Unironically American Graffiti.
Such a really natural slice of life movie about a time I never lived in and have no real particular fondness for while because the core of everything is ultimately so relatable you can't help but become an actual unironic boomer for the runtime.
Honestly I've always imagined an alternate universe where star wars wasn't saved in editing, and flopped, while Sorcerer instead became a block buster and template for movies going forward, and the world would have gotten a decade or two of Lucas as a scrappy as fuck working director with a chip on his shoulder against the studios.
I think depalma said it best when he said the worst thing to ever happen to lucas was star wars, because he and lucas would hang out, and George would be sitting on a literal pile of fantastic scripts that they would talk about, but that he would never do because he had the burden on being "the star wars guy."

Well I certainly lived through the late 90s so my choices are going to be much older.

I was alive in the 80s and 90s but never as a 20+ year old adult with daddy's money or flashy cars and women
so I guess that sorta counts as being nostalgic for a time I never fully experienced

Lost Boys makes me wish i lived in that part of california in 87. I was actually alive at the time though (born in 1980). But i live on the other side of the world (australia).

*I guess i really wish i lived in the 50s or 60s, when societies in western countries were 99.9% white. Things were reasonably priced. People were friendly. People dressed impeccably well. Women were stunning and not covered in disgusting tattoos. And there was very little crime.

Watching old movies from those times is almost painful.
