathetic that an American archaeologist that washed up from China had to rescue an entire town of rock worshippers. That dinner scene was Jewberg exposing the horrifying cuisine while making light of it, only it didn’t work and instead traumatised an entire generation of kids who saw it. Its ironic that India only looks nice when the British empire is around to develop it.
